  1. The black molding at the bottom of the window on the door and the rear window do not line up.. If I pull of the the doors themselves no problem closing the door or rubbing. The doors seem to be dipping down... Is there a way to tighten the door hinge.. The part of the hinge that has a torx screw which is visible its nice in tight, but I have a feeling that whatever is inside the door is out of alignment, any info on that. When I bought the car the guy said the doors needed to be lined up better. I would if it was just one side it might be the window but I think my thought is pretty on the spot that its the door not the window. The doors look like the are open ajar, the gaps are a bit more then need be, I would I could take a picture but its too late here and dark to take one

Are you sure it is the doors and not the window alignment?

How do the gaps between the front fender look top to bottom and side to side?

How does the gap between the rear quarter panel and door line up?

If those look good and equal then the problem is in the window alignment.

  2. It seems that both driver and passenger doors were removed to repaint my car prior to me owning it. Now I have noticed that respectively the corner of the windows of the doors drop the 10mm but rub the back windows. So i did alittle investing and noticed that the doors on ball sides are not lining up. If I pill the handle to open the door I can pull up north/south and feel the door going up and down . If I pull handle which entail pulls the door up about 2-3 inches the window does not rub on the rear window and the door closes with out a problem so I need to know where I can adjust or tighten to make the door line up

  3. The aftermarket headers are 2.25, what is the stock headers opening size? If i got this correct the oem 2" in/out so that means .5" difference, is there much of a different in sound? I am not worried about horsepower gains cause i am supercharging my car . I have the aftermarket pse mod, so there is good sound but just want to know if this increase the sound much more? One more question I have headers from my 1997 boxster 2.5L , I am wondering if I can use them for my 2002 996 c2?

  4. Hello,

I have odd problem with my passenger door lock/window. For one when I lift the the outside/inside handle the window does not drop the 10mm its suppose to. The other problem has to do when I manually unlock the car with key on the driver's side door. If I do not put the key in the ignition soon after unlocking the alarm sound goes off making it think the car is being broken into .. Go any suggestions? I know that the window not dropping can be either the inside/outside handle microswitch OEM-99661312300 ...but what is your take on the alarm sounding when I unlock. What microswitch is in control of the lock to tell the alarm that it was unlocked by a key.

  5. So , I will start by telling the long story in the short version. I bought a 2002 c2 with 65k miles on it. I had to do main. on the car . For example ignition switch, keys, etc. Well now have a like "loose change" sound or something loose its coming from the front of my driver's side wheel area. So I had my mechanic put it on the lift and check it out. I should mention that I sprayed wd40 on the shock/spring and lower control arm thinking it was a bushing issue that might have gone away with it being lubed up. That really didn't work.. Well my mechanic said to me that he thinks the shock is blown cause there is fluid all over and also that the control arm is shot. I was too embarassed to tell him I sprayed wd40 on the shock area. The part oem for the control arm is 330 and labor is 90 for one hr to replace the control arm. I am not sure the shock is blown but here is what makes me wonder though if it indeed is. When I exit the car it makes a creeking noise as if i was 400 lbs (I am 190 lbs) and that by me removing myself from the seat it relieved the stress of my weight on the shock/springs. Could this sound be from the lower control arm? Also when I push down on the fender of my car on the same side where the noise comes from its makes the same noise as me exiting. Should I just invest in coilovers and replace the entire shocks n struts for like 1200 or should I replace everything with bilstein for 900 including labor? I also can do just the front two shocks ....I thought shocks were lifetime warranty?

  6. Ok, my idea is simple I have thise side skirts from these website http://www.jdltuning.com/porsche/porsche-boxtser-jdl-bodykit.html, which is from my 99 porsche boxster convertible. I never installed them but I am wondering if these will fit my 2002 996. They are the old style ones which go on with epoxy or 3m tape.. can anyone confirm if they would fit.

  7. I am sorry for being a pain in the *** but I am having two issues 2002 996 . The first is that is that when I lock the car the car locks both doors but when I go to unlock it the passenger side door does not unlock and if I don't put the key in the ignition with in a few seconds the alarm goes off thinking the car is getting broken into. The lock button functions when i shut the doors with no problem .I tried to to turn the key to the left twice to unlock it but had no luck as the lock only opens on the driver's side. The second problem seems to be that the front trunk/hooddoes not open when i press the button and even if I use the jump start procedure it does nothing at all. I tried pulling out the red like fuse thing for the trunk and reset but it still didnt do anything. This happened once before and after about hour or so of sitting i pressed the release button and it popped open like it should. I should mention that I have a remote key but its not functional

Any ideas on any of my problems

  8. Ok, I want to start off with I have a 2002 996 c2. I bought the car alittle over a month ago and have done some maintence stuff since the previous owner did not. When I first got the car the one headlight (oem litronic) was cracked and so I decided on buying oem set of lights from Wicked Porsche who mostly does conversions so they have a decent amount of headlights on hand. I got a pretty good price for the lights and they were in great shape (no yellowish lens). Another thing I noticed was the ignition switch when I put the key in to start the car was either getting stuck too much to the right or the key was getting stuck in the ignition. So therefore I replaced the ignition switch and it fixed those problems. Until of course the new problem occurred lastnight while I was waiting for my wife to come out of the store. I had my car running and decided to shut off the headlights . When my wife came out of the store , I went to turn on the headlights, and to my surprise they did not turn on. The lights that did turn on were city lights in the headlight and also sidemarker light. I actually had to engage the highbeams which I had pull towards me to keep them on. Alittle background prior to putting the new headlights I upgraded the fuses from 7.5 to 25. After arriving home I decided to shut off the car and inspect what may have caused this headlight issue. I checked the fuses but both of them were, ok. I then decided to turn the car back on and turn the headlight switch on and still no lights. After several attempts the headlights decided to come on but once I shut off the headlights and tried to put them back no dice. So what do you think it is?

Just added note, I went to car this morning turned on the headlights and they work fine... what is the deal? I have researched this issue on this forum as well is the other ones but want to know if I am correct thinking its the headlight switch. If so where is the cheapest place to get it. Couple places have them but they range from $123 to on ebay 207.

  9. The design is extremely poor as well cause the light harness that clips into the back of the light never lines up with the back of the headlight.. any tricks? I have the clip/harness for the headlight where it was suppose to be on the old trays but for some reason everytime I would take out the headlights and then put them back in.. I would never get lucky and have them line up with the harness.
