I am late to this party aren't I!!!

    Meth injection too!!!!!!

I need to figure something out to get a little more power.

HMM..I need to get 500hp out of my 2.5!!!!

Glad to see you are going ahead with this build. keep us posted and take plenty of before and after pictures.

We are all dieing to see it.

    Gary

  2. Just checked out the CQLight website that was recommended at the start of this thread.

It says: "Our HID-Xenon Conversion Kit are for off-road driving in the United states only, we do not held any responsibilities if its used on daily driving."

    What's that all about?

    Norm

    01 Boxster, based, 5 spd

    US Lawyers.

Basically the lights have probably not met Department of Transportation testing.

There are a large number of parts that are sold as "off road use only" that are used on a daily basis.

  3. I only take my Boxster to 3 shops in Baton Rouge/Lafayette

The best Porsche mechanic I have ever seen works buy appointment only in Lafayette. He does all of my custom work. If it is small maintness type stuff he is not your guy. If the Boxster is your daily driver forget I mentioned him. He is amazing, his work has been on magazine covers, he is very affordable. I called him the other day to do some exhaust work on my car, he can see me in March. If you need work like this PM me.

for maintenance or work you need on a time frame Loupe Automotive is the guy to see ask for Paul Loupe. He is the owner and chief mechanic. He does all of my maintenance he is very quick and can get you in within a day or so. He has installed coil overs for me oil changes for the past 150k miles plus aos repairs and other items a 150k miles Boxster needs. Its a 2 man shop and he comes highly recommended from most Porsche owners in Baton Rouge.

The Louisiana group has grown from a few to a gaggle, we need to get our cars out and let them breath a little.

  4. I do not see a blank plate for that location on the parts list.

You would have to get something custom made, as Porsche does not have such a part.

Well if you say so it's because you know what you're talking about. I'll have to find someone to make a custome blank plate to install my gauges after.

    Many thanks for your time.

    P.D.

I am in search for a blank plate for the same reason you where (gauges) what solution did you come up with?

Does anyone know where I can get an OEM looking blank plate??

    Thanks

  5. Finding the spring rate info has been very hard. From what I can see no one knows or can release what oem rates are and the aftermarket spring rates are hard to come by.

From what I can figure out, the rate is how much force it takes to compress the springs 1 inch.

    Cross uses 393/450

    PSS9 260/345

    H and R 220/230

If anyone has additions to this list please post them.

    Oh yes they are stiff.

I have found out that the rears are almost 500 lbs. Whereas the H and Rs and PSS9 are closer to the 300 range.

If you are installing the KSPORTS I would recommend installing the helper spring I understand that makes them better. Update us with what you think of them and after I figure out my spring rates or if I go with the helper spring I will update everyone here also.

What does the spring rate mean exactly? K Sports are 500lbs. vs the 300 on other coilovers.....what does this translate to performance and ride wise?

I will find it out in 2 weeks. I just ordered them.

    Thanks for help

    Please keep us updated.

K Sport has gotten reviews all over the board, some good some bad.

Their coilovers are really stiff from what I hear. A member on 986forum is trying to get springs that have a different spring rate because of how stiff they are.

  7. Please dont sound stupid ;)

GO visit your Boxster and click your headlights once to the right. Now go look at the headlights. Those are your "city lights" or as we call them here "parking lights" in some countries they drive in the well lit cities with these lights on and not their full beam headlights. In the US we park with them on. While your outside playing with your head lights turn them off again and then turn the dial to the left one click lights up the right side "parking lights" for the rest of the world and the second click to the left lights up your drivers side "parking lights" these are used for the times you need to park on a street at night. You would turn on the light on the traffic side of the car.

So in otherwords the yellowish light you see is another bulb in your housing. It can be changed out to a xenon matching bulb. I think its number is 5w5 but please check on that. Its a very easy swap. It changes just like the rest of the bulbs in the housing.

Good luck and please ask any further questions.

  8. These are oem taillights that have been painted with an opac black paint, and then clear coated.

The lights are still visible and relativity bright.

How did you do your tail lights?

As you all know I have had my HID upgrade for quite awhile, but i can not seem to get them adjusted correctly.

Any tips on aiming the headlights??

    Gary

Thanks! hope u got that cigg lighter all figures out.
Looks cool! Now u need to upgrade your fog lights

Thanks, yours looks good too. Fogies can stay the way they are as they don't get used much.

  9. Hello,

I have a 99 986 that has a set of coil overs. Prior to that I had lowering springs.

Since the lowering springs have been installed my camber and toe have been a continuous issue.

I am trying to get the car into ROW settings, if not those I would like opinions on what others with lowered cars are running.I understand that a car that is lowered will bot be able to get an oem allignment and thats fine I am just trying to get the best possible set up with out buying camber plates or toe links.

My driving is 50/50 interstate and back country roads, with about 2 or 3 track days a year.

    The current allignment is:

    Front

-1.2 camber -1.2 The front coil overs do have built in camber plates, i do not know weather or not they where used to get the current setup.

    .08 toe .09

    Rear

    -1.7 camber -2.2

    .4 toe 1.09

My camber on the right side is out of Porsche specs by .2, but my toe is insanely out of spec. The number I have say I should be within 0.0-.17 my question at this point is: am I better off with more camber and less toe?

    What does everyone here think??

    Thanks for any help.

  10. A guy on 986forum.com did a tpc sc on his 986. I dont know the exact thread but I think his name was ohioboxster.

    Hello,

Any body have experience installing a TCP supercharger (99 2.5l Boxster 5 spd if it matters). I picked up a used one and I do know my way around a wrench quite well. I could not though, get one of the pipes from the blower up through to the top of the engine. TCP claims it’s bolt . I couldn’t for all the money in the world get the thing through. Tips tricks...?

Also, If you’ve a good blog or pics of the installation that would be great! Tcp manual leaves a lot to be desired (dig those illustrations)

    Thanks PK
