  1. Yes, disconnect the negative side (driver's side) of the battery, wait a couple minutes. Some say 10 minutes, then insert key to move steering wheel so that the screw is somewhere bewteen 4:00 and 6:00 o'clock. Sunset's contact information is on the top of the main menu on this site under "Special Offers". I paid $65.00 or so last August. Ask for Bob or Phil.

  2. The srews that remove the airbag are on the back side of the steering wheel. They are tough to inially loosen. Below is a photo from ToolPants that shows how to get the needed leverage. The tool or driver has a 30mm torx head, I use the one on the far left except I use a pair of vice grips to grab the handle tightly. Since your coming from the back you loosen by turning the driver clockwise.

I've replaced a few faulty horn bushings and the best bet is a total replacement or new bracket with factory installed bushings from the good folks at Sunset Porsche.

  3. The front trunk light goes off in about two hours or so. Below is a copy of the manual regarding the electrical system and battery maintenance. I agree with Loren however, that in two hours the light gets extremely hot. I sometimes pull the light out of the prongs especially if the keys are left in the ignition. The switch looks like a great idea.

  4. Some common causes include the oil filler tube, the AOS, or even a spark plug tube. Try to isolate each of these and see what you find. If there is enough oil to prevent you from determining where it is coming from, it might be easier to clean the oil up real well and check on it periodically.

  5. There is no difference between MY2000 and MY2000 S. D1 (30A) is the correct fuse. Have the switches been removed and reinstalled with the white and black harnesses reversed? White goes on driver's side. Any other electrical gremlins? A failing or faulty ignition switch can cause some unexplainable problems. You can try jiggling the key. My headlights would intermittently fail when my ignition switch was failing.

  6. Similar flaps on the 986 Boxster, very inexpensive to replace. Three screws and they drop right off. Easier if you drive up on a ramp or a couple of 2 x 6's to get a screw driver to them, otherwise you'll need a very short screwdriver.

  7. If you have over 100K and haven't replaced the AOS then the chances are high that yours is failing. If the oil cap is difficult to remove while the engine is running then, that is systom as well. Here is a link to a simple way to test.

Also you can read Mike Foucke's site here too.

Pedro's Garage is also a good source.

Good luck and keep us posted.
