  1. Other than at time of purchase is there a way of seeing if my wheels are at least 8" wide in the front? In my signature below is my garage too if that helps...
  2. I will be installing the ROW M030 supsension on my 99- C2 coupe mostlikely next weekend. I plan on getting new tires and a alignment too, but can't decide which size I should run on the back... (I have 18" stock rims) 1. Which would you choose and why? 2. Do you have any suggestions on alignment specs as well? Paul
  3. Thanks for the info Dell... I'l call Suncoast and bust their chops a little Paul
  4. There is a group buy we got going on for a ROW M030 on 6speedonline... If you are interested in suspensions you should check it out? http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/showthr...&threadid=28739 Paul
  5. X74 from what I have read on the PCA site is too rough/low for most city driving and is best on the track... See links below: http://www.pca.org/tech/tech_qa_question.a...C-36317763E1F7} http://www.pca.org/tech/tech_qa_question.a...5-52B644E1E9F4} http://www.pca.org/tech/tech_qa_question.a...0-588B1A0A497F}
  6. If you are interested in a good deal, one of my friend's over on 6speedonline.com and I have put together these prices... http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/showthr...&threadid=28739 Paul
  7. Thanks gentlemen! As always you have been very informative.... ROW M030 it is! I just can't fathom spending that much for the Pss9's on a car with 78k miles. Especially considering that I will probably upgrade to a new 911 with in a year or so... Paul
  8. Just about when I had my mind made up and was ready to break out the money and get the ROW M030. . . Gert @ Carnewal said that I should look into the X74 suspension as it will fit on my 99' as well? What is your experience with these two in comparison? Paul
  9. :drive: Do they sell a 5 or 6 point safety harness set up to help keep me from sliding around in my seat (during an auto X) without having to change out my stock seats or add a big roll bar in back? I saw a cool set-up one time on a 993. It was a single bar that stretched across the pilars just behind the seats and was used for seat belt mounting, and to mount a camera in between the two seats as well. It was atached to the exixting seat belt mounting bolt adn looked easy to remove and install as needed Paul
  10. Thanks Dell, that sounds just perfect to me... Excuse my ignorance, but can you snap a photo of the cross bars or are they nicely hidden? I'm not sure where they mount them? on top of the shocks or underneath... Paul
  11. I'm thinking of getting the ROW MO30 For my 99' tiptronic coupe (18" rims). My car has 77k miles and is a daily driver. I want to Auto X it once a quarter jsut to keep my skills up. But most of the time I will do 1/2 day spirited fun runs with our local PCA every couple of months. I am not sure I want to drop all that cash for a PSS-9 set-up as I may just buy a newer Carrerra in a year or two. Suncoast has the ROW MO3O for $999 out the door, including tax and s/h. 1. Can anyone give me some experience or feed back in comparisson to the stock USA set-up? 2. Can some one post a picture of the mouting of the front and back sway bars?
  12. I might be able to swing by for a bit... Just let me know when and where. Paul
  13. Just touching in guys... Brakes are working great! They felt about normal after approximately 75 miles of regular driving and by 125 miles they ere gripping fantastically... Next is tires and Suspension! The only bummer news is I must have spilled a little brake fluid on the caliper as it has eaten away my clear coat and sticker. Note to self next time, wrap a small rag around the base of the bleeder screw to eliminate this. Then promptly clean with water afterwards.
  14. My daily driver, 1999 996 C2 coupe tiptronic, with 73k miles... Is there an extended warranty available and if so what has been your experience with them? Pro's vs. Cons? Paul
  15. I know there are a big group of DIY'rs up in the bay area (Loren, Tool Pants etc...) and that they hold regular get togethers and work on cars. Anyone out there interested in doing this in San Diego??? (I am interested in "learning how to do my own brakes" anyone here in sunny San Diego interested in hanging out on a saturday and teaching me first hand?) http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?act=diy&code=diy_bp http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?act=diy&code=diy_bf Paul
  16. I'll [e]mail him and check it out... Thanks Paul
  17. My friend Dave backed his wide body 993 Carrera -S into a pole and broke his driver's side "euro" tail light. :drive: Can reccomend a place where he can get a hold of one? From what I understand they are kinda hard to find??? :( Paul
  18. What is the average life for a factory set up of struts/springs etc..? Also "when they go..." what characteristically will I feel when cornering? :drive: Absent visible leakage, can one tell too by visual inspection or palpation? Paul (1999' C2 Coupe w/ 18" wheels with 73k miles)
  19. Eric is da man! As far as I am concerned he is the paint god... I would recommend him any day... I also participate on other forums and he is highly regarded there as well... Just my .02 cents Paul
  20. Well I spoke with Shaun at Pioneer and supposedly Moe my Tech there was able to save the day! Turns out it was only a valve spring, and he fixed it with out having to take the entire motor out or replace any valves/stems. They did a compression test & a leak down test and it is looking good! They just have to put the finishing touches and get it put back together tomorrow. It will be ready late tomorow night or first thing Monday. . . Paul
  21. Ok they pulled half of it apart and I could see the springs exposed. The bottom left one of # 4 was broken. Upon further investigation it appeared that the valve stem with it's washer looking retainer for the spring was either bent or loose, as it was angled ever so slightly downwards. When the tech put his hand in there and manipulated the stem in-n-out manually we could see that the valve wasn't seating / closing correctly upon shining a flash light up and into the motor. His recomendations: 1. Replace all the springs and washer retainer looking pieces on right side for #'s 4-6. 2. Do a "valve job" and that's it... Any thoughts? or suggestions?
  22. I have spoke witha very knowledgable guy (from 6speedonline.com) who used to be a Porsche Dealer mechanic for 3 years and now has his own performance shop... His recomendations were to have them pull it all apart and first see if it is a bent valve and if there are any marks on the pistons. (if it is bent, then there are some big decisions I will have to make... I will then have to weigh the costs vs. a re-furbished motor If not, then replace all the springs #1-6 and thus paying a little more for preventative measures. He said that parts are only $100-200, and to see if Porsche will work with me on some of the labor to bring down the $3000 estimated price as a good will gesture. Feedback? Thoughts? anyone???
