  1. I think the newest navigation update for PCM 3.0 is using the new "model year A" maps. Your system version must be V1.40 or higher. If the system is lower PCM3.0 must be updated using the system software PCM3.0 V1.4 update CD.

The part number for the update is 955 044 905 41

thank you. wow, looked it up in PET - pricey. that is the CD that was sold by Suncoast i think but i missed it and they sell it no furhter.

  2. had the same issue the other day, light is on, connected durametric cable. error: driver side buckle switch or something like that. cleared error, light was gone only to be back 10 min later, repeated process and light is back on again. went to dealer, he looked up my vin (2009MY Cayenne T) and said that software on both car and PCM have to be updated !!! (i have been to 5 different dealers in last 6 months for various reasons and not a single sucker told me that there is an upgrade that has to be done). booked for next Friday, will post results

  3. my logic is simple: Do you have storage for a set of tires ? If yes get good winter and good summer set. You are not loosing any money on tires as one has to change them every 20k or thereabouts anyway (so unless you change your car more frequently than tires you will use more than one set). M&S or all season a still crap in deep snow and will wear off faster in the summer.

my driving is in hot summer and cold/snowy winter

  4. Does anybody with PIWIS knows if there is a setting to enable push button on the trun signal stalk after retrofitting voice control? i have voice control functions on PCM on put new lever with button but pushing it doest activate anything. is there a setting that i have to do through piwis? thanks in advance.

yes, went to the dealer today. the column has to be programmed to enable voice control button.

P.s. on a separate note that function produces some hilarious results

  5. Sorry if it's a bit late but it is my understanding that as oposed to the factory installed universal audio interface, the add on after factory interface will not let you operate your MP 3 via the in-dash radio controls. i.e. you have to use the mp3 controls on your i-pod to select playlists, etc.

    Ed

not correct. all controls will be the same as factory installed (we are talking here about PCM3 units)

  6. there is absolutely nothing in my book about 3k miles service. there is something in the book about changing oil every 10k miles but the way it is written one has to wonder whether it applies only to:

"Cayenne (V6): The multi-purpose display prompts for the oil change service*"

all i can think of is that it said service at 3k miles now +10k miles says service (meaning oil change). If that is the case do I now have to go to the dealer at 13k, 20k, 23k, 40k, 43k ..? that is too much maintanance to put it mildly

just for the record found on another forum that Cayenne 2009 (maybe even earlier ones) will display Service one year from the date that previous Service reminder was cleared or 10k miles whichever is earlier.

P.S. why do i bother answer my own post? maybe someboody esle will have the same question. Judging by number of responces i got for this simple question i am the only one with 2009 car...

  7. We have the 1.4 update for the last 6 months or so. Also have had two replacement PCM modules. Problem of rebooting, which was the orginal complaint still occurs, abet with much less frequency. Seems to relate to the system heat soaking, ie shut off vehicle after a reasonable run for 1/2 hour so. The system then does the reboot thing with some repeativeness. Also happens when the bluetooth connected iPhone experience a weak cell signal. Don't undertand that corrolation.

    Hope this helps.

It sounds you are not chasing this any further but any news on what the problem was as i have the same issue. not sure how to report this to Porsche

I will now correct my statement above, reboot is not related to DVD being played. If fact i cannot find correlation to anything for this reboot. someetimes it happens 3-4 times in the space off 15 min. sometimes it works for hours without problem. no idea. dont even know how to report this problem

  9. I have looked at maintanance checklists in this forum but still dont understand as my car first said Service at about 3000 miles (cannot rememebr now) and now it says service and there is 12k miles on the clock. it is not a problem warning as it started saying service in 1k miles, 0.5k miles etc etc. it also doesnt corresponde to any time intervals (manufactured in July, bought in August 2008). Any thoughts?

nothiing in service boook about what needs to be done.

  10. After a dead battery, the end limit positions must be relearned. Can be done with the switch, I just forget what the actual procedure was. Sorry. Check your owners manual. I'm sure its in there.

That procedure only applicable if roof responds to switches. My roof was absolutely dead. Had to be reset with PIWIS

    What were the fault codes?....

    dealer didnt tell me anything

  11. Did you mount the NAV-tv module in the recess behind the PCM? If so try moving it up / down / one side or the other. If the '09 is similar to the '08, there is a styrofoam duct that feeds the rear seat HVAC behind the PCM unit that can get collapsed, or you may just have the Nav-tv unit in such a particular spot that it is preventing ventilation of the PCM causing an over heating condition. Try moving the module to see is condition is repeatable.

I have now moved Nav-tv to the side. The problem is still there but I have confirmed that it relates to heating as it only happens after heating has been turned on for some time and only in the dircetion of feet (down). So you must be right that it has something to do with that air duct. I checked all connections - all fine. totally at a loss...

wow, havent thought of that. that is a good point. will get back on the results

  14. Backround: Cayenne 2009 PCM3, recently added Nav-tv BT, and installed Voice control stalk (doesnt work even though it is enabled on PCM3 by Nav-tv unit but that is a separate problem). All my additional installations could be irrelevant to the problem but I thought I would mention.

Problem: after about one hour of driving two pieces of info (navigation and music data) begin to disappear and appear on the main display on dashboard. No other data (tire pressure, "main menu" etc) exibits the same problem so I deduct it only relates to data fed from PCM (music info and navi).

I found no correlation to any other activity/outside temperature/music source of this behavior. The only thinking i have is that something heats up in PCM/Connectors and looses contact.

Anybody seem something like this before? What contacts on the back of PCM3 relate this info to dashboard (maybe it is just loose connector)? Thanks
