  1. Actually I was more curious if the one piece unit like 2001 or later 996's had from the factory could be retrofit. I want to do the mirror and figure if I can get it in one unit great. Otherwise I'll skip the rain sensor.
  2. I know porsche makes a separate retrofit rain sensor and a separate auto dim int mirror. On factory cars they are integrated into one unit. Can this or something like it be retrofitted to my 2003 996?
  3. My 2003 996 has factory flared rocker panels. Is there anything special to do so I can jack up the car or is it the same as my boxster as without them.
  4. Just plugged it in and everything worked. I thought I needed to have it programmed by the dealer. Any thoughts. I do know it came from a car similar to mine.(i.e. 2003 and coupe)
  5. OK, pulled the cdr-23. It looks like it only has one antenna. So I did a little google search on Diversity, PCM and Porsche. It appears to be a signal enhancement antenna for FM reception integrated into the windscreen. I live in the NY/NJ area and we have awesome reception. So I guess I can't hook that feature up. I guess like retro-fit Litronics on earlier 996's and the factory only auto-leveling, diversity antenna requires ordering PCM from the factory. Cheers, Corey... p.s. I will take pictures when I do the install and post them. First I'm waiting for some parts from suncoast(i.e. gps antenna and cables).
  6. Thanks for the response, but I'm still confused. The refered posting was for a Cayenne, and so some applies. I still don't know what the diversity antenna is and what the indicated antenna connection is. Atleast I'm now sure about the navigation antenna lead for the gps. Does my CDR-23 have two antenna inputs, diversity and something plainly marked antenna? I guess I'll pull the radio today and look. I'm just trying to figure out if I ordered everything or do I need more parts for an additional antenna... Thanks... Corey... p.s. I bought the main system used from a fellow boarder who replaced her's(hint-hint) with an alpine unit in her SY 996, with muffler bypass. :)
  7. I just got my PCM2 unit today from UPS. It appears that their are 3 antenna ports on the back. 2 right next to each other(one marked antenna and the other diversity PCM2) and one on the back of the navigation module on the bottom with no marking. Which cables do I plug into which. Does anyone have a diagram. I would guess the GPS antenna goes into the navigation module, and the FM antenna into the one marked antenna. But what is the diversity PCM2 one for? Attached is a pic, any ideas...
  8. I know the CDR23 requires keys to remove the unit. How does the PCM2 unlock from the dash bracket? Any help or pics would be great. Thanks in advance, Corey
  9. Gladd to hear it was something stupid and not a short or bad switch. Cheers, Corey
  10. Before you pannic, check that the glovebox(if you have one) and the center console are snapped closed completely. Then check the light in the front boot. If when you open the car it is not on, then maybe there is a short or bad switch and they just took the bulb out or cut the wire instead of fixing it. It may be no big deal. The beep when you lock the doors is telling you something is open.
  11. I have a 996, it comes with the OBC/Trip Computer standard. On the boxster it's an option. I used to have an 01 boxster, so here the deal with boxsters and retro-fit OBC: On pre-02 boxters you need to add the stalk and enable the display with the PST2. On 02 and higher the actual LCD display changes as well, it's a colour multi-function display when you have the OBC from the factory. Cheers, Corey
  12. Thanks Loren, What exactly should I tell them to reference in the Service Manual? Is there a section title. I like to go in knowing what I'm talking about since this will be their first PCM-II retrofit. BTW: I will photo document this install and post it here and on PPBB when I'm done. Thanks, Corey...
  13. I am installing a "used" MOST PCMII into my 03 carrera with Hi-Fi. The unit came out of an 03' which I think has Bose. I have the GPS Antenna, trim pieces and GPS extension cables. My only concern is the lack of documentation on the install, which I will be doing myself except for the programming of the unit. I am not confident the dealer knows which options to program/set. I do know they will need to set it to recognize my vin number or the PCM will shut down due to the anti-theft system. What other codes need to be configured to have an operation unit. Do they set it to non-bose or is the PCM smart enough? Any help would be appreciated with the install or with the programming. thanks in advance Corey
