  1. Rewired both of mine so that they come on with brake application. Like high mount brake light this draws more attention to the fact that I'm on the brakes. how do you rewire it or can you rewire it 2 light up and use for brakes +1. would you post the parts required for the passenger side?? TIA
  2. interesting lights for the boxster fan http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...type=osi_widget
  3. A friend asked me how many miles my 99 996 coupe had. When I said 88k, he said, "oh, you are due for your 'expensive' 100k" service........has anybody heard of that? Timing compnents? etc. The car runs great right, only issue are the spark plug seals are leaking (to be replaced soon) tia
  4. 99 996 installed 10k miles ago. Slight improvement in performance with nice sound. Definitely reset computer using disconnect batt procedure. I skipped the K&N oiled filter and bought an AEM Dryfilter to prevent MAF issues. If you need a part number let me know. jb
  5. I did it myself with a friend in 3 hours. p-car isn't really that special comparing to other in terms of suspension All German Auto did it for me, ~700 or so (with alignment). No issues with them.
  6. I had a simliar problem on my99 Carrera.......mine was alernator whine. turns out the power lead was too close to the speaker wires. Try rerouting the power lead away from your low voltage (RCA) type speaker connections. this worked for me. good luck
  7. Anybody know if a emergency brake handle unit from a 2002 996 fit a 1999 996? TIA jorge
  8. I'll try the bumper route. Thanks for the help. jorge
  9. Try Sunset Porsche. They will find it for you abd give you good price.
  10. B) When I replaced my brake lines with braided lines......I was abaolutely sure that I could thread the fittings on by hand before I even thought of laying a wrench on it. One must be very careful or one must pay the PORSCHE god many $$$$. B) jorge
  11. Yep, that's the one (it is the passenger side though). i have the part except not sure how to replace it. I noticed it broken while working on my brakes....jeeez. thanks for the input Loren. jorge ps. i'll post a pik in a minute
  12. Loren Would you help me find as answer for this question. thanks
  13. I have a broken rear bumper cover bracket (just aft of the left rear wheel). I have the part (from sunset of course) and would like to know if this bracket can be replaced without removing the bumper cover. TIA jorge
  14. i wouldn't chance it! I have been through that! It cost me a new set of headlamp assmblys ($$$$). So go with something that provides bright light with low wattage. jorge
  15. Did you guys see this thread? http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=10247 I also installed these on mine.......... No cutting and re-wiring required for entire installation. 35W. Xenon Gas Filled HID bulbs. No Filament 5000K ~ 10000K color temperature. More light output ~$200......and looks good. jorge
  16. Hi, I spoke to Nico Strosek today who manufactures these covers. Basically, there is a chance that your covers can be taken off and re-used (easier on a pre-facelift model like yours), but as "Tom Sch" already said, there are some issues. Apparently warming up the headlights doesn't help an awful lot. The idea is to take some kind of flat spatula (preferably non-metal non-scratch) and very carefully go all around the two holes and prise off the cover bit by bit. It should be possible to take off the cover without damaging it, but it is a risky procedure. The main issue is removing the glue from the headlight. Since the headlights are made of plastic and not glass, you are very restricted as to the type of fluid you can use as not to permanently damage the headlight. I seem to recall he reckoned that Methylated spirit would be OK, but I'd certainly try it in an unconspicous place first. Anything more aggressive I'd definitely not use. Apparently it takes an evening just to get the glue off the headlights. Cheers, Uwe Where can I get a hold of Nico Strosek, I would like to buy a set for a 99 996 non-lifted. I personally like them on dark colored cars. thx jorge
  17. Does anybody know where i can get some Strosek Headlight covers? TIA
