  1. Finally, did found the way to access and remove the blower. Remove the glove box door and the plastic housing (black box). Blower is right behind that box. Remove the fan. Made a try out of the housing, still the flapping noise at low speed. Unplug it and took a look. Bearing at top of the motor looks corroded. Did lube it by spraying a little bit of white grease in the bearing. Turned the fan wheel by hand to help grease to penetrate. Et Voilà! No more noise, fan turn like a new one... YouppI!

  2. Hi;

    My HVAC fan seams to make a strange noise, mainly at startup. A kind of ''Flap Flap Flap''. Maybe there is a leaf or vibration isolation foam part in the fan??? My car is a Boxster 2003, 2.7. When looking by the passenger side under dash (after removing the black foam protection) I can see the drain that plug to the evaporator box, but can't see something that looks like a blower. Is there a DIY rule to find and remove the fan to llok to it? If not, where is that fan?

  3. I cannot help you on your questions but I have to tell you that I have exactly the same problem with my 2003 2.7 Boxster since last year exept my idle that is perfect. No CEL or pending problem codes. On my side I did change my spark plugs thinking it was the problem but it is not. I did clean my MAF that is the new model finishing with 125-01, no change. So before spending more $, I'll be folowing your story to see if you ends up with a solution.

  4. Hi guys;

    This morning I got my first CEL in my entire driver life. My car is a 2003, 2.7 Boxster

    This morning, outdoor temp. was around 32F. Left my house. A minute after, I was in the middle of the morning trafic. Coolant temp. was just moving from cold. Car was at a complete stop at the red light when the CEL flashes for 5 seconds and desapear! I drove back to my house immediatly. I have an OBDII USB cable and have access to one free software that gave me the following BASIC infos:

    Stored diagnostic trouble code: No trouble codes

    Pending Diagnostic trouble codes: P017x (On two lines) & P030x (On 4 lines)

    Those codes are not clear to me but for the P030x series, it looks like it is a misfire related code, but for the P017x series, I don't know??

    So do you think I'm better to go to the nearest car parts an buy a cheap code reader? Also, what is the diference between Stored code and Pending codes?

    Do I have to panic, or I can cool down!

    Tires pressure is ok. My car is in a garage that have a concrete floor. Night & days are now cooler. When I leave home in the morning, it looks like my wheels are more square that round for the first mile or 2. Is this normal? Does that mean my tires are not a good quality one. They were on the car when I did buy it. They are Nexen tires. Anybody else have that bumpy sensation when leaving home in the morning? Any cure to that?

  6. 1- New Beru spark plugs last may (Problem was there before the change)

    2- Throttle body cleaned in May (Was not very durty compare to what I see from others)

    3- New air filter in May

    4- MAF cleaned. The P/N on it is 986-606-125-01

    Cruise story: When cruise control is set (70 MPH) for exemple and I'm climbing a hill, the car have to accelerate to stay around the set speed. I can't feel any cut or hesitation like when I personally hit the gas pedal. Maybe it's because cruise control go smootly on gas to keep set spped? But another detail, when I drive the car, if I want to accelerate, going smooth on the gas pedal, no problem. Probelm happen only when I hit the gas brutally.

    Other observation: Let say I start the car. It is already hot. On neutral, if I hit the gas pedal brutally and release it immediatly I can ear the sound of the hesitation. It is not a constant zooooom from 650 to 3500 RPM. There is a very very thin an short missfire like at the very begining (less that 1 second) and after that the normal zooooom.

    This is where I am...

    Took an OBDII to USB reader plugged in my laptop computer, Using a freeware, I did look to MAF readings. Here they are: At idle, motor hot (183F coolant), reading goes between 2.75 g/s (9.9 kg/h) & 3.0 g/s (10.8 kg/h) and at 2500 RPM, no load, between 9 g/s (32.4 kg/h) & 9.75 g/s (35.1 kg/h).

    Are those readings correct?

    I'm trying to resolve my small hesitation (cut) problem when suddenly hitting the gas pedal to accelerate. No CEL, no code, nothing, only a very thin cut when pressing the gas. Strange, it never happen when using the cruise control???

  8. Hi, Boxster 2003 2.7. I have some hesitations at low RPM when I hit the gas. I did change the spark plugs, the air filter, clean the throttle body (it was in great shape) so my AOS is still ok, I did clean my MAF sensor and still that small hesitation. No CEL at all. So before spending money on a new MAF, I would like to try an injector cleaner. Do you think it can help? If yes, what product are you using?

  9. Other detail I can add, it looks like the hesitation doesn't happen when engine is cold, only when hot... I did order a OBDII cable to plug via USB to my laptop and wait for that to see what temperature MAF see and also be able to erase the fault when i will make a try after disconnected the MAF...

  10. Ok, here is where I am now:

    1) Did clean the throttle body

    2) Did clean the MAS

    3) Put a new air filter

    Result: Still that hesitation at low RPM when accelerating.

    Question: If I unplug the MAS sensor to see if it's the problem, any bodu can confirm is the Check Engine light will come on? I'm asking that because I don't have any thing to reset it.

  11. Did buy the S-Torx. it is a T20 size. Did remove the MAS and clean it with a lot of electric contact cleaner. I will let it dry for a couple of hours.

    Question: Do I have to unplug the battery for 5 minutes to let the car computer read the sensor like we are suppose to do for a new one or not?
