  1. Unfortunately no. Just installed it and did a search for the torque specs. The old pump was warbling aprox 1/8 of an inch. No wonder there was a vibration. It has taken this long since I have to have my right shoulder replaced, I'm right handed, and needed to rest it. Good thing I'm in no rush. The exhaust bracket was broken. All the remaing parts to be installed will be picked up at Vertex here in Miami. New expansion tank cap (ending in 04), the hose that had to be cut, coolant (3 gals)< getting stainless steel hose clamps. In the process of getting an Uview Airlift. Does it has to be the fanciest one or just the basic will work?
  2. How do I use a torque wrench for the water pump? There is hardly room for a regular wrench.
  3. Thanks. There is a harborfreight aboy 25 min from the house. Will get one.
  4. Got the pump with the composite impeller. Followed the instructions in the DIY post however, is not as easy as it seems. In my case will have to take out the thermostat (bought the metal gasket) also there is a hose that, will have to loose, the hose from the expansion tank that connects with a metal tube that is attached to motor case, and also the hose that connects from the thermostat to a tube on the left side of the engine compartment that goes all the way to the front (?) needed to be detached from the thermostat. It was sooooohard to disconnect that had to cut it (also bought the original Porsche hose), Is a pain to unscrew one of the thermostat screws. Got the Porsche coolant. Was working on the car Sunday but it has been such a hassle that had to stop. My shoulders were sore. Will try to continue next Sunday. I'm in no rush so will take my time. Envy those who did the job in 3 to 4 hours. Great cars but... **** German engineering. They design things like never are going to break. My wife's Mercedes is the same. So are the Leica cameras.
  5. Many Thanks JFP. where can I get the OEM Porsche coolant?
  6. Thanks JFP Sending the part back on Monday and getting the one with the composite impeller. Better safe than sorry. How about the coolants I mentioned above?
  7. The vibration was in the rear of the car. The pump is made in Germany. Did a search already and bookmaked the link. Thanks.
  8. God the water pump. Some questions though, Should I put silicone sealant on the gasket? On the Pedro's Garage website there is a technical article where he mentions that any OAT (Organic Additive Technology) coolant can be used on the Porsche. He named the following coolants as good to be used: Peak Global Life Time, Pennzoil Dex-Cool Extended Life, Prestone Extended life, Zerex Dex-Cool Formula. Any opinions? From the Pedro's Garage technical article: "The recommended antifreeze for our Porsche vehicles is the OAT type. Many of the famous, over-the-counter brands offer OAT coolant with an aluminum-protecting inhibitor package and contain no silicates, borates or phosphates and will be stated as such on their labels. Generally these are called “Extended Life Antifreeze Coolant”." It is an aftermarket pump so it has the metal impeller, how bad could that be?
  9. Yes. Guess after she drove the car the last time the pump kicked the bucket. Just ordered the pump and gasket yesterday.
  10. Well it was not the mounts. My wife was driving the car, yes she did but I had no choice, she calls me, the red light by the water temperature gauge flashing, She also mentioned smoke. Other than that all ok . Temp within normal, etc. Water expansion tank lower than minimum. Had refill the coolant 2 or 3 days before. She refilled the water expansion tank. When I checked the car the tank was lower than minimum. Refilled the tank, started the car, the red light by the temp gauge not blinking any more. Checked the rear bottom of the car....water dripping from the water pump area and a noise like a bad ball bearing. I'm sure it is the water pump. Order it today.
  11. I don't have Bluetooth so it won't affect me. Will take that in consideration if I ever get a receiver with Buletooth.
  12. I've not done it to my 996 C2 MY99 but did it in my Tundra, Used a wireless camera. Will do the same with the 996.
  13. Checked the mounts but did not see any leakage although that does not means the mounts are OK. Read some posts where there was no leakage and the mounts were still bad. Will be getting the mounts next week. Already copied the DIY steps in order to replace them. Will update.
  14. Never checked the motor mounts, For some reason the motor mounts came to mind. Hope that's is the problem. Thanks guys. How could I check the mounts? Is it an easy DIY?
  15. MY99 C2 85k miles. When I start my car there is a vibration coming from the engine compartment. RPM are steady, no leaks,no noises, no errors recorded with the PST2. The car has been driven and everything is like normal but the vibration is a concern.Any ideas?
  16. How do I get the results from the system check? when I press >> to stop it goes to the previous screen and no results. Does it means the system check came out OK?
  17. Mr. Hamilton, followed your instructions and you were correct, worked fine. THANKS
  18. The screen, at least in my PST2, to code the auto lock, does not have the F8 at the bottom of the screen but by pressing F8 on the laptop computer did take the change. As always your assistance has been of GREAT help. !!!!THANKS!!!
  19. Thanks fro your your response. There is no F* option on the bottom of the screen but will try pressing the keyboard F8 key.
  20. Hi: MY99 C2, PST2 V24. Tried to program the auto lock features from V4 to V2 but when I press F4 (save) the button, on the screen, grays out and nothing else happens. No indication that it was saved althoguh I waited several seconds. Any ideas? Thanks
