  1. The Air Suspension Warning was popping up on my multi-purpose display after 2 mins of driving, and staying lit. So I purchased the compressor repair kit off ebay. After the install, it lowered properly, I did not drive it.  The next morning the air suspension warning flashed on the screen during startup and the "General warning !" is now displayed. So, prior to me changing out the gasket and O ring the warning was displayed on the Multi-purpose display, now I have the warning! the compressor runs but will not raise the vehicle. I was able to replace the O ring and gasket without removing it. Vehicle is an 04 CS. What do you think?

  2. The ignition switch itself will have a little play in it, but the trim ring should stay on.

When the trim ring is off, there is an outer bezel on the ignition cylinder (it's plastic) that you have to unscrew in order to push the cylinder back out of the dash. It's possible that is loose if you have a lot of movement in your ignition cylinder. It has a few cutouts on it that you can place a screw driver on and tap it tighter. That might tighten things up for you.

Wrinkledpants- Thanks! that was it. I just tightened that bezel with a small screwdriver and the trim piece appears to be staying on so far. All is good!

  3. Today on the commute home, in slow moving bumper to bumper traffic the temp needle started to move to the other side of the line. It happened rather quickly, maybe after about 5 mins, and I got off after 15 mins total and it went back to normal. I don't think the car should be heating up that fast! I mean it didn't overheat, but the needle did start to move after only a short time in traffic. I would hate to be stuck in traffic for an extended period. Thoughts?

  4. I had the same problem, the front passenger seat carpet on MY04 was soaking wet. Apparently there are a number of drains and they could become clogged with leaves and debris etc.... There is also an AC drain hose that runs in the front passenger seat area under the glove box that has been known to get clogged. The drain that was clogged on mine was behind the front passenger tire, had to remove tire and the wheel well liner and you should see the drain, I believe there are 2 drains there IIRC. Just stick your finger in there and and pull the clog out.

  5. lower passenger side front is where the water pump is .... get up on ramps or jack stands and pull panel. could also be a leaky hose or connection.... although unlikey that side .. maybe even a pressure crack in resovoir.

find it and fix it .... cheaper now than later.... don't wait for overheat light.

Thanks, yes I need to get it up on stands. I was thinking that maybe the fluid was leaking from the passenger side and then finding its way to the drivers side on the panel. Will I be able to tell by looking at the waterpump that it went bad?

    Thanks Jim

  6. About a half hour after parking MY99 Boxster 2.5, 5 speed, 40,000 miles on the clock, in the garage after a ride today, I noticed a fluid on the ground on the drivers side of the car. it looked clear, like water. With a flashlight I looked under the car and could see that it was dripping from the plastic underbody panels about in the middle of the car, maybe closer to the drivers side. With the flashlight shining on the drip it was green in color. I looked under the carpet in the rear trunk and there is no sign of any leakage from the cap or the expansion reservoir. A couple of months ago my coolant light was flashing and I topped off the reservoir with distilled water, did not take too much, maybe 4ozs. I have not been driving the car a lot because of the weather. The car ran fine today, normal temp and no coolant light flashing. Did not get the car up on stands yet, hopefully this week some time. What should I look for and how can I tell if it is the water pump? Thanks Jim

  7. I have to replace the front cross member on my base 99 Boxster. I ran over a rock and it broke off the bracket for the strut. I don't know where to begin, are there any step by step instructions somewhere? I have installed lowering springs on the car following a good DIY guide that I found online I am hoping that it won't be neccesary to have to remove rotors and shocks. I am not having any luck locating any reference material on line though for my current dilemna. Thanks Jim
