  1. Thank you for the response. One other detail I just tried, I reinstalled the old switch and now I'm getting the same problem even with the old switch.
  2. Hello, I replaced the ignition switch on my 2003 996 targa because the key was getting stuck, and now when I go to start the car all the lights and sounds happen normally, but the engine/starter is not turning. Everything was working fine prior to replacing the ignition switch, so I don't think it's anything major. Fuses, clutch ignition switch check ok. Battery was disconnected for 3 days and had low voltage 12 volts the first time I tried to start after replacing switch, but it's fully charged now and still won't start. The only fault msg I see is "airbag fail" and that was not showing prior to ignition switch replacement. Any suggestions
  3. Hello Loren, Just wanted to follow up and let you know I was able to find the loose wire and fixed. The information you provided me about the X23 connector helped and saved me so much time. Thanks George
  4. Hi Loren, Thanks for your input.20240727_170704.heic20240727_170704.heic I did find what I believe to be the X23 connector and all pins are in perfect condition with zero corrosion( see pic). I also plugged the 3rd stop light into the stop light on the spoiler and verified the actual light is working. I guess the next step is to ring the wires out from X23 to the connector for the light to see if I have continuity. George
  5. Question, do you have any idea where the grounding point is for the "3rd brake light" 2003 Carrera 996? My "3rd brake light" is not working at all, no voltage when brake pedal is depressed, except when I take my multimeter straight to a bolt on the frame for a good ground, then I show voltage. All the other brake lights and lights are working fine. Before I spend too much time chasing wires to find the ground, I was hoping someone might point me in the right direction
  6. hello Carlo, I found a company( "Function First Performance" that sells an aftermarket upgrade/replacement bushing for the rod end that includes a tool for extracting the old bushing. As long as you use the bushing removal to correctly it is a awesome upgrade to the to the factory shifter rod ends. easy to install and IMO better then factory, thanks for your response
  7. Hello all, 2003 996 with 6 speed manual transmission. The rod end rubber bushing on the shifter cable that attaches to the transmission end needs replacing. I had to cut out the rubber bushing as it was un-serviable. From my research I'm mainly finding information that says I will need to replace the full shifter cable assembly from front to back. I have found one company " Function First Performance " that appears to have what they call "solid shifter cable ends" replacement for the 6 speed manual transmission. Any experience with this company and there products or other companies that make rod end replacements Thank you in advance for
