When I fitted my hardtop and the rear parcel shelf I left mine in. However, to get the wind deflector out you need to unclip the black clips at the top on the deflector. Search on 'wind deflector' and you should get some instructions/photos on here, sure I've seen them

push the windstop down (for sure) and forward (i think, maybe back though) while gently pushing the clips towards the middle.

well, the silicone was $5 and the repair took 30 seconds. for just a hole, this was definitely the way to go.

update: some heavy rains last night, no more water in the cabin!

have had the car for almost a month now, and during the last 2 rains noticed a very soggy driver's side carpet. checked the drains (front 3 were all clogged, rears seemed clear), but still no fix. reading about a leak through the door panel here, but the car was parked on a hill (nose down, driver's side down) which made the door an unlikely culprit. finally put the top in service mode (so _that's_ where the engine is!) and noticed a quarter sized hole punched in the foam liner surrounding the rear driver's drain. the insulation was wet underneath. i put a big gob of silicone on it, which should stop the leak. anyway, just thought i'd share another source of leaking. btw, i couldn't fit my compressor nozzle into the rear drains to clear them; i ended up using some speaker wire, which was pliable enough not to rip the drain--i was nervous using my normally trusty go-to tool, the wire coat hanger.

It also doesn't help if your car is parked on a slant during heavy rain - I have found (here in Glasgow - where it rains like hell!) that a slanted car can overwhelms one of the drain points under the clamshell even if it has no blockage - leading to the carpet getting slightly damp. Overall answer - garage your car else things are going to get wet in torrential downpours!

interesting. my car (that i just got) got it's driver's side wet during a recent storm. it was parked at an angle on a hill (driver's side down, nose down). both front drains were blocked, but the rears were clear. we'll see what happens next storm.

if you're running in recirculation mode you'll tend to have more condensation.

loving the '02 s so far, but the alarm is driving me nuts (especially when i can't find my car). any way to make it beep when it's locked or unlocked?

huh. how annoying. i also have this prob, thought the gauges were just washed out in the sunlight. luckily, it's not quite 90' out of phase, so i can still see the display, it's just dark. maui jim browns also.

Try using brown/amber sunglass lenses. That helped in my car.

Doesn't help me. Mine are Maui Jim browns. And like Kendo, only a problem with center gauge.

According to the Bentley manual, the antenna is amplified. BN/BU wire would be the alarm contact (per below).

I just sent you a PM as I have a full scanned copy of the radio schematic for an '01 which will help you. Not sure I can post it here directly since it's not my material. ;)

aha! i knew there was an antenna amp in there somewhere--i bet it's not powered correctly in my car. as for the schematic, i've already ordered a bentley, but it's on backorder for a month--this is just an advance ;)

do you have the original radio? or do you have the yellow wiring harness plugs (ISO connectors) that plug into the back of the original radio?

do you have the manual for the Sony head unit? if not, you can probably download one from the Sony site. then you can look at the back of the radio and figure out which wires are connected to what. while you're in there, i would label all the wires with duct tape (write what they are on the tape - power, ground, etc.), it will make things easy in the future.

is the blue/brown wire a single wire, or is it multiple wires taped together with a 4-slot plug on the end?

chris, i have the sony manual, but i want to see if it's wired correctly, and for that i need the porsche wiring diagram. your idea doesn' t work if the p.o. wired the unit wrong. as i said, the reception is terrible; i suspect that the porsche antenna needs to be powered, but i don't know which wire it is. the head unit also doesn't dim like it should when the lights are on. again, i need to know if there's a porsche input that could go into the head unit. the blue/brown wire is a single wire with a female spade connector on the end.

sorry, i thought i had a sig enabled with the car model. 2002 Boxster S. Only options are sport touring package and bose premium sound and arctic silver paint. the head unit is a sony cdx-r5515x. thanks for the help.

just drove the new s home from south carolina a few nights ago. i have the bose "premium" sound package and a sony aftermarket head unit with xm changer built in. a couple of questions while waiting for delivery of my bentley:

1. the "bus in" input of the unit is occupied--does anyone know if this is for an xm control box of some sort? i'd like to plug my mp3 player into that slot...

2. i got no AM reception, and fairly crappy FM reception. prior experience has told me that this is from a blown/not powered antenna amp. does this car have an amp?

3. there's a lonely, unconnected blue/brown wire from the car--anyone know what this is? illumination control, antenna amp power lead maybe?

basically, if anyone has a wiring diagram that they'd be willing to scan, that would help me out immensely.
