  1. Tks. My mistake - I clearly saw you typed "Block All Cookies".  But my brain got and was thinking, "Block pop ups",  which I have enabled.  I do not have enabled Block All Cookies.  So who knows. Maybe you're only suppose to get an informational page and are not given the option to make changes.  Its the same for me on Firefox on my Mac laptop too.

  2. Tks Jeff. Part of the issue as mentioned is that generac refuses to give a crossover part no. and what I get from dealers are the 2 above which are different.  generac referred me to ordertree.com and even those guys could tell me nothing - but only sell me the part.  I guess I could spend the 27.00 bucks and order one to see what I get.  I have been told that I do tend to overthink things:closedeyes:.  I also get a lot, "Ive never been asked that before".  And this tends to be a good example of why I guess.  I wrench a little but not nearly as much as others. But I am a manual guy and figure the manufacturers put stuff in them for a reason.  Problem is that im getting a little too old to be climbing up and down the roof to work on the gen and the people around here charge outrageous prices and while I don't mind paying market rate, I think 27.00 bucks is a bit steep.  I refuse to pay 900.00 I was quoted for a 3 gal rad flush and the service co wanted over 500.00 for a serpentine belt change - not including the part. But maybe its more involved that the V belt change I did - nothing to remove there.  I haven't inspected it closely yet.   I understand they are in business to make a profit and I endorse capitalism, but its seems excessive to me.  So im left trying to figure this out on my own, trying to make sure I don't screw it up and with all the poorly trained counter help and googling, its tough.  So your help is much appreciated.  Without a benchmark or OEM start point, to be sure.  I guess I need to order one and see what I get in order to know what I can safely use.  Based on your above response, iridium may be the ticket to get peace of mind and longevity and superior performance all other things meeting required specs.

  3. So maybe the link is suppose to bring you to an informational page only?  Recently when I’ve seen links like these due to privacy policy updating, I get a page where you can actually make changes.....  Why do you say have all cookies blocked turned off?  I’m interested in allowing fewer cookies not more.  Tks.

  4. Tks. Doesn’t seem to be much difference - BUT - I’m no expert. Clearly there is a difference between oreily and autozone where I went - they could tell me nothing.....  After trying motorcraft and Ford , I was cooked.  These are actually for my Generac generator....  Generac sells them for 26 dollars a piece!  One service co.  said one was an oem crossover while another dealer said the other and Generac refused to give a crossover number understandable, I guess.  I don’t know enough about this stuff to know if the tip material nickel vs platinum and the electrode design fine wire vs standard means much?  It’s a Ford, 5.4L V8.  Curiously, this is what the old ones looked like - which were the SP-521’s....

  5. I’m on an iPad, safari, iOS 14.4.2. When I get on the site I see the option to adjust cookie settings but when I click the link the page just refreshes and the change cookies page never loads.  How do I get it to come up?    Thank you.

attached is the page and circled I’d what I’m tapping on.....

  6. So im trying to find someone who can tell me or tell me where to look for the difference between these 2 plugs - both Motorcraft - Ford. I cant find a motorcraft number, ford c/s says call the dealer and the dealer doesnt know. Hell, ford c/s actually gave me a number for a tech line and it ended up being there retails number for sales for clothing. Then i got a number for Ford Power Products which actually sells car generators!!! Im surprised anyone knows what the hell is going on over there.....

    SP-400, AGSF22N AND SP-521, AGSF22F1

    Tks much

Sorry, not sure what’s up with the black background. Also, wasn’t sure where to post this.....

  7. I generally use 2 bucket method - 1 for rinsing and 1 for soap. 14” horse hair brush and garden hose. Soft top coated 1 per year w Porsche fabric soft top care - forget what’s it’s  called.   Even then I’m careful not to blast too much wasted on the windshield as water always seems to find it’s way to settle in the battery tray.....  I’d love to see someone take a car like this through the auto wash - it’d blast a hole in the top w the spray jets. When I drive my truck through one the wipers about get blown off.   Pressure washers can be used if careful - but most aren’t and 1 slip will do a lot of damage.

    Hi WTL,

I also have the same problem-"Check Front left side light". I have an 07 C4S with 36k miles.

This is sporadic and also self corrects. This has happened 3x since I bought the car in Feb 2020.

Have you figured this out yet or still bugging you?

    Thanks much,

    Steve

Hasn't happened in awhile - who knows why or why not???   Haven't figured it out but haven't messed with the light either.  Ive just left it alone.  Remember a contact at the dealer telling me he's seen it before but they have never figured it out either.  They'll replace the fixture if you want, but he said no clue and wouldn't worry about it.  I use to think it seemed to happen after I washed the car...  It doesnt bother me nearly as much as the black foam pieces blowing (STILL!!) from the AC vents.  I HATE that.

Try plugging a cell phone or other charger in it, it should be hot all the time.  Porsche did this so you can plug in a maintainer, run the cord out under the driver's door, and keep the system fully charged while the car is locked and the alarm is on.

Tks again.  It is a live socket. And tks for the tip on the charger. Got a MSX 5 from CTEK.  It is by far the best looking and seems to be sturdiest too of any charger ive ever bought.  Using now for the 1st time so I can't comment on much else.

CTEK had multiple models, all of which are excellent performers, and can be obtained from online sources like Amazon at reasonable prices.

tks again - just to double double check, the lighter port next to the driver is "live/hot" while the car is off and can be used as a battery charging connection, right?  My **** multimeter is busted.

The Ctek has multiple advantages; first, and perhaps most important, all Ctek units have a desulfation step as part of their charge profiles. Sulfating is one of the principal reasons why a battery dies prematurely, running this step every time the Ctek cycles is critical to lengthening the battery's life. No Battery Tenders ever made have this desulfation step in their systems. And, yes, Ctek does have the correct lighter socket adaptor to utilize Porsche's ability to charge through the lighter. Ctek also has a variety of other adaptors, including ones that permanently attach to the battery if you want to go that way. Ctek also makes Porsche’s branded maintainer, but I would not buy one from them as they are way over priced and exactly the same as Ctek’s 3300 model, which you can buy online much cheaper from Amazon and others.

old thread I know but I am in the process of looking for another charger/tender I can plug into the console cigarette port to maintain the battery.  Is this still a recommended model ?  Tks

  12. thanks guys.  Yes, they took the 5 plug and moved the coil to another and the plug to a different cylinder.  4 and 6 maybe - don't have the paperwork here.  I just the other day watched a pca vid where the guy changed the plugs while changing out the exhaust.  looks much easier w/o that it the way.  id like to do it but ill need to find a lift.  ah, something to do....

  13. So, low milage car.  Took it out aprox 2 weeks ago, have not driven it in awhile and had low battery - dash flashed something like emergency start on start up.  Ran ok.  Started again 2 hr later after apt., weak start, no error message on start up.  Went for a spirited drive for about an hour to run up the battery.  2 min from home, goosed it a little to run it up one last time and I got the check engine light...  Back from the shop.  They tested the battery as ok under load but got a P0305 on cylinder 5.  swapped the plug and coil and so far after a 10 minute ride, no more code.  So, trying to understand this and im not a big engine guy-----

could the code be anyway related to the poor start up those last 2 times before the CEL?  Just keep running it and see if I get a repeat on the error code?

Looking for some insight from others more experienced.  Shop says if I get the code again and its just a plug or coil, they recommend changing them all out - estimate 1400.00 - dearer price.  if its a code again on the same 5 cylinder could be bigger issue.

Last time new plugs and updated coils was 2016, 40k miles.  Now have 44k miles....    Thoughts please.  Tks much

WTL: How much was it and how long ago?  When I asked my local dealer they stated they could no longer get a copy.  I called Navtech and they said they no longer provide support and have no discs available.

Oct this year.  From the dealer.  Pelican shows them too:

  15. I got it through the dealer.  Kinda expensive but they let me use 100.00 off coupon.  Im going to keep the old one bc the new one is acting strange - there is lag in the map when the car moves and the lettering / font is hard to read at night.  Im sorry i did the update and im gong to look in going back to the older one when i have time.  The map also seems to "jiggle" when moving.....  Drag.

  16. I recently had the dealer mount and balance 2 new front tires - Michelin Pilot PS2's - 235/35/19's.  Please see the attached note on the work order.  This past weekend was the 1st opportunity I had to take it out on the highway and i noticed shaking in the steering wheel from about 55 on up and a more noticeable vibrating which seems to be coming from the middle of the car.  Called dealer and they recommend 500 miles highway use to see if they settle in.  They explained that they have seen some warranty issues on the Michelin's.    Can anyone explain the road fore weight statement?  Ive never heard of that before and never had problems with any tires, michelin or otherwise.  Tks.
