  1. Thanks for that..  I didn't really think about any possibility of damage to the car but don't think I will be doing this option then!   I heard that to avoid flatspotting the tires, the car should be driven every 2-3 weeks and I can sometimes go months without driving it unfortunately.   I bought race ramps flatstoppers but didn't like driving up onto them...  I guess I'll keep using them but push the car on them next time.

  2. Where in the EU are you? I don't have the answer to your question but I had a 2005 997S for a few years when I lived in Germany... sold the car there locally and bought

a 2006 997S Cab (with 8k miles) when I moved back to the states and pocketed about $10k from the exchange (not sure how the market is these days but it is very likely

you can buy the same car in the US and save lots of money and avoid all the charges for shipping and making it compliant)

    Good Luck!

I own a 2006 997 Cab 4S auto that is a Rest of World (RoW) spec ie Left hand drive with gauges in Kilometers, (but digital in Miles).

I've owned it here in the EU for over a year but am anticipating moving back to California later this year.

I am under the impression that it would not be too difficult to get it up to California specs and that it might simply be a matter of some tuning via the ECU or some such.

Can anyone shed some light on this subject or point me to some online resources? Any suggestions on an importer to use?

Can/will Porsche do this for me?

    Thanks

  3. Went for a drive with a Porsche mechanic over the weekend but car wasn't making any noise. Seems to be only in the morning I'm guessing

when there is no lubrication on that part. Goes away after a few minutes of driving. I'll probably be going back again soon to drop off the car since he told me not much he could do without hearing/feeling the knock for himself. Will keep you updated on any progress solving this problem. Jorge

  4. I have a Oct 2005 manual 997S which has been absolutely great so far. Recently though the car

has made some strange knocking sounds coming from my front wheels when the car is cold. This

happens only when turning the wheel completely one way or the other.

I can feel a knock on the steering wheel but have not been able to see what is causing this. It

seems to go away completely after running for a few minutes.

Any thoughts on what this could be?

    Many thanks,

    Jorge
