  1. I have a 1999 Boxster. When I turn the key from position 0 to 1 the radio comes on then when I turn it from 1 to 2 the radio goes off. I ordered a 4A0905849 for the ignition. When I tried to install it I found out I needed a 4B0905849 so I sent the part back and got the correct part and found out it did the same as before. The radio works find except when the car is running. Has anyone got and clue what is going on?

  2. hello I have a 99 boxster with an 210 cdr unit. When the key is in the ACC position the radio works fine, but when I start the car and drive it does not work. I replace the key switch already and this still did not help the problem. Im sure there are some porsche savy people who can give me some direction. I also did check if it was a fuse issue and the fuse is good. The only thing I could think of is that the radio is wired where it accepts direct current when the key is in the ACC position for the memory, like a yellow wire on common car stereos. That would mean the direct current or red wire is not powering the unit. If anyone can shed some light on this situation I would really appreciate it, it has been over 4 yrs with this problem and I refuse to take it to the dealer and get hosed with some ridiculous amount for hourly labor.

Did you ever get it figured out? I had the same problem but when it started for me, Winter was coming on when I would start the car the radio would not come on for about 10 min, then when I was almost home the radio would come on. Now it just come on in the ACC position.

  3. I guess I should ask this in the Boxster forum but since this is where I came to when I put Remote in the search.

I had a key that I thought was going bad and and it looked pretty ratty so I decided to just get a new one. My second key had the trunk button broken. When I got the new key I asked if I could have the old parts. They gave them to me. In the bag there was the circuit board, a spring a plug and the "pill" I just put the old board in the second key fob. The lights flashed but nothing happened. Do I need to change the circuit board and the pill to make it work?

  4. can you give more detail or explain how you open it up? once you pry open the head of it, were you able to close it again? (if so, then I can transparent the ic chip to the new remote)

    Thanks!

It's a one-button key for a 1999 996. I just stuck my thumbnail in the crack and gently pried it open. The board is just held in with two clips.

Just be careful not to lose the rubber ring.

Sorry for the blurry picture. The camera on the iPhone is about the most worthless thing ever, and my real cameras are in the car.

For the key in the picture it isn't getting the key apart it is getting it back together. I read somewhere you have to put the remote in the top half of the fob (the part that has the buttons) and then put the two halfs back together. You would think you just put it in the bottom half, I tried that and the key didn't seal.

  5. Hello....,

I have had the exact same problem last summer.

Be sure you replaced the tray at the right place. The edge of the tray has to be placed inside the wings otherwise it will poor a lot of water....not easy to explain but just compare your installation with the one on the driver side.....you will probably find your problem.....by the way very easy to fix

    Good luck

    Robert

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. The tear WAS from the push rod so I will look closer at the 'foot print' of the frame base as well as perform a drip test. There was a substantial amount of water so I am hoping it is just the process of the foam drying out. Will report back after the weekend!

So after some difficulty locating the correct socket to remove the seat bolts I started the task of drying out the foam undrlay on the carpets. I was amazed at the amount of water the foam can absorb!!! I did not have a heater / fan powerful enough to dry the foam - it would have taken weeks at the rate it was going. I am now looking at removing the carpet completely and letting it hang to dry outside of the car.

The rip in the tray on my car is at the front end of the tray. It is under the frame assembly. If I take the cover off on the inside of the car the rip is right above the seat belt rewinder. I tried putting a tape under it but I didn't really think that would work. So for anyone that was able to patch it how did you get to the rip with out taking the roof off. Anyone seen a link on how to take the roof off if I do decide to try to completely replace the tray.

    Thanks Bill

  6. I run an older version of Durametric (3.x.x) and cannot clear these either. Maybe some else can elaborate on if alarm codes can be cleared or the item simply must be fixed first.

Anyways, I'll pulled my Durametric screenshots as I have the same (33) as you. I believe Lauren speculated some time ago that this is the infered sensors (rear view mirror) for motion control failing and it's fairly common. FYI that my system (alarm) still works fine (doors and trucks) with no error beep. I believe I tried to trigger the motion last summer (testing) and could not to support the theory.

I do not know of the other two codes, I'm sure Loren can shed some light. That issue about the local sounds as if there is a mechanical issue with the lock or the sensor is thinking there is a mechanical failure and thus telling the system the lock cannot work. Maybe the error codes tells of the location but I would check the trunks (and glove box if you have one) if the doors seem to be operating as expected.

Note my interesting pill failure code, sounds scary but car starts fine!

I have a 99 Boxster I ran the Durametric scan on my car. I clicked on the alarm tab and found four faults. My key and remote seam to work alright. Anyone have any idea what code 23 W lead is? I have code 42 Wrong Key or Transponder, I shouldn't be able to even start the car if I have the wrong Key or Transponder. My 33 code says Interior sensor faulty. and Code 60 Centeral Locking limit position. I didn't see any sort of summary page on the Durametric web page. Anyone seen a list?

    Thanks for any info

    Bill

  7. And now the plott thickens! I have a 1999 Boxster with a Becker CDR 220 stereo. When I put the key in and turn the key to (1) Ignition on the radio comes on. Then when the key is turned to (2) Start the radio goes off. When the car has been parked in the garage over nigtht it doesn't happen but when I leave work in the afternoon (I live in St Louis it has been cold) it does this. After the car has been driven for about 10 min. the radio will just come on. It is like the car has to warm up for the radio to come on. Sometimes if I let out on the clutch with out giveing enough gas it will just shut off sometimes it comes right back on and sometimes I have to wait. So I don't think it is a problem with the fuses.

OH by the way try pushing the EJECT button for the CD. Then once the door pops open and you close it make sure it latches on both sides I had a problem with that shutting the radio off when I first got my Boxster.
