  1. I have a 2008 cayenne on which i installed a new GPS Device (BLack Box) that is hooked to the Tuner in the back.

I managed to get it activited on AV channel. the reason i did this because in Jordan we don't have the service to work directly on the built in INav PCM system already available.

Here's the situation; you know how the display disapears once the car moves! I was told that there is a code that unlocks the PCM and allows the screen to display without interrruption.

no code as far as i know but there are plenty of third party devices for about $200 on ebay that do that. just type pcm into ebay search box ebay.de seems to have the most

  2. I suspect you have air in the hydraulic lines from the clutch master cylinder to the slave cylinder. I had same problem on my daughters 944S. Eventually replaced the flexible line and both cylinders.

do you have any slip as well? i had a cracke pressure plate which resulted in pedal not coming back smothly or at all but that would only be the case if you clutch started slipping as well and the problem developed instantly and not over time.

  3. Thanks Loren, SA321

My question as well. I have blutooth connection (it connects to my phone ok with secure passcode etc...) but cannot get PCM to work as a phone. The message on the PCM screen is something like "Telephone module not installed"... All I want to do is use my 3G phone through blutooth.

    Any ideas?

    Apologies for the late reply.

    Thanks

    Jungwook.

send me your vin via PM and i ll look up what options you have installed. sounds like you have no bluetooth
  4. i am getting new durametric which allows for break bleed but there is no explanation anywhere on how to do it. where can i look it up? tks

Here is what they say for the Porsche tools (PST and PIWIS) so I suspect the Durametric emulates them.

"Open the rear right bleeder valve (use collecting bottle).

Press the Start button on the System Tester. This initiates certain functions in the hydraulic control unit (return pump, switch-off and switch-over valves are actuated).

Bleed until clear, bubble-free brake fluid emerges. In addition (throughout bleeding operation) fully depress (pump) brake pedal as far as the stop at least ten times.

Caution: In vehicles with high mileage or in old vehicles, double the pumping cycles and use only half the brake master cylinder stroke (damage to the brake master cylinder could result / primary boot damage).

Close the right rear bleeder valve. Then immediately press Stop button on the System Tester."

any specific bleed valve to open before i start this?

  5. telephone and bluetoth are two different things. for bluetooth you need no parts if you already have mic in the car. (look at TSB on this website) you only need the code for which porsche charges you. solution is to get navtv pcm3bt (that is waht i got and so far seems to be the only product in the market). for telephone you need code and other parts but i never understood why have phone when you have bluetooth

  6. As I understand, one needs a "XZN" or "triple square" socket wrench to remove the Cayenne steering wheel bolt - does anyone know what size? I don't have these wrenches in my collection, and am only planning to purchase the one specific wrench for this project.

    Please help!

BTW - here are the steps, in case anyone else is looking to do the same:

    Step 1 - Disconnect Battery

Leave your key in the ignition after turning the car off. Access the battery under the driver seat and un-seat the ground cable(instructions in the manual). Wait at least a minute after power's off, according to the tech. manual, to be safe to unhook the air bag.

Step 2 - Removing Airbag module.

In the back of the existing steering wheel there are access ports or holes near the base of each horizontal

spoke. You can feel it on the back of the wheel hub if you turn the steering wheel 90 degrees so the spoke points up. Insert a short thin flat screwdriver into the port on the back almost at a 45 degree angle down. Engage wire clip and lever it down very firmly to disengage; rotate wheel and repeat behind other spoke. you'll feel the air bag(top) release when you catch the clip right. Tug gently but firmly on the top edge of the AB unit until it rotates part way out. Disconnect wire harness and it's off.

Step 3 - Removing the Wheel

You need a "XZN" or "triple square" socket wrench to remove the wheel bolt. These look like the Torx wrench but with more tines(12). Remove center bolt, take off old wheel, put on new & replace bolt. The airbag then is replugged to the wire harness, lined up and reattached at the bottom first then rotated toward the top. It takes some effort to re- engage the clips at the top of the airbag...you intermittently push on the airbag with the left then right hand and test for attachment by tugging on the top edge. Power up and you're done!!

what size is the triple square socket? tks

  7. I have imported a 996tt from USA to europe and i have a problem with my PCM.

How do i get the PCM radio to search for radio stations with 100khz diffrence(Example: 100.0mhz 100.1mhz 100.2mhz etc..)???

    It searches with 200khz diffrence now(Example: 100.1mhz 100.3mhz etc...).

Do i have to reprogram it or buy a new one?

go to dealer, they will switch it with PIWIS, may as well ask them to switch side lights to turn signals (though i am not sure if it was implemented on 996 or only on 997 onwards so you may have to re-wire; you will need that to comply with european regulations)

Thank you for the reply! :)

I have been to the dealer and they have tried to switch it with the PIWIS. But it didn´t work, there was a configuration option for the frequency band that they changed from US to European, but it still didn´t work. Have they maybe done it the wrong way(it was the dealers first time doing this kind of operation) or does this operation not work on my PCM beacause it´s a specific US model???

part catalog shows only one part world-wide. so should be something at the dealer.

  9. Try using a Microfibre cloth.

I keep one in a protective satchel in the centre console compartment for such occasions.

I have found them to be the best. ;)

hm, i only tried to get rid of ipod scratches with silver polish paste 9took a while but worked), this is not glossy but matt so most likely you are stuck. unless you figure out other way I would try to find one of those protective plastic stickers (ipod, laptops etc) and try sticking one over - may make it better. alternative - buy new screen on e-bay. any computer repair shop should be able to swap them

  10. Anybody have any wiring diagrams for 08/09 cayenne as i am trying to fit a pcm3 unit into my cayenne. The unit has powered up everything seems to work but there is no sound as yet i have not installed a bose amp.Would it be possible to use a non bose amp?

    :welcome:

You don't need a wiring diagram - Porsche produced a TSB with the complete installation procedure.

TSBs are available here to view by our Contributing Members.

i have looked for tsb for installing pcm3 into caayenne but could not find it. which number is it?

  11. Hi Folks,

A question on PCM3.0. I have an 997.2 that has Navi option, however, its with UK Maps. How can I get ASIAN Maps since I live here . I guess I dont need "codes" as the car is enabled with Navi, just no local maps.

    Many Thanks

go to dealer, ask to change region, they will request from porsche germany (harman) disk to reinstall soft on your hard drive. no other way found. even if you buy map disk for your region it will not load up, i tried it.
