I have a problem that has occured over the past 4 hours where every 30mins my car alarm goes off horn and all. I have driven the car during the four hours and it is off and parked in my driveway as the alarm goes off. Please help so that I can go to bed :o

2005 Cayenne S

One feature I wish I had ordered with my 2005 Cayenne S is the TPMS tire pressure monitoring. Any chance I can install it myself or not possible?

Cayenne S 2005 with Auto Headlights. This is a feature I have always used and loved it...but now it doesn't work and my Porsche Dealer was not able to fix it. What happens now is that the lights always stay on when on Auto even in the sunlight.

How they are supposed to work, and always have until recently, is the headlights come on when its dark out and turn off when its light out. It is great for driving through long tunnels or parking garages.

My Porsche dealer here in NYC said that since my car has not thrown an error message so they can't troubleshoot it. Then the service manager tried to explain to me that they were working fine since the lights come on and started to descibe what are "day time running lights" which clearly the Auto Light option is not day time running lights...strange that he would try to sell me that story.

Anyway, any idea of how I can troubleshoot this myself? Is there a sensor that needs to be replaced that senses the ambiant light?

I am looking at a private seller 2005 C2S that is fully loaded (full leather, nav,chrono) with about 14k miles on it.

The seller said he was offered 42k and he was not interested.

1- What would be a fair price for this car?

2-The warranty just expired. I read about problems with 2005 997. Can I get this car certified from Porsche\get the warranty extended? Ballpark on how much that cost?

ok I did the oil change on my 2005 Cayenne S and I have to say it was really simple.

I didn't even have to jack the car to remove the panels or drain the oil. It would have been even easier if you did.

Basically here it is:

1- Remove the front plastic under panels (about 7 screws)

2- Now you can remove the rear plactic under panel (about 4 screws)

3- With a 8mm socket wrench unscrew and drain both plugs, clean, and put plugs back in

4- Undo Oil filter housing and discard old filter

5- Install new Oil Filter housing with new filter

6- Re-install rear and then front plastic panels back

7- Fill with 9 quarts of 0-40 Mobil 1

They say to replace the trim ring on the oil filter and the aluminum rings on the drain plugs. Although I had all of these parts I ended up not replacing any of them. Reason is that the plastic trim ring was in great condition and would have only been ruined by removing it. Having said that I will replace it next oil change.

The aluminum rings are another story. While also in great condition, the rings that were on the drain were beveled so that they fit super snug with the drain plug while the aluminum rings that I ordered from Porsche were not beveled and although fit perfectly they were not as snug fitting. Again I will change these next time around I think but to do this for each oil change seems like more could go wrong then right. Either way you save little time and money not changing them so for me it was just a judgement call after cleaning and examining all the parts.

Finally for the service light to be turned off you need a Durametric type tool. No way around that unless you want to pay your dealer $200 to turn it off or pay for the $700 oil change. For $225 you can get the durametric which I own and will say that it is "ok" for the Cayenne. A lot of mysterious error codes and bugs in the software (crashes) and I think the 911 owners get the most out of the tool.

All in all I was nervous about doing the oil change but will say it was easier then my old mitsubishi.

Thoughts on doing oil change before I get a service light?

I have all the parts I need (including the Durametric tool) but the question I have is should I wait until my "Service engine" light comes on before I do the oil change? I bought my Cayenne CPO (supposed to change the oil) and I have only but 4000 miles on since.

I asked the Durametric folks why they supported so few features for the Cayenne 05+ compared to the other model Porsche's and they wrote back and said they do but the website matrix had not been updated.

Thanks I might pick that up as well, kinda stinks that for the 2005 and up it can only read a few items unlike the earlier models. I do wonder what exactly the oil reminder light reset does, I mean is it just a counter that goes off at 10,000 miles or so? Or is there more intelligence.

There must be some sort of VAG tool to reset this correct?

Would be happy to take pictures and write it up if you sent me the instructions.

My dealer wants $675 to change the oil on my 2005 Cayenne S. I searched the forum but did not see a DIY. Anyone care to share or post a link. Thank you I assume it will be cheaper :D

Looking to buy a tan rubber cargo mat so that I don't rough up the back cargo area. I see that Porsche only sells a black one, can anyone recommend one I should purchase I see a lot out there and not sure on the quality. I do want someting that is rubber\plastic and not carpet.

Just purchased a Cayenne S 2005 and I read in the manual that it recommends 98 Octane but can handle 95...

Well every gas station around has 93 as the highest grade they sell. So what am I missing? Is 93 hurting the car?
