  1. Done. Filler plug removed. When I first used the "freeze and release" spray, waited about 1 hr. Did not work. Put some more, about 2 days ago and today did tap the plug not too hard and it came out GREAT. Thanks. Noticed this magnetic plug p/p 99906300802. Is it recommended to use it as the drain plug? Don't think is necessary to use one as a filler plug as well.
  2. I just loosen the drain Did not empty the oil for that same reason. The transmission oil is ALL there. Thanks for the advise.
  3. The 10 mm allen fits. Will try rising the car a bit more in order to have more room for the break bar. Would it be ok to tap on the plug to see if it helps, how about an impact wrench?
  4. This is not in regards to the oil drain plug but in reference to the transmission fill plug, Guess is the same type of issue, difficult plug. Was able to loosen the transmission drain plug, was hard but not as much as the filler plug. I've been trying to unscrew the transmission fill plug but is extremely tight. For what I see is not an aluminium type. I'm afraid if i put too much force it will get stripped. Tried nut loosing liquid with no help. Any suggestions?
  5. If you want to save some $ and you are not tracking the car Bilstein USA will rebuild yours like new for a fraction of the price. Check with them. http://www.bilsteinus.com/products/search-service/service/
  6. Good point Kim. Guess with two crossbars. Put the jack stand under the cross bars at the jacking point. But On previous posts in this topic, Logray posted a link with another method explained by Orient Express which I used, it works and is cheaper :).
  7. Would like to know why is the OIL and Transmission fluid change recommended to be done at working temperature? What is the difference in changing them cold? The torque for the Oil drain plug in the DIY topic shows 37 Ft-Lb, for the filter shows 19 Ft-Lb. My torque wrench is in NM's. What is the equivalent? Also. isn't 37 Ft a little too much. The LN Engineering plug ask for 19 Ft.
  8. Makes sense about the different metals. Although already bought the OEM will order the LN Engineering drain plug. Think is worth the wait. Thanks.
  9. Did it. Noticed that there was no washer, could that be the reason why it was so hard it got stripped? There is a pinned topic in regards to the stripped oild drain plug. Loren mentions that Porsche has a SS oil drain plug and provided this number: 900.219.015. SS
  10. Thanks. Thought about it but was not sure.Think I may have a Craftman Drill-out power extractor. Need to look for it, too many gadgets in too little space. LOL.
  11. Just got them a bout 2 hrs ago. Thanks. However, have a new problem, the oil drain plug is will not accept any wrench, is rounded. Think is made of aluminium. How can I take it out (unscrew) Will be getting a new one tomorrow at Vertex Auto here in Miami. Although purchased one was wondering if this is convenient. http://www.ebay.com/itm/MAGNET-Oil-Drain-Plug-PORSCHE-911-924-928-944-968-/160680737982?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Make%3APorsche&hash=item2569517cbe&vxp=mtr
  12. I've been looking for the Mobil 1 SM 5w50 but all I can find is Moibil 1 5w50. Is it the same oil?
  13. Hi: Regardless of the brand preferred by each owner, for a MY99, manual, RWD, with around 84K miles,in Miami Fl., what oil viscosity is recommended, 0w-40 or 5w-40?
  14. I was planning on make a device with which the car could be jacked by the jacking points but evenly, the rear or the front. Was thinking in using a steel square tube of 2 x 2 and of a heavy gauge, like a gauge 11. It will be long enough to reach the jacking points from one side to the other (rear or front) like the diagram posted. The jack would be placed in the center of the square tube, lift the car and then place the jack towers at the jacking points. That way the rear or front is raised evenly. Would it work, any suggestions?
  15. Remember seeing in one of the posts that it was not recommended to flush the coolant with air due to a possible burst of one of the hoses.I do have a wetvac, can a wetvac be used suck out the coolant? Another question, once the coolant is mixed (50/50 distilled water) what is the shelf life? Does it goes bad or looses its properties? Panning to have the remaining unused coolant stored.
  16. That's why I wanted to replace the coolant. Is at least 5 yrs old  Rather have more coolant available that needing to order some at the last moment. Thanks for your responses and the link.
  17. Do you have to empty all the coolant from the system or the Airlift does that as well? Just asking before searching for the coolant replacement.
