  1. Hi I already tried to connect to the terminals directly w/o going thru the battery. Also, even if I have a bad ignition switch, I would think other small lights should come on, right?
  2. My 996C2 (MY1999) was left parked for 1 hour and would not start as if there was no battery at all. No lights would turn on. First I thought it was a dead battery so I tried to jump on an external battery pack. With it, I was able to open the door remotely. However, when I turned the key on, the engine would not start. No lights at all on the dashboard either. There was no sign of electiricity thruout the car. I've done all possible troubleshootings i could while waiting for the towtruck to show up. 1. Disconnected the terminal from the battery 2. Connect the terminals directly to the external powersource ( did not work) 3. Connect the terminals to other car using a set of jumper cables (did not work) 4. Connect the jumper cables to the battery for 10 mins to charage (did not work) 5. Check all the fuses (fine) 6. try to turn on hazard light (did not work) yes, polarities were connected appropriately. The car was finally towed to a local porsche dealer and the tech spent 10 min doing a simple troubleshooting as he had 4 other cars he was working on. I asked him there was such a thing called "Master fuse" in the car, and he said there is one but it almost never blows up. If it does, he said it would take all day to replace it as he has to remove the entire dashboard + more. I hope this is not something dramtic. If you have any clue what the cause could be, please let me know. Thanks.
  3. Hello, I followed the instruction and was able to remove the left headlight assembly but the right side won't come out after turning the lever. I could see the headlight assembly gets lifted as I turn the lever but the top portion where the rubber seals meet the fender won't move at all as if they got stuck. Any suggestion? I tried to wiggle back and forth for 5 minutes and finally gave up.
  4. Loren, you are always very helpful. :-) Maybe this is a sign telling me to get a different muffler! Fabspeed or PSE
  5. hello my car makes some funny rattling noise when the engine is warm (in the normal operation range). there are two distintive noises. 1. it sounds like thin metal sheets are rubbing each other. i suspect this is something to do with heat shielding material used around the muffler but i could be wrong but i am 100% positive this comes from the muffler area. 2. i also hear some knocking noise when 1. happens. i wonder if these two are related. i cant quite figure out where this comes from but as i reve the engine 2-3K, this goes away. this also may be related to the external vibration of some kind. i dont hear any noise when the engine is running cool. this only happens as the engine gets warmed up. my car has 14K miles. any idea?
  6. I opened the tiny lid on the roof where a rack mount is fastened but it won't close. It looked like the plastic hinge got popped out of its place. I can see there are 4 tiny plastic hooks but can't figure out how I can put those back in. Do I have to remove the rail? Any help will be much appreciated. I know.. What was I thinking. Why did I bother to open the lid first place...
  7. i just bought 1999 996 c2 w/12K miles from my friend. the car is in a fanstastic condition. i realized today when i start the car, the fan in the engine compartment kicks in and shuts itself off in a couple of minutes. is this normal?
