  1. I just installed Smart Top and Remote Top in my 99 996 Cab. Both units seems to work well, except for one thing.

When I want to just unlock the car when the alarm is on, the remotetop is opening the top. I just press the remote for less than a second. The top opened in 2 out of 3 times.

I think if I needed to use the remote to open the top, that I would need to hold the remote for a second or two. That does work also.

The only thing that I think that could cause this, is that I needed to change the battery in the car last week. I am not sure if that had something to do with this. I only installed the smarttop and remotetop for about 2 weeks now, so I do not have a lot of experience in using it.

Also, my front windows roll up after the top opens, is this normal too?

  2. I could not resist posting. Forgive for bringing back an older thread.

Just picked up a 48 Kirkland battery from CostCo in NJ. It was an amazing $49.99!! It is maintenance free and comes with a 3 year warranty. It is like getting a free membership to CostCo.

I think we can all use a new Tool Pants picture.

  3. Do you know if the battery terminal wires (from the car) were cleaned too? Even if the battery is new, if there is corrosion on the wire connectors, it make a bad connection. Charging system are relatively simple, so if it is not the battery, the connectors, then it is mostly likely the alternator. How is the tension on the belt? Sometimes a loose belt can cause this, but I think it is an auto tensioner.

  4. Did you do a Carfax? The reason I ask is that there are a good amount of flood damaged cars that will have recurring electrical problems. It seems that all of the problems you have are electrical. Some of these cars are cleaned up (dried out) and then re-sold. Just a thought.

    Hi folks,

we bought an '04 CS two weeks ago, 45k miles, Porsche certified, with the 2 year, 100k warranty. two days after we got it, check engine light came on, several entry/drive items were not working right, and we had the "check headlight alignment" message. took back to the dealer for 3 days and they replaced a couple of modules and sensors.

had it back two days, and the Bose system stopped working-no sound from any input. a couple of engine cycles later, and we had sound back, out of the blue.

We purchased an '02 Boxster S in 2006, also certiied, and it has been rock solid. not a hint of a hiccup.

I guess I am really feeling bit a little, wondering if I'm going to have nagging electrical problems forever......anyone else expereienced this? just wondering if I'm expecting too much for the Cayenne to be bug free, as it is the most over-engineered, technology-laden vehicle I have ever seen..

love driving the vehicle. we drove every lux. SUV, and nothing came close to the Cayenne experience........

    thanks for your input.

  5. I saw a place in Newark NJ that does tops with GLASS for under $1000. I do not have the magazine, either the PCA monthly mag or the Christoferous mag. But I know it is in Newark, because I a located in NY and it caught my interest.

    EDIT

I found the place. It is called CabrioWorld. They advertised in the Dec 2007 Panorama. They are located in Newark NJ, and the number is 800-752-1563. In the ad they have tops for a Boxster for 775 with the glass.

    Good Luck!
