  1. I just purchased my kit from Durametric and checked out my 2007 987S. Under the Motronic vehicle data it shows that the number of ignitions are as follows:

Number of ignitions range 1= 1/198h

Number of ignitions range 2= 1/198h

Number of ignitions range 3= 1/198h

Number of ignitions range 4= 1/198h

Number of ignitions range 5= 1/198h

Number of ignitions range 6= 0/0h

    Operating hour counter = 287

    1) Does this mean that my car was driven at high RPM ranges at 198 hrs? I purchased this car new and have never gone over ~ 6200 rpm. I did have the car in a body shop for a few weeks during Jan 2008 because I was rear ended.

    2) Does the 1/198h mean that someone drove my car at excessive rpm one time or one ignition spark? Is that possible?

    3) If so, is there a way to approximate that date? or am I worrying about nothing? or is my warranty toast? Thanks

  2. I have had an X50 Blue LED radar detector for a few years now and it has always worked well. Since getting a 987S 2007, I decided to try a new mounting location. I purchased a cell phone mount with a large suction cup and placed it onto the back windscreen insert (plastic) located between my seats such that the detectors rear is almost touching the insert. I also programed the detector such that it is completely dark so no one can see the blue LEDs in the rear. I don't need to see the detector because each mode emits a different sound.

So my question is do you think that I will lose sensitivity of radar detection from the front of the vehicle since it's not mounted directly on the front windshield? I did take a test drive and it seemed to pick up the grocery stores door openers fairly well.

    Thanks

    Will post pictures later.

  3. My bad experience was in a different vehicle when battery acid sprayed all over the engine coimpartment. Being I already have a 34R I've been thinking about this? I may just leave the original one in for now.

    Hi,

I have a new 987S and was thinking about replacing the batter with a Optima 34R. I already have the battery (~ 2 yrs old from a 350Z). Although my Porsche battery is still new, I had a bad experience a few yrs back with tyoical batteries, so I'm just trying to be careful. Anyone have any experience with this type swop on a 987?

    Thanks

I put an Optima 34R in my 2001 Boxster when I needed a new battery and it works great. When it's time to replace the battery on our 997, after it's out of warranty, I'll probably go for an Optima as well.

Why would you want to replace a battery on a car still under warranty? If you have a "bad experience" with your Porsche battery when it's still under warranty, like it dies, why wouldn't you let the dealer pay for a new one?
