2001 996-C2 3.4L 6 speed Cab
Is there anything I need to know before I install a K&N #57-7000 Cold Air Intake.
I plan on doing the install this weekend and want to know any Tips or Tricks.
Thanks!
P.S. I still have the same old problem with my Engin Lid release switch. (past post)

Hey... If anyone has any ideas, I'm open!

Time to put a PST2 or PIWIS tester on the car and find out what is going on. If you were closer I would be happy to have a look.
Hi Loren, I took my C2 to a great place called Power-Tech www.pwr-tech.com.
They had the tester... Still NO LUCK... they were all over the car... this is crazy!
GOOD NEWS... I did get the oil changed... woo hoo... lol

Hi,
I had a similar problem with my Carrera 2 and it turned out to be a problem with the locking mechanism. Get someone to operate the lever as you push down on the lid at the same time, mine just popped open. Not saying it is the cause, but worth a try, you have nothing to lose
Simon
Hi Simon, I just tried what you wrote... Saddly, It did not work... Thank You tho... I'll keep trying anything.

I will...
Hey Loren, Thanks for all your help... really! This is an odd one!

Hey Loron, No nothing like that...
I did just see something... Maybe I never noticed this but, I just went out to look at it (and talk to it, lol)... The panel with the Hood Switch, the Lid Switch & the Seat Mem buttons is illuminated and NO other lights are on inside the car... I stuck my head thru the open drivers side window and look down and I can see all the little lights are all on... maybe this can tell you something.

I'm not sure what you mean by "addon mod" but it's bone stock. Oh I do have a set of 2004 5 spoke wheels & tires.
Battery is fine... I just took it out for a 10 min. little run... I put the top up and it all works fine.
This is crazy... The switch worked fine before I took it for the service... a friggin oil changes is all I wanted.
I may just have to take it to the dealer... ugggggggg!

Hi Loren... The accuator/solenoid tested well... I went to Porsche and picked-up a new Engine Lid opener Switch. I put the new switch in and i still have the same problem...
Please remember this happened when I left the car at a local repair garage. Could the guy at the garage do something to the alarm to cause this issue. I left the car with the top down (it's a cab) and picked it up with the top still down, so I know the car was inside over night... I have been reading about people having problems when leaving the key in the door.
Oh... when I put the new switch in the door sill I started playing with the Drivers Seat Mem buttons... They don't seem to be working. This could be unrelated but who knows... FYI the switches do light-up with the int. light on.
Hope we can figure this out...

Hi Loren, I'll try to jump the accuator to the Ground when I get home later... I'll order a new switch from Porsche today. Thanks for all your help... I'll let you know... If you think of anything else I can try let me know.

When you tested the switch was that out of the car? or was it tested with the push button by the seat?
The trigger mechanism goes through the alar/central locking immobilizer (so it is armed when the alarm is set). I think you could be looking for a broken wire or bad switch.
Get your ohm meter back out and start tracing back to the switch.
I tested the switch while it was in the Door Sill Panel... The odd thing is... I get a 12 volt pulse at the plug (end of the wire by the Latch) when i click the switch... I guess it's not strong enough to opperate the accuator... Is there a fuse or relay some place that I have not found.

Hi, I hope someone can help me out! I have a 2001 Carrera Cab (996 C2) 6 Speed USA 24,000 miles. This all started when I took the car to a local high-end garage to have the oil changed. The guy call me and said he put it up on the lift and then noticed he could not open the engine lid so he could not do the oil change. I went and pick up the car and tryed the Lid release button and it did not work.
The switch opperated just fine a week before.
When I got it home, I found the emergency release cable under the left tail light and opened the engine lid. WOW... That took a while. I removed the Latch to get to the Accuator and tested the 2 wire lead that is connected to the Accuator/Solenoid. I used my volt meter and when I tested the switch i got a pulse of 12 volts. With that info I went to my Local Porsche dealer a ordered a NEW Accuator/Solenoid.
I put that in and I still have the same problem. I went to check the fuse (I thought maybe the fuse had blown) and fould the Fuse Chart was missing. I order a Fuse Chart ($16) and when I picked it up today I noticed there was NO info on Engine Lid Opener Fuse.
I am at a lose... Can anyone help... Joe

Hi Guys, I have the same question... What is the proper spacing between the car body and the underside of the hard Top. I think mine (i just picked up a used one) is sitting to high.
