  1. My Turbo S was serviced last week at my local dealer for this issue. According to the dealer, there are no faults in my system.  There are no TSBs, as mentioned above. The behavior my car exhibits is normal. The dealer said that this is not an uncommon concern. PDK is technically an automated manual transmission, as opposed to an automatic transmission with a torque converter. As a result, there will always be a little bit of slip as the clutches engage from a dead stop. He did say that the transmission learns and adapts to the driving style of the driver, so maybe I've babied the car a little too much. I may try starting quickly for a few weeks and see if anything changes.

  2. I've begun to notice that my PDK appears to slip or hesitate sometimes, most notably when I accelerate from a standstill. The engine revs, but it takes a second to engage and get moving. Has anyone else experienced this?  Is there a TSB, or perhaps a software update for PDK that could help with this issue?  The car is a 2014 TTS.

  3. My recently acquired 2014 Turbo S Cabriolet appears to have a misaligned exhaust tip on the driver's side.  I'm not sure how it happened; it doesn't appear to be damaged in any way, it's just canted a bit too much towards the outside.  My question for the group is:. How is the tip adjusted?  In the past, I've simply loosened the clamp that attaches the tip and then moved the tip into the correct position.  I looked under the car and it looks a little bit more involved for the 991.  Is it the same as my 997 was in terms of adjustment?  If so, does anyone know the bolt size?

    Thanks!

  4. I replaced my OE exhaust tips when I bought my 997.1 TT and I've decided to go back to the OE tips.  Is there a guide for proper placement?  I want to make sure that they are aligned properly and they they extend the proper distance from the opening in the bumper cover.

    Any help would be appreciated.

  5. Hello everyone. My cruise control is not working on my 997 TT and I'm hoping it's something simple. The car is under warranty and I'll take it to my dealer if necessary, but I want to make sure I'm not missing an easy repair before I do that.

The green light in the instrument cluster will not illuminate when I attempt to active cruise control. I do have Depo LED tail lights installed, and they work perfectly without any error messages. I've read about LED tail lights causing problems with cruise control so I reinstalled my factory tail lights to see if that would change things. It didn't.

I've checked the fuse box and there isn't a fuse specifically dedicated to cruise control. One obvious candidate to me was the fuse for the brake light switch (fuse C4), but that fuse was fine. I also checked fuse B3 based on a search on these forums, and it was also fine.

I would greatly appreciate any suggestions.

  6. I ended up replacing the entire system in my 996 C4S, including the head unit, amps and speakers.  I went with a Kenwood unit that allows for Sirius/XM, Bluetooth with voice activated dialing, iPod/iPhone connectivity, Pandora compatibility, etc.  It was expensive, but it was a nice upgrade.

One thing to keep in mind is that the interior cabin noise of the 996 makes it very difficult to use a handsfree phone.  The engine noise and road/tire noise are excessive compared to more modern cars.  This makes it very difficult for your callers to hear or understand you.  If your main purpose for spending the money is for Bluetooth phone connectivity, then you might want to rethink your plan.  You would be happier with a nice bluetooth headset.  Your callers would be too.

  7. You might just need your stock suspension to be refreshed with new bushings. My C4S is on the stock suspension and it's very tight. I did have the bushings replaced a few years ago because it was starting to creak and groan a bit. If I was planning an upgrade, I would try to find a Porsche X73 suspension. You can't buy them new any longer, but you may be able to find a lightly used one.

  8. I had the opportunity to drive a new 997 (I know, it's not exactly the same) on the autobahn in Germany a couple of years ago.  The fastest that I went on the unlimited speed sections of the autobahn was just over 240 kilometers per hour, which is roughly 150 mph.  I noticed that the front end of the C2S that I was driving got a little "floaty" around 150 km/hour and it stabilized around 175 km/hour.  I found this to be the case on multiple occasions.  I think it's possible that what you're experiencing is normal.
