  1. Interesting. I have not read that in any tutorial. I have only commenters bring it up. im not sure how to unlock the steering if - in my case - the ignition assembly (the gun) is what’s bad. which cable are you referring to release the tension?
  2. I apologize this is so old. 2004 Boxster S Tiptronic. Two answers missing in all of this great write ups. #1, how do you remove the shift release cable from the ignition assembly? I have the clip removed but cannot get the cable out. #2, I cannot get the push button to push down to release the assembly. Yes the steering is locked. Some say it can’t be locked to push it down. Most don’t mention whether it needs to be locked or unlocked. otherwise I am ready to remove it once these two items are figured out.
