I purchased a clear piece of hose from the plumbing section of my local Lowe's.
Climbed under the car with one end snaked through the rear wheel housing and had a kind neighbor slowly pour in the new fluid from up top. Have some sort of tool with you to pinch off the hose when transmission is full so as to avoid a large mess.

Hey all, I have noticed that when my car is cold that it is difficult to get 2nd gear, once it starts to warm up (coolant needle comes off the peg) it seems to want to shift just fine. When it is difficult to get 2nd, all other gears feel fine. Can anyone offer any suggestions? Is this a shifter alignment issue or tranny fluid issue or just Porsche?
Stats on the car are 99 996 with 6spd manual, 30k miles on the clock.

My '03 does the same thing and has not changed even after a tranny fluid change at 38k miles. It shifts great after warming up some.

If no one here has personal experience with a shop; you may try to ask your local dealer/dealers who they use. My local dealer was kind enough to share this information with me as a customer service gesture.

I have been hearing a noise which sounded like a bad bearing for the past week or so therefore, I removed the ribbed belt in hopes of finding the source. Upon turning the tensioning roller, I found it to be loose on its axis and making a grinding noise on spinning. All of the other items, ie. alternator, A/C compressor, etc. appear to be fine.Am I correct to assume that the tension roller needs to be changed?
If so, how do I do this? Do I simply turn the 24mm bolt counter-clockwise to remove the mechanism or is there more to it?
How much should I expect to pay for this item at my local dealer? I'd rather have an idea before getting ripped off without fair warning ....

Hi to all as this is my first post. I have been lurking here for some time and have greatly appreciated the wealth of knowledge and variety of experiences shared by all. :renntech:
I recently read a post where someone, I believe Loren, recommended a very expensive 3M conditioner of sorts for weatherstripping. After many attempts searching, I cannot find the thread. Please help.
Also, what are you all using to condition or protect the flat black plastic parts such as the one at the bottom of the windshield. Lastly, any suggestions for a protectant for the gloss black trim around the targa top and rear glass window? Thanks

Check with your homeowners policy agent. My policy would not cover my auto in the event of fire therefore, I must keep the auto policy in force. You may want to run your engine a few minutes after putting the fuel conditioner in so as to get it all the way through the fuel delivery system.
