  1. That appears to be the TSB when using the 996 part number unit which was OEM'd from B&M. I have a fuzzy copy of the instructions which is removing and reinstalling the shift console. I was hoping for an electronic version that is clearer....
  2. not the one that has to cut anything. I think it's just the shifter R&R instructions, but I don't even have those.... Dealer wants 320 bucks to install.... Can't see that since you don't have to cut anything....
  3. But the 997 number will fit a 996. I bought one from someone and the number the 997 number. I thought it would be a 996 number. The white plastic tool has a 996 number, but it has a crack and though it might still work.
  4. and does it start with 997? Also is there a 996 part number alignment tool also for the installation.
  5. It's not really a bolt as much as a lock. Try turning it the other way....
  6. I know you say that, but I brought mine for an estimate with a similar issue to a "reputible" porsche only body shop and the guy look at me like I was nuts because I wanted to pay to have my one side removed and re-done. He gave me the no-one is that nuts about their car look.
  7. I'm guessing the adhesive kit is for the MKI Aerokit. The MKII uses tape. Also see if you can get them to send you a copy of the book on how to install the tape so that it's placed in just the right spot. I'm thinking that is the trick. I didn't have a problem with mine till it was removed once and reinstalled.
  8. My factory ones weren't and I ordered the car with the flared sideskirts. Also If it's glued into place, what happens if it needs to be removed? Also do you have the instructions for the epoxy?
  9. Interesting they found adhesive part numbers.... Suncoast said they couldn't find them.... What part numbers I'd like to check them in the PET CD. I think the reason my one side doesn't flush is because mine has been reinstalled when I had the clear redone on my quarter. They used a full length of tape, but I'm thinking it's too high on the skirt so it's thickness is involved. I'm guessing there is an exact height it needs to be put on. The TSB for the aerokit doesn't mention it and I don't have a newer workshop manual for the 996 that would cover the aerokit II skirts, maybe someone here can help us.
  10. The only packs of 3m tape I have found are 5 feet long and the skirt if about 5feet 10/11 inches. Where does the tape run from and how far down from the top of the piece should it be placed. The whole length of the skirt or just twords the back where the TSB indicates you need to "roll" the skirt. I'm guessing you don't put it in the areas are on inside the wheel arch since there are bolts... thanks... Corey
  11. One of my side skirts is starting to have a gap and you can see the double sided tape. I know there are bolts underneath, but how do you remove the skirt without removing the paint. I was thinking about using dental floss to separate the skirt from the body but cutting the tape in half, but don't know how to remove what's left without damage to either the body or skirt. Do they make special stuff to remove the tape. Also any tips on how to reinstall to get a perfect gap...
  12. I have both the britax that porsche OEM'd(and don't make anymore) and a regular britax seat (don't recall the model) both fit in the back of my 03 996 easily. Cheers, Corey
  13. No you can't. 02 maybe, but 03 has MOST and CAN bus to communicate with the cluster.
  14. Should fit, but it is different from the real GT3 one as the air intake and fan on the GT3 are in a different spot.
  15. I have a 2003 C2 and I think since day 1 I could see my rear mufflers and the wheel liner doesn't follow all the way around. Is this correct. I was on another board and someone mentioned they couldn't fit the wheel liner back on when they upgraded their exhaust. His car was a 99 or 2000 I think.
  16. I'm getting a new gadge surround from Bumperplugs and need to remove the cluster to install it. I found boxster instructions here but I'm pretty sure the cluster is different on a 996.
  17. I know the rears changed slightly between the years and I had problems fitting rears from a 00 on my 03.
  18. What do you do to cap off the brake lines so that moisture won't get in. I may need to take my current front brakes off to swap with someone. it may take up to a week or more for me to put them back on. The only place I can work on my car is my driveway so it will have to sit outside for that time. I don't want to leave the brake system "open". Any ideas?
  19. So here's the procedure... Put the jack under rear point and start jacking it up. Start to Remove the front wheel while it's still on the ground and remove it just as you come off so you don't scratch the caliper. Then jack the rest of the way up and put a stand under the front side jack point. Then repeat for the other side correct?
  20. I noticed you didn't completely remove the wheel well liners. Why? and you imply you just pulled them back with twine. How far did you losen them. Also which jack point did you use to jack the car up and where did you put the jack stands. while I've put the car up on a jack, I've never used jack stands with it. I guess I could use my floor jack on one side and the porsche spare tire jack on the other....
  21. Will loren's instructions for the 2001 and earlier C2 work? Any differences/changes and any tips on purging the cooling system of air. Also has anyone removed the center piece for the radiator mount on an Aerokit II or should I just order the one for a GT3/Tiptronic aerokit. Thanks, Corey....
  22. Note: Part numbers sometimes change without notice. Always double check with your supplier that you have the latest part numbers. My PCM2 unit was purchased used, from a 2003 Carrera coupe, which was upgraded to a custom stereo/navigation system. This was my experience and I take no responsibility for anyone else using these instructions). The PCM unit includes the main system plus the navigation module (the module with the blue antenna hookup). There is space at the bottom of the unit to slide in 2 more modules, which I assume may include a cell-phone (like in Europe) and voice control module (the button is there on the front, but it does nothing). Here is my installation procedure: It took me 2 hours 15 minutes. Parts you will need 1 ea 000 044 900 70 PCM2 Retrofit Kit The retrofit kit contains the main PCM2 unit, navigation module and the following parts: 1 ea 996 552 339 00 01C (use your trim color code - 01C is satin black) A/C Panel Trim 1 ea 996 642 206 00 GPS Antenna 1 ea 996 612 009 00 GPS Antenna Lead 1 ea 996 552 231 12 01C (use your trim color code - 01C is satin black) Support Frame 1 ea 996 552 653 02 Retaining Bracket Tools you will need Standard hand tools (i.e. screwdrivers, trim removal tool, etc.) I only received the unit as the other person re-used the brackets and harnesses for the new system. Here are the additional components besides the PCM2 Main unit (see other items above). 1) new front support bracket under the horseshoe. 2) new rear support bracket that holds the PCM unit, and cup holders. 3) Trim piece for the A/C control (it must be moved to the bottom of the front center console). 4) GPS antenna. 5) GPS antenna lead. 6) Becker radio removal tools (not pictured). Open the front hood and disconnect the car battery now. Next you need to remove the carpet in the front center console (just pull it off) and the leather/pleather trim piece from the side (yank hard from the back, it pops off also). Horseshoe: To remove, use the back of a smooth plastic spoon or a hard plastic card to remove the horseshoe (so that you will not mar or damage the horseshoe). You will also have to disconnect the A/C vents I found using 2 small jewelers screwdrivers one in each vent allows the removal of the unit. Next reach behind the center console and push out both the CD Holder (if applicable) and the storage bin(s). Remove the horseshoe by disconnecting the cables from the switches and cigarette lighter. Notice the clips may have to be removed from bottom to top as you can see in the pic there is also a lock that need to be popped out to remove each connector. Next pull the trim off the A/C controls (it just pops out), and then remove the 4 screws holding the A/C controls in. Unplug and remove the A/C unit, discard the 2 spacer's you won't need them. And using the Becker radio removal keys (they insert into the slots on either side of the radio), remove and unplug the CDR23 radio. Then slide the A/C vents out if you have not done so already. Next remove the screws holding in the front support bracket, this will make it easier to work inside and we have a new one with an open center for the PCM unit. Take the A/C cable and carefully (try to avoid kinking the orange fiber optic cable from the CDR-23/Stereo/MOST bus that always seems to be in the way) snake the A/C cables down the right side of the console as shown below. It will be a tight fit due to the glove box being in the way. (This part took a good amount of time so that I would not break or damage anything). I moved some of the rubber trim under the dash and barely twisted the connectors through. Next put the cables through the center hole in the metal bracket directly behind the front center console. Pop out the batwing so that you can push the A/C unit in and install the 2 screws (note: you will have 2 extra screws now). Also plug the unit in from behind. When you are done, push the batwing back in, you can also re-install the cd-holder/storage bin and snap the new trim piece around the A/C controls (you may need to move the clear plastic bushings from the old trim to the new piece). Next unscrew the rear support bracket and replace it with the new one. Now for the really hard part... The GPS antenna... The alarm cover is removed buy squeezing the rear of the cover furthest from the windscreen while pulling up. It is not an easy task the first time. You will also need to unscrew with a T15 torx (I used a torx socket and my fingers with no wrench) the two screws that hold the alarm LED carrier, be careful not to drop them in the vent. Next you will need to "pop" the two plastic dash trims on either side of the carrier to remove it and run the antenna cable later (I wedged a flat screwdriver on the carrier to pop the ends of the 2 plastic dash trims, but did it in a way not to damage anything, then I used my hands to pop it just enough so I can remove the carrier). In this step first run the GPS antenna lead down the hole where the alarm antenna is run. You will be able to see the hole, from the center console to pull the cable through if you slightly flex the A/C vent ducting. Grab the cable and lead it down and round the ductwork. The GPS antenna is held in place by a magnet. With the antenna cable towards the front windshield, it should pop on. You will need to plug the GPS antenna into the lead wire and place the combined plugs under the front of the alarm carrier. This is the only way you have enough room to reassemble everything (see previous diagram). Remove the cupholders from the old front support bracket and attach the cupholders to the new front support bracket. Next route the cables through the front support bracket as shown (do not screw in the bracket yet). Connect the cables to the PCM unit as follows. Note: in retrofit cars there is no diversity antenna (yellow antenna connector). Slide the PCM unit into the front bracket, and using a 5 mm hex wrench extend the locks on either side of the PCM unit from behind the front bracket. Fit the front bracket in place and install the 4 screws from the old bracket. Next snap the horseshoe into the central vents and hold down the A/C vent locking tabs while you reinstall the combined horseshoe/vent unit. Then push around the horseshoe to lock it in. And re-connect the battery... Finally, go to the nav display and select "Tire-Change" this will tell the unit to re-calibrate. You will need the dealer to use the PST2 to program the OBC to recognize that you have a PCM2 not CDR23. This will allow you to have the option to display navigation directions in the multi-function display under the tach. I'm also not sure if the PCM2 unit came from a different vehicle configuration or was a new replacement unit if the anti-theft system would also need to be programmed with the PST2/3 to prevent the unit from shutting down. In my case I was fine.
