  1. Hi, 2003, 2.7 Boxster.

    I own my Boxster since 2008. Since then, when trigging the hood openning knob, the hood only rise by 1/4 of an inch. Is that normal? I was thinking that it would rise higher. I did unbolt the lower latch, unsnap alarm/light module and look to the riser spring. It looks to be in place. In the open state, the spring is a little loose but when I put the latch in the close state, the spring is under tension. When releasing it, it rise violently. There are white litium grease in it and no rust. Playing with the rubber height adjustement on both side of the hood doesn't help.

    Before spending $155.00 on a new lower latch, I would like to know if it is probably the problem? Also, any body can confirm how high the hood should rise before releasing it manually with the red manual latch and open it all the way?

  2. Ok, finally got the second part and it works! Noise is finally gone! That one was the broken one. So if you look to the drawing I did post above, the first electric valve I did change was item #6 that goes in the valve housing item #8. It wasn't the problem. So I decide to order the second valve that goes in that valve housing, item #9 that is P/N 996.605.213.01 and that time it was the right one. So your problem is maybe related to item #6 or item #9 or both. I paid $46.13 at Sunset Imports (Jeff).

    Accessing that valve housing is done by 1- Removing passenger front wheel and plastic well. Valve housing will be at top right of the wheel well just behind the front headlight. The housing is bolted up there, so unbolt it.

    The best way to access and remove the valves from the housing is done by going by the front headlight that you have to remove first. Use a flash light and you will see the valve housing that you just unbolt.. Inplug power from the valves (both terminals are different, you can't mix them. There is a plastic sleeve that cover the valves. Use a Torx screw driver to remove it. Pry gently the valve metalllic ring and voilà!

  3. Did some search on the net. By what I found, many Boxster owners have or had that problem. The most precise answer I got, but still not sure at 100% if it was the culprit is a part from the fuel system named Valve housing P/N 996.201.231.01 but as I said, I'm not 100% sure, so maybe some body else can confirm that???

  4. Ok, I found where that backflow goes. it is in the right rubber sleave that att. the throttle body to the right intake plenum. There is a hole there to plug the output of that black/white valve.

    So Loren, I guess, that's the source of my leak! What do you think?

    I'll reset my CEL and see the result.

  5. Ok, did look into the engine section for a leak search and found a white&black round part that have two small hoses going in by a "Y" but the ouput of the part in not plugged. Normal or no? Please look at att. picture.

  6. Hi;

    My car is a 03 Boxster 2.7 (56000 miles)

    I have a Durametric cable.

    Since two months I'm having CEL. The fist time the CEL show up, I had P0171 and P0300 series. P0300 is ok now because I changed all 6 ignition coils that were lightly cracked. This morning, P0171 shows up again and a new one, P0174.

    I'd notice that everytime (3x) CEL shows up, it is when engine is warm and when I'm about to park the car and motor is at iddle. CEL never happen when on the road... At iddle, RPM is very steady, engine Rev fine and very smootly.

    I did check the entire intake piping from the MAF to the throttle body and from throttle body to motor intake. Everything is tight. So I'm out of idea. Any other think to check for or maybe a cure?
