  1. I recently had my headlights stolen and in the process they broke the trays.I got headlights and trays from wicked porsche. I need to know how to remove the broken trays. Any help would be great http://www.autoatlanta.com/porsche-parts/996-99-05/905-03.php
  2. Ok, so I got rid of my 1997 boxster and got a 2002 Porsche 996 eith 70k miles in white fully loaded for 16,500 from a private seller. Nothing is wrong with except the headlights. The previous owner passenger headlight ballast/bulb were shot , so I had to replace it. I want to start off with that I think the car had factory bi-xenons but I dont remember as the ballast on the driver's side was rusted and I had removed it and thrown it away along with passenger side. Also one note the previous owner had cracked open the headlights and had the entire interior inside housing of the light painted the same color as the body of the car (white) I am guess like the lambo or ferrari look. I started to look for a HID set in H7 to fit my car. So I got this Slim kit for like $75 dollars 6k temp. I installed it and ...well let's just say I had problems. For one when I turn the light knob on the lights don't go on. So I started hitting the highbeams and well to my surprise the HIDs lite up. The problem is that they are not bright at all... almost dull. They dont give off alot of light and when I drove in the dark I did not even know my headlights were on. So now my question is what could it be? bulbs? ballast? Also I upgraded the fuses for the headlights from 15 amp to 30 amp. Another thing I didn't want to leave out is that I used the power supply harness from the factory lights brown/yellow wires to plug directly plug into the aftermarket ballast. Anyone have suggestion feel free to let me know .
  3. What is the carpet made out of in the boxster. What are the fibers? nylon?
  4. Lol, loren thanks for the info, for that amount of money I could buy new seats porsche really knows how to stick you lol. Just curisous look at part 996 613 955 00 , tell if that is the same thing. Cause not really detailed description.
  5. This is what I am looking for... its not listed in the parts yet #8 and #9 are attached to it.
  6. If you look above part #11 its the leveler that moves the back part of the back/forth. Then look at the parts #8 and #9, they are attached to the harness which leads to the back of the leveler. Is what you see in my first posted picture. Oops sorry , Loren, here is the picture of what I am looking for.
  7. 1997 Porsche boxster , the only adjustable part of the seat is the incline/decline back part. The part I am looking for is what is actually behind the seat control panel. The "Red" arrow is the only electrical control part I have on my seats. If you looke behind the leveler there is the electronic piece which allow the level to move the seat back and forth. The picture I post first is the piece behind the control panel. The white piece which I know is not sold alone is part of the box/harness... I need that part # so I can order it and replace it. This is not my exact seat but I figured that by me putting an arrow on the part I was talking about that it would be easier to show.
  8. I recently experienced this shaking of my steering wheel. Here is what I noticed when its really cold the steering wheel does not shake at all or if it does its very little. On the day this week that is was 50-55 degrees in nj, the steering wheel was noticably shaky. So now it could just be happening no matter what the temp outside is but.. Where do I look to see what is worn or broke? Is the control arms? Its not the wheels as the rims were just balanced and are true. So anyone please give me their ideas.
  9. My car is in the shop and the guy working on it me he is getting a measurement of 2 volts to the courtesy lights and dome light. Ignition switch light was replaced already, any ideas. Plus a few buttons on dashboard do not light.
  10. Ok, so here is my question. I was in contact with a guy who works on Porsches and I told him that my immobilizer might have gotten wet and might be causing me some issues. So I asked him if I could buy a used one on ebay or at a junk yard.He stated if I did buy one somewhere that I need to have the vin # from the car it came from. Now my question is this one is this true? Also if I did find the Alarm and got the vin # with it to from a legit place could my keys be programmed to work with it. Also would I ever have a problem ordering more keys now that my immobilizer had another vin # associated with it. Or is the vin# needed only to access the immobilizer to re-program and load my correct vin #. Please let me know what you think.
  11. You replaced interior sensor.. Where is this part? can you give me a part # or and location for it, Thanks. My problems are that my courtesy interior lights and some of dashboard lights do not turn on at night when the headlight switch is in the on position . Also my convertible top does not move unless I have my headlight in the on position. The e-brake is up and its not the brake light switch cause it has been checked... That is why I decided to use my duramteric.
  12. Well, the reason why I want to look this codes up is cause they been there for a long time... Hence I wanted to look them up. You had suggested using the Durametric which is what I did and came up with these codes. So that is why I posted them. Do you have a site for the codes. I do not have the manual for it. also I dont want to spend a ton of money at a repair shop and get ripped off when the car is worth like 9k and spend couple of grand cause its a "porsche" , I live in NYC where they like to make people spend their money over minor issues.
  13. Loren, Some can be reset but not the ones in the alarm.. where do I get a error list. For porsche so i know what to look for . Also some fuses are popped would that cause codes?
  14. Can anyone tell me what these mean. This first list is from : alarm unit: 16 Signal from airbag Status: not present Frequency counter: 2 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 21 W lead (DME immobilizer) Status: not present Frequency counter: 3 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 49 K lead Status: not present Frequency counter: 1 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 25 W lead Status: not present Frequency counter: 8 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 33 Interior sensor faulty Status: not present Frequency counter: 9 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 41 Transponder pill faulty or not present Status: not present Frequency counter: 11 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 47 Control locking synchronization Status: not present Frequency counter: 25 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 34 Interior sensor faulty Status: present Frequency counter: 1 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3 Door lock barrel open actuated longer than 60 s Status: not present Frequency counter: 1 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Heating & Air Conditioning Current Fault Codes -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 20 Combi-interface fault -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 24 Power supply (terminal 15) fault -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 28 Footwell defr. flaps motor fault Motronic 5.2.2 Current Fault Codes -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- P1602 Porsche fault code 660 - CAN timeout - instrument cluster -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- P1571 Porsche fault code 39 - Immobilizer -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- P1691 Unknown DTC: 1691 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- P1600 Porsche fault code 216 - CAN timeout PSM
  15. maybe if i put a clear on the panels? Pk2 what du think?
  16. Hello, I recently dyed my carpet in my car. I followed the directions which said to clean the carpet thoroughly and then vacuum it. I let it sit until it dried . Then I applied thin coats onto the carpet evenly letting it dry after each coat. After three weeks i went to feel the carpet and it was alittle stiff to the touch. I figured I would shampoo it and that it would make it looser. Well it got looser but the color bled right out.. The carpet is now like a blk/greyish color. What is the deal with that? Then the same paint i used for the door panel which is calls for and the paint seems to be really sensitive and if you scratch, bump, or rub it the paint comes right off. The prep on the door panel I used a wipe that took all oils, grease, armor all, or anything, got completely stripped. Yet is still seems to come right off.. What is the deal? Any one have an idea what is going on? This is the product I used.. http://www.detailyourcar.com/vinyl-plastic-carpet-dye-p-258.html
  17. I did everything I could and the plug still doesn't work. I ordered another one its used but its clean so I will have to connect all 11 wires. There is no other choice as I took it apart and its not working still.
  18. pk can we chat on either yahoo messenger arlindanchris... or aol arlindanchris
  19. its clean/dry and was cleaned already.. its not the Immobilizer , its the contacts in the harness. I just want to know if there is a way of opening the plastic pieces. The immobilizer is not the issue at all .. I just don't know If i should have the harness replaced.. All signs point to that is the case. The harness right now is on angle and the lights are works as we speak as I am seating in the passenger side of the car. So What can I spray in the harness plastic to clean it. I used nail polisher remover to clean the metal contacts on the immobilizer but I am not sure I able to clean in the tight area of the contacts in the harness plastic piece.
  20. Ok, I been having issues with my interior lights and other random stuff. I narrowed it down to the Porsche 986 996 Alarm Unit Immobilizer Wiring Harness. It seems the blk harness when its seated correctly it makes the dome light to faintly turn on but not a full strength. When I wiggled the harness and angled on the immobilizer unit it the lights came on full strength. I wiggled all the wires connected to the plastic piece and its not the wires as I can see. its the metal contacts inside the plastic piece. What is the next step, cause I found a harness for sale.. the question is it the immobilizer or wiring harness. My car is a 1997 boxster.<H2 class="vi-it-itSbHd"></H2>
  21. Maurice, I did as you said and went under my driver's seat and there is 0 water near or around the immoblizer. When it got wet the last time, I dried it out and the problems did not occur at all . It just happened one day out of the blue that the lights on the door panels, top center light and a few of the buttons on the console did not light or work. I have the durametric tool but its kinda of useless for anything except if it throws a code which in this instance there are no error codes at all. My question to you is this. I have checked all the fuses and they are all aright. How can I check and see if there is voltage going through the wires to the back of the buttons. For example the lighter works but the trim around it does not illuminate when I turn on the headlight switch... I mean what else could cause this. To make it a bit clearer I will put it this way. The water got to the immobilizer 2 1/2 yrs ago. The lights/buttons, and top not working with the headlight turn to the on position occurred like 6-8 mths ago... After reading all the electrical problems which occur from the ignition going bad that is why I thought it would be cause from that. Also one minor thing that happened today that may or may not help you narrow down my problem. I turned the key to shut off the car . While pulling out the key out of the ignition I did not hear that locking sound which you get when the key is being taking out. Almost like an lock engaging which would not allow to you see move the steering wheel cause it would lock it in place once you moved it a certain turn. It seemed as like the cyclinder lock was tricked into thinking the key was still in the ignition. So i went to put my thumb on it and push it and then the lock engaged and i heard the clicking noise.. Not sure if this related to the other electrical problems I am having. Any info you think you can give me to narrow it down to what the problems are with my car would be greatful.
