  1. Hi All,

I have a '98 Boxster that I upgraded to a CDR-220 so I could have Ipod connectivity. Now I have located a factory rear speaker kit, but see that I have a four channel amplifier, which I belive will not work well, or at all. I did a search and found many threads about the Bose amp, but I do not think that is what I need.

I know that the stock system is lousy to any and all audiophiles, but it is just fine for me, so I would like to know which amp I need, either model year or part number would be very helpful.

    Thanks in advance,

    Sebastian

i believe the factory rear speaker kit that fits in the storage compartment behind you has a plug that plugs in the rear of the crd220... trying looking for instructions on installing the rear speakers and it'll show you were exactly it needs to get plugged.

  2. been trying to search for a DIY for the oil filler tube but can't seem to find one. if you can help with some instructions that would be awesome!

thanks maurice!! will take a look...

  3. got home after an 15 mile tow ride... asked aaa for a flatbed and what comes along... a regular two truck... didn't want to pull the car but it was 1130pm and the driver said they had no flatbeds due to it being out 100+ miles away for another tow... he said i could wait for it (4 hours) I was like if you can pull it safely just pull it... i didn't need someone vandalizing and stealing things from the car.... got home put the scanner on and put got two codes... p1128 and p1130.. any input or ideas.... is it still the AOS? funny how the driver kept saying its a headgasket and he hands me a business card for a shop that i should go to and let them know i was referred by him... i was how can it be a headgasket.... oil and coolant levels are fine, no overheating.... just had waterpump and coolant flush about a 1000 miles ago and also an oil change...

  4. Ok need some opinins on this one but I'm hoping it's nothing too bad. I was drving and came to a red light look down at the dash and se th check engine light on. Solid and not blinking so I wasn't too worried. Drove about another mile and got to a buddies house so I decided to turn the car off to see if it'll go away. As soon as I turn off the engine and hear like a rush of air or liquid flowing. I'm like ok maybe ac compressor. I turn key to crank and wait for countdown and he oil levels is Dan to nothing. Get out of the far and check the oil level with the dipstick and it's ok. No coolant smell or white residue in the oil. Open the coolant tank still full and looking nice and orange. Get in the car and a puff large puff of smoke comes out. Turn it off and try again another large puff of smoke. No noise of metal rattling bust a u turn and still no prblem with the engine. Turn it off and try to start if again and puff page smoke with no rattling. Engine sounds fine. I'm thinking the AOS just took a crap and if it's done doesn't hold pressure in the oil system therefore showing the low oil level. No oil dump. Temperature is normal. What u guys think.. :o

  5. coming home i noticed that the vents were blowing a bit hot but didn't pay attention. went out to check my headlights and started the car and again the vent air was hot. hit the ac button and still hot, moved temperature all the way down to lo and still was hot. but when you turn the ignition off and just let the fan blow, the air cools down. the engine temp is where it is and no problem in terms of overheating. i changed the water pump and flushed the coolant about 1000 miles ago and had no problem like this before. car is a 00 2.7 with only 40k miles any ideas?

  6. hello. 986 my 2004. i just replaced my muffler with the cargraphic one for boxster 2.7/3.2, and noticed vibration in the steering wheel and even in the doors at idle and when i just touch the throttle to start moving. once moving, no vibration and just nice deep sporty sound from the new exhaust. is this vibration normal? can i somehow get rid of it or does it come with the sport exhaust as a bonus? thanks

probably resonance from the muffler giving it the vibes..

  7. just wondering if i can mix oil viscosities... when i had my car ppi and they did a oil filter analysis they topped it off with a mixture of 5w30 and 15w50 so i assumed they must have made a mistake and accidentally hit the button wrong so i went ahead and did an oil change using 5w30... i don't want to waste the oil in the car as its only been a few hundred miles and was wondering if i can drain out half of the oil and just mix it with 15w50... any help would be good... thanks.

  8. found the diy for the coolant replacement so i bought the one they had recommended on the diy which was the zerex g-05... the reason i needed to do this was i needed to replace the waterpump... got everything out and noticed that the original coolant was orange / pink in color... i thought the zerex was gonna be the same color but when i put it in the distilled mixture it was green... is it okay to use the zerex or should i just drain that out and put havoline dexcool in... any help would be great...

  9. Hi guys,

I installed a rain sensor in my 996, so I had no use for the intermittent wiper switch. I started looking into what to replace it with, didn't had alot of option, another power outler? what about a start button??

So I tried a couple of universal kit out there, but they either didn't work or switches really didn't match with the interior decor, or ran the battery down. So I customized a kit with the proper relay and wires, and found a switch, which sits flush with the trim. A kit specifically for the 996s.

Now all I gotta do is put the key in, press the button and voila!! B)

Lets see some pictures of this mod.

  11. just wondering to all the boxster owners who did not buy their cars new or who bought from a private party. if you purchased an aftermarket warranty, which company did you use and approximately how much do they cost. also have they paid for claims presented. really curious abut the one ones who had to have their engines replaced. thanks y'all

  12. thinking of getting a 2000 boxster to replace the 1997 i recently sold. I know about the rms thing... Is there some known problem on the year 2000 2.7 boxsters that might be problematic like a IMS or porousity problem or something to worry about. Just asking because this was the first year of the 2.7 and egas thingy. Also would a ppi find any potential problems on the car besides seeing the oil leaking from a possilbe rms or that brakes need changing.... are they able to see if there is a porousity problem? thanks for any input.

  13. hope i can help as i just had the same problem and was a similar situation... I removed and replaced my whole convertible top because a piece broke off and it needed the whole frame to be replaced so i removed the frame and put a used one in and had the same problem.... what you'll need to do, which is what i did was to unloosen, not remove the screws on each side of the frame and pull the frame back towards the back (trunk) and then have someone tighten the bolts and repeat on the other side.... you'll be amazed at how much it'll move... it solved my problem...hope this helps...

  14. Hi Maurice, did as you suggested on the left side now the funny thing is that the right side is now making noise or a pop when the top goes back up about halfway. The pop is on the right but as soon as it pops it just keeps going. Don't know if its the transmission or something else getting stuck on the frame. I went ahead and lubed the tracks with white lithium grease but nothing except that its much smoother. Is there anything else that could possibly cause the popping. I've actually noticed that the canvas thingy on the right does not go inside the channel as it does on the left is that a possible cause of the popping. Just want to make sure because the last time i had popping on the left and didn't attempt to fix the frame broke off where the metal ball attaches and that cost me $$$ to fix. Thanks again for the help. Mike

  15. Had a question on the window drop? i know its suppose to drop when you lift your handle but mine is acting a little funny... every two weeks or so the window drop will stop working... so what i'll do is disconnect the battery for a few minutes and the window will work again... The window works fine with the switch up and down, auto up and auto down... so just wondering where the problem can be...thanks.

  16. Question... Got a problem with my top... 1) When you raise the top the convertible top (canvas) hits the back of the roll bars so I have ot guide them over it... What needs to be adjusted so it goes over the roll bars without hitting them 2) when the clam shell cycles end and the clamshell closes these is a big pop coming from the left side. This is actually the side where the red ball was replaces because it broke. Also tried stopping it before it would make the pop and saw that the right side was slighty up compared to the left side. What needs to be done to stop the popping and have teh convertible top go over the roll bars... Thanks for your help guys...
