I am telling you call Rick Reus. They replaced my system, used the factory speaker wires and left the MOST wires intact. The system is reversible and I keep and move the system he put in to the next car. It sounds unreal and is invisible, except the head unit. It is only a phone call and at least you will know what can be done.

Had this happen to my 03 cab and it eventually broke and was replaced by the dealer. Then I went out and replaced the whole system anyway.

I redid my whole system in my 03 cab. You need to do some research if you want great sound because you have almost no space in a cab for subs(unless you give up the rear seats). I went with a system from www.reusaudio.com. Rick knows his stuff and he has done 1000s of them. I live in Jersey so I guess you can't hear mine, but if you call Rick he may have done one close to your home. E mail me if you want and we can talk.

No highs no lows.....it must be bose. Bose is the #1 selling speaker in the world. It is not about quality but is about MARKETING. I replaced my entire system. That being said, the bose upgrade is much better than the non-upgrade unit.

Yesterday I spent the time to put in a new shifter and e brake handle. I did it myself with the directions I got here. The directions were great, but it ended up taking two and a half hours instead of one and a half. I got the whole thing apart and together in 90 minutes or so but the the brake was rubbing on the plastic. So I tried to figue out a way to fix it without taking the whole thing apart again :oops: . I couldn't so I ended up taking it apart again and filing the plastic. So it took me longer, but it looks great in the end.

I could take a pic of the head unit, but that doesn't do you any good. I have an 03 cab. He replaced al the speakers in the stock spots and also added in the rear view mirror. There is a sub in the right foot well just like the bose and a sub in the spare, yes in the spare. The spare is still usable. The amps are hidden in front of the spare. That is the beauty of the system, totally stealth...sounds kick ***.

Go on his site and call Rick. He has 3 systems at different levels. He has done 1000s of these and knows his stuff.

I was told by my dealer that spray silicon should be used.

I had one also, but returned it. I did not like the way it hung and I still needed help to put it on. I built a holder for it that fits uder the spot where my car is. I then get my wife or someone to help 2 times a year. One on and one off.

One word.....www.reusaudio.com Just redid my whole system and you cannot belive the sound. 3 amps, all new speakers that are built for Reus and an eclipse head.

Thanks guys, I may have to go the Kirby route if I can't find switched power in the dome light. I did see these. I did not want to go the kirby route since I already have a nav wire in there, but I guess I could go down the passenger side.

How much and who does the install? Do you need an alignment afterwards?

Is there switched power in the overhead/light console of my 03 996 cab, so I can direct wire my detector there? If so where is it? Upon operating the lights they all seem to work without the key in or unswitched. Or would you suggest I run it down the a pillar as others have done? It seems easier to run to the light console if there is switched power in there.

Very nice write up. Yea, those results do suck. This is a hottly debated topic. I have thought on many occasions to do an exhaust and intake change on my 03 996, but a lot of people say zero gains. If you do it for the sound change, fine. If for performance, forget it. Sad don't you think. Look at the review of the new boxter in Excellence Mag. They get good (20 to 25hp) out of increasing the throttle body and remapping the ecu. I wish this could be done in the aftermarket.

I have the contis also. I have 14500 miles and they still look pretty good. I figure they are good for another 5 to 10 thousand. I would be very surprised if they lasted to 30.

So, UMN your advise would be no higher than 4500 rpms, but vary the revs. And, assuming I am at operating temperature, I can push it hard and vary the revs? I should do this for the first 2000 miles?

So a reman engine is not broken in?

I recently had my engine in my 03 996 replaced by Porsche. How do I break in the engine? Some say follow the new car break in instructions in the manual. The service manager at the dealer said drive it normally with no red line. Some say drive it hard, some say do an oil change at 400 miles to remove metal particles. Any opinions here? Thanks,
