  1. I had Pioneer Porsche in San Diego do mine... After looking around for wiring instructions I finally got fed up and just let them do it. At first I too wanted the stock lever (mostly for the look). Then when I was told the cost I opted for one button. By doing it with one button you lose the speed gong functionality... I had them wire it for 2 buttons but have yet to install the second.

Funny thing though, the installer (Moe) had a real diffacult time getting the button to light up when the head lights are turned on. . . So if and when I take it back, he wants to fiddle with it a little more. He said that it was the strangest thing that he ever saw...

  2. Mine is doing the same but it is coming from more up front...I particularly notice it when I go over a speed bump or enter a driveway at an angle. It is more of a creaking noise and the guys here at Pioneer Porsche in SD said that there are two metal bars or braces behind the dash that have a tendency to rub...

Their solution is to give it to them for 1/2 a day and they will pull the dash apart & put a piece of felt between them... Apparently it is a comon problem and while not hard to fix technically, it is fairly labor intensive.

  3. Ok I went to a local Auto X and was searching for opinions on tires... First off I live in Sunny San Diego where it is never less than 72 degrees and rains about 1" a year... B)

Knowing this, multiple reputable 996drivers and three open wheel cart professionals recommend for my car the Kumho MX.

Ok so now you need to know: I have 18" factory chrome rims on a C2 with stock suspension (USA)... My car is for the most part a daily driver, but on the weekends I love to participate in local PCA club rides and few of us let loose so to speak.

So my question to you is:

For almost double the price and the Porsche "N" rating should I still go with the Pilot Sports or am I wasting my money...?

  4. I was at the PCA Performance Driving School this weekend and alot of us were interested in the clear bra type shielding, especially for Auto X. :drive:

After carefully inspecting a few of them, I found that it looks great when only on the front bumper and headlights. I do not like how certain manufacturers will also do half of the hood and half of the side fenders as well. This looks very cheap and you can see a distinct line running horitontally accross your hood.

IMHO-I urge you to either do the front bumper & head lights only ... or cover everything (Bumper, both lights, entire hood, & the entire side fenders.) On a side note if you plan on any Auto X. and have a wide body or "S" model you may want to consider the rear fenders that are flared out as well

    "Just my .02 cents..."

  5. The best price so far is $130 from Brandywine Porsche and my buddies at Pioneer Porsche here in SD may put it in for free... I just have to bring them lunch one day . . . What are your thoughts?

The problem with that approach is that the handles may not match exactly. We’re in the perfection business. The only way you could expect perfection is to have both painted at one time.

But in reality, and replacement should only take about 30 minutes to complete. Painting these parts is difficult due to the curves and angles, and there are often runs in the finish that require major sanding and repainting. The labor would be quite high.

Did you speak with a dealer about it yet?

1999 Carrera (2) Artic Silver, It looks smooth to me but I'm no expert...

What price range are we looking at?

As to avoid going to the dealer twice and to pull & install the newly painted handle, and to avoid not being able to drive the car for a week can you ship the newly painted one out first and I'll ship you back mine later like we did with the cores of my bumperette's?

  6. I hate to be anal retentive but... the prior owner of my 996 must have worn one of those big *** dive watches or something on his wrist... Cuz, the driver's side door pull is all scratched up. :(

You know... the aluminium looking tear dropped handle used to open / unlock the door ...?

I tried calling a few places for a replacement but had no luck. Thus I need your help. Got any suggestions on finding a replacement or maybe the cost to re-paint?

    :help:

    PS

    So far I tried :

Pelican Parts, Brandywine, Parts Heaven, Ebay, Pioneer Porsche. . .

  7. How much is it going to cost me to change the color of my carpet in my 99' coupe, including the door carpet as well?

    Paul

I have the boxster red and it is fading (especially on the doors)... I want to go black carpet with boxster red leather interior... Then add some floor mats to match witht he porsche crest and I am in business!!! B)
