I am in the UK, about to change my Boxster battery, and want to double check the procedure so that the alarm will not go ballistic when I do....
From looking at other posts on here, I THINK what I will need to do (once I have the car open, hood up etc.) is:
- Insert key, turn to position 2 - dashboard lights will come on
- Only NOW disconnect battery
- Leave key in place
- Change / connect new battery
- Only NOW remove key from ignition
As I understand it, I need to keep the key in etc. as on the UK / European cars there is a separate battery for the alarm, which you need to "trick" into thinking nothing is wrong before disconnecting the main battery?
Can anyone confirm that this is going to work, and not leave me deafened with upset neighbours??
Regards
PRS

Many thanks - yes, I believe it is different in the US, and yes, it IS very loud, as it also goes off on other occasions (e.g. when failing to get the key in the ignition within 10 secs. or so of having to use the key to access the car, having left the car in the garage for 3-5 days.....!).
Many thanks once again - of anyone else can "confirm" then please feel free, otherwise I will give it a go, and report back!
