  1. you miss the point .. i still have DRL i am just using the parking lights, instead of burning up the HID's. I just don't want to appear to lumenescence to the gendarmes
  2. My lights work fine with the relay pulled, I like it much better without the HID's coming on when i start the car. Plus it makes the car less conspicuous without the HID's on during the day when carving through traffic. .....
  3. bulbs arrived (only took 7 days form the UK) work great, they are very close to the "whiteness" of the HID's. I have pulled out the DRL relay to stop the HID's from coming on when i start the car. I'll just use the parking lights as DRL saving the HID's .. They also sent (free as a promo) replacement bulbs for the side markers. They are a blue tint to replace the orange ones. I'll put them in on the weekend and see how they look, might start a new trend ....
  4. I found one bulb burnt out and one the lamp had come loose from the metal base. It worked when I powered it but didn"t when i re-installed it. (that's what happens when you rush, and over think things ..) I ordered Phillips blue vision bulbs from the UK, I'll let you know how they work ...... http://www.powerbulbs.com/product_detail.asp?prod=29
  5. okay thanks Loren, I will chase it this weekend, from what I have found out it is normal for a Canadain car to have the headlights as the DRL. Cheers
  6. I removed a bulb and powered it, yes they work, appears no power to the circuit .... not sure how to trouble shoot it ...
  7. I pulled the relay and started the car to see if that would make the small halogens come on but didnt have any luck. but it did stop the HID's coming on when the headlamp swith is in the off position .... The real goal is to get the small 5w halogens working, any advice would be appreciated
  8. Yes, the double relay is there and I confirmed it is a Canadian car C36 option ....
  9. Are you sure your car is a Canadian build car? Did you check it with the VIN decoder? If you are sure it is a Canada car then start by checking for the double relay in positions 6 and 7. Thanks for the quick reply, yes it is a Canadian car, I will check for the relay as suggested, assuming that the relay is there, how should I start trouble shooting?
  10. I posted something similar, months ago but the problem was never solved. So i thought I'd try again.... My car has litronic headlights that come on when I start the car, even with the headlight switch in the off position. The headlight assembly has the 5w halogen parking lights that I assume should be the DRL but they never come on. ( not even as parking lights) Any ideas on what to check to get the sequence right so the 5w lamps to turn on as the DRL and the main headlights don't? Cheers 2001 C4 - Canadian car 115k km manual 6 speed
  11. i bet your really going through tires, you can pick up 3 tenths by changing your line and holding your breath in the fast corners .... negative camber won't cure understeer in a C4 .... ( just my humble opinion after a single malt or 2 !!!)
  12. I don't think adding more negative camber will help, it might make the under teer worse. Try some toe out and stiffen the rear
  13. Loren, thanks for the reply, these are the "X" option codes on my car, they look pretty common to me X54 Oval Chrome Exhaust Pipes X70 Metal Door Sill with Insignia X71 Aluminum Instrument Dials X97 Aluminium/leather shift knob X98 Aluminium/leather parking break handle XJ6 Leather Steering Wheel Casing XSC Crest on Headrest XR6 Leather Front Backrests Lock Controls (standard with Y67 and Y18)
  14. 2001 C4 110k km 6 speed I have option code 236 but it doesn't show in the decoder list, what is it? and I have an option 09991 " manufacture from the exclusive - program" does anyone know what that means. http://www.kindel.com/Porsche/options.asp this is where I got the 09991 descrition, it doesn't come up in the decoder on this (renntech) site Cheers
  15. That's SOP, absolutely normal, for Canadian DRL specifications. After owning a 99 of Canadian origin I modified my 2001 C4 to operate the street/parking/tail/DRL lamps the same way. Except the '01 has specialty european 5 watt halogen DRLs instead of using the HID headlamps. I replaced the 5 watt halogens with 3 watt Luxeon LEDs with a collimator lens. Thanks for the reply, just so i understand, in your experiance the HID should be on when the switch is in the off position, my car doesn't appear to have the 5 watt hallogen DRL, the HID are on as the DRL in the vertical off position.
  16. 2001 C4 110k km Canadian car The car should have daytime running lights because it is a Canadian car but all the lights are on with the headlamp switch in the off position. Headlights tail lights etc. When I move it clockwise to parking lamp position the interior gauge lights come on, in the night time position there is no change all lights remain on. The headlamp switch doesn't turn anti-clockwise to the rear park position. Any suggestions on what to check? P.S. update on the "dead" radio issue I had, the is a 10 amp fuse on the backside of the radio where the harness plugs in that had failed, the radio works now, which is a good thing because I can't hear the front end rattle anymore !!!
  17. Yes, I checked both fuses (location D8 and D9) they are good, Is there a fuse on the amp that could have blown?
  18. Thanks, that makes sense, one last quick unrelated question, the radio (crd 220 ?) is dead, fuse is okay, any ideas? seems like no power, did these radios have any history of this, or is is just time to replace it? great site btw, you should be comended for your dedication to the cause ......
  19. Great, thanks for the advice, I hope that it is that simple, I recently the tie rods changed, had it aligned and the steering wheel is off centre, is that because they messed up the toe-in adjustment??
  20. 2001 C4 110k km Front end makes a rattling noise at low speed going over bumbs, any ideas on what to check ?? Thanks
