  1. Hello, I own a 2004 Cayenne S.

When the outside temperatures increased, I noticed that when starting the car and when AC is working hard that there is a loud whistling noise coming out of what seems like left front dash vents. The noise slowly goes away when the car reaches the desired temperature. The noise is pretty loud and very annoying, it feels like AC is working against some sort of obstacle in the AC tubing ...

There was no such noise during the winter months.

When I open ANY window or door (depressurize the car?), the noise goes immediately away.

    Any ideas? Thanks for help!

  2. I wish I could help but I haven't found any information on these heaters and system as they seem to be mostly used in Europe. Perhaps your best option would be to contact your local dealer.

The car was at the dealer's shop for 2 days. They also have very little experience with Porsche-installed parking heaters as they could not provide me with this information. They said that they have to contact the Porsche central and I have been waiting for their call for more than 2 weeks.

When I find the receiver location, guys at Webasto will install a new remote control system.

  3. Hello,

I have a 2004 CS with factory-installed parking heater (made by Webasto).

Does anyone know where the receiver box for the remote control is located? The antenna is supposed to be in the rear spoiler but I can't locate the receiver. The receiver should be somewhere in the rear trunk but I need the exact location so that the guys at Webasto can replace it with a new remote control system!

    Thanks for help!

  4. Hi all

just bought cayenne S from 2003, seller provided me with 2 remote controls for doors, and 1 for parking heater, but i can not find any manual on how to use this and wanted to make sure it is the right remote control.

does anyone have a picture of this to see if the 3rd remote is the right one? thanks for your help

I have the same problem and nobody can help me, including the authorized dealer.

To couple the remote control with your parking heater, you should do this (from an original Webasto manual):

    1) Install batteries in the transmitter

    2) Remove fuse number 2 from the left dashboard fuse box in your Cayenne

    3) Wait for at least 5 seconds

    4) Refit fuse in the fuse holder and presss OFF button on the transmitter for at least one second within the next five seconds (talk about complicating stuff ...)

This should do the trick, but it doesn't work in my case. My parking heater works fine when I program it or start it from the car but I can not use the remote control.

So good luck and please let me know if you get any more info on this annoying issue.

  5. Just to update you about my issue:

I have a 2004 CS with Webasto parking heater, which works perfecly when programming a timer or when starting it from within the vehicle. The problem is that my remote control and parking heater cannot connect.

I changed the batteries and used the official Webasto instructions on how to couple the heater to the remote without success.

My car was at the official Porsche shop and PIWIS found absolutely no faults. So they suspect that either the antenna or the remote control are faulty but they are not sure how to figure it out.

Can anyone help me with this frustrating issue before the cold central European winter is over? :)

    Much appreciated.

  6. The rear washer line usually will jump off the connector behind (above) the roof rear trim panel (the one with the interior light). Take a look while someone else activate the rear washer, water will drip off from the roof trim or in the cavities L and R in the trunk behind the removable trim.

Thanks for help but I am not sure if I understand the location correctly. Can you give me some more datail? How would you approach this issue?

  7. Common problem .. Hopefully yours is still just the clogged jet .. obviously try a thin wire into the nozzle jet in the rear high brake light..

Porsche Club of GB Forum has a thread on other areas the hose "fails" . on my old car it used to "blow" the hose off inside the rear Brake light .. so when I washed the rear window it would fill the rear high brake light and "dribble" onto the glass (few others get this too) .. Some one else had it leak into cars headlining and some one else into the dashboard area (causing a lot of electrical damage)

To replace the nozzle its a spoiler off job

Well, I tried with the thin wire and it didn't help - still no windshield washer coming out.

When I push the stalk forward I can clearly hear the "pump" working behind the passender's side dashboard. To me it sounds louder than when the pump for the front windshield, as if it was working against pressure (ie, clogged pipes). But this is just an observation.

    Ideas appreciated.

  8. Hello, I noticed that on my 2004 CS the rear windshield washer does not work. The front and headlight washers work perfectly but when I push the stalk to activate the rear windshield washer the "pump" and the rear wiper activate but no water actually comes out the rear nozzle.

Does this sound like "clogged" lines? Any suggestions for a DIY cleaning? Any other ideas?

  9. I think you need a dealer with a PIWIS to investigate this problem and the rear lid problem you have.

Loren, thanks for the tip. I did just that yesterday and no fauls showed up! So I remail clueless.

And I still can not program the Webasto Telestart by removing the fuse #2 and then inserting it again.

The one guy at my local Porsche shop who could "maybe" be able to progarm it is sick and nobody else has a clue on how to program it.

Are there any official Porsche instructions on how to set up remote control to Cayenne Webasto parking heater?

  10. I have a question about 2004 CS.

A few days ago, when we were driving home in a winter conditions with my wife and child in the rear seats, I noticed that there was very little air coming from the rear vents. Even though the hot air was blowing from the front vents, there was very little amount of cold air coming from the rear vents. There was even no significant difference if the rear vents were opened or closed.

The car heats up just fine with only the front vents working, but I still think this is strange. This issue has been present for a week now and it might have been there for a longer time but I just didn't notice it.

The car was at the shop 10 days ago for the main battery replacement and the tester showed no faults!

    Any ideas?

  11. Hello, I have had a 2004 Cayenne S for a while now. The car has a factory fitted parking heater (from the company called Webasto) that you can start by either programming the timer or by a Telestart remote control.

The programming works fine but I can not seem to get the Telestart remote control working, since there is no explanation in the user's manual. I found an original Webasto manual for the Telestart and here's what it says on "Learning the Telestart transmitter":

    1) Install batteries in the transmitter

    2) Remove A1 fuse (black) from the heater fuse holder

    3) Wait for at least 5 seconds

    4) Refit fuse in the fuse holder and presss OFF button on the transmitter for at least one second within the next five seconds (talk about complicating stuff ...)

As far as the Cayenne user manual goes, the parking heater fuses should be located in the left dashboard fuse box on locations 2 (5A), 4 (20A) and 48 (5A).

Does anyone have a clue about which one is the correct one to remove in order to couple the transmitter and the heater?

    Thanks a lot.

  12. I just want to hear your opinion on the "new" engine choice. The new Porsche 996 engine in my country would be around 19.000 $. And NO, I am not kidding, these are the European prices... this is obviously out of question.

I can get an engine from a wreck and pay about 7 - 10.000 $, but still have the same old engine.

The third option is to ship the engine to a specialized shop where they will rebuild it for about 7000 $. Apparently they use superior parts and these engines are much more reliable. Some even offer 6 or 12 months warranty.

I am leaning toward rebuilding my engine. At least I get some warranty ... What do you guys think?

  13. Hello, I wanted to share this story with you just to get the frustration out of my system:)

I have owned a 1999 C2 for about 1 month now. The car was purchased from one of our local Porsche Club members who is also a friend of mine and the car was in perfect condition with about 70.000 miles.

A few days after the purchase, a small oil leak was discovered. Nothing major, it only took a long time to figure out where the leak was coming from and it turned out to be a 20$ fix. The car ran fine all the time. After another week, there was a small coolant leak and a new expansion tank was ordered. The leak was very small, not big enough to drop the system coolant level and the engine was within normal working temperature range.

This Sunday me and my wife were driving on a highway from a friend's wedding. We were doing about 120 mph, when suddenly the "oil warning lamp" flashed, the oil pressure droppen to zero and some strange noise started to come from the engine.

The car was towed from the highway to the mechanic and the diagnosis was "crankshaft failure".

So I had the car for about 1 month, did about 300 miles on it, it spent half of this time at the mechanic to figure out where the oil was leaking from and now I need a new bloody engine.

This really should not be happening in Porsche world.
