  1. pressure plate teeths are uneven and clutch is worn out. Lucky it did not mess up my flywheel. I ordered OEM it's a daily driver. Almost bought a lightened flywheel but read some issues that it's not recommended for daily driving. It's my first time doing a clutch on Porsche and it's not easy the first time but next time will be a piece of cake. I still have to put it back on. Thanks for the individuals who posted instruction and pictures it would be a lot harder if I did not searched.

  2. Sorry! Time for a new clutch!

Wouldn't the clutch would go bad slowly like it would get worst and worst slowly, not like from running really solid to bad on one shift? Clutch pedal did not feel the same after it sliding. Could it be something else? Someone told me it could be the pressure plate since I went wider wheels and better tires from 8" to 11.5" on the rears 285 tires to 305 and have high mileage.

Just want to make sure before I drop the tranny this Sunday.

    Thanks!

  3. I tried to search but could not find it. I need help on my clutch it's sliding!

I started flooring the gas on fist gear up to 7k RPM and shifted fast to 2nd gear after it the clutch just slide and the car started running funny. It keeps sliding when I step on the gas.

It feels like the clutch s still on. I could drive the car it shifts but sliding when i step on the gas. it seems like the clutch won't go back up like someone is still stepping on it half way. I could drive it very slowly without putting too much gas and it shifts on higher gears without stepping on the clutch pedal. something got loose or a cable might have come lose. I went underneat and could not find a slave cylinder. I'm trying to do a cheap fix first. has anyone had this problem.

    Thnks

  5. I started my car after i just went to get coffee, it started fine and when I shifted it on reverse it started acting up and the car died it won't start again. I checked the gas and it still has 59miles to go. I thought it was the gas so i put 2 gallons and it still won't start. I put gas on the trottle and it started. Would this be the fuel pump. How could I test if the fuel pump is working and I did checked the fuse and it's okey. Don't know where the relay is located and the manual says relays should be replaced by authorized technicians only. The price of the Fuel Pump from the dealer is $490 and I would like to make sure that would be the problem if I replace it.

  6. Ive searched and saw the charts and numbers for 18" offset but I cant seem to find much for 19".

Does anyone know if rims with these offsets are ok for a C4?

    8.5" Front, Offest ET47

    10" Rear, Offset ET56

    Thanks

    19" 997 oem wheels with

    8.5" Fronts & 11.5" Rears

    55mm Fronts & 67mm Rears

fits mine just to give you an idea. But mine is only a 2 wheel drive, I think we have same offsets. Turbos and c4s are diff.

19's will look better but it wont handle as good as 18's. 18's is whats design for our car. If you don't race them you should be ok. I have 19's now I feel the road more. I'll get another set of 18's oem 5 spokes for the track later. Post pictures if you get em. Have a good day!

  7. i want to put a set of 18's w/ an offset of 48 for fronts and 50 for the rears. what are the correct spacers need to used these rims

what size 18s are you planning to put on. The lower the offset the more it will stick out so you wont need spacers the question is would they rub against your fenders. Specially the fronts when you turn. It's .6693 inches

difference on the rears and .1575 in the fronts. If the wheels are the same size with oem(original equipment manufacturer).

looks like youll be ok with those offset. But don't take my word make sure, Measure how much room you have. I can't measure mine anymore I just remember theres little room for spacers when i had my originals

  8. I will get it repaired this coming monday hopefully. The shop is charging me $225 a piece. it will look like new after

according to them. I will clean it while it's up on the rack if they allow me. So simple green is the stuff to use. I will

look on the lug nuts maybe they could do that for me also. should I keep the color blue or paint it black. A friend of mine is suggesting match it with my car. Not sure what would look best?

Thanks for all the reply and advise!

  9. I swapped my 5 spoke 18" wheel for this 19" HRE, looks good and aggressive.

Feels harder on the road coz' it's wider I guess and bigger. Here are pics'

It's not perfect but will get it repaired in the future. Hope you guys like it!

It's a unique look, IMO You're gonna have to keep them really clean to pull off the look and I would def. go with some chrome lugs.

It seems odd for some reason they look smaller than my 19's? Maybe it's just due to the dark centers? It will be harder on the road due to the rigidity of the smaller sidewall. Hope you enjoy it.

    "Edited out the pics"

I will actually clean and paint those lug nuts silver or black, they look smaller coz of the step lips. You probably have the flat deep dish. The center hub radius will be bigger and wheels will look bigger too. And you are right it feels like I have coilovers now they are stiffer on the road and feels a lot more with those wider bigger wheels

    Thanks

  10. I just purchased a Recaro Vivo and this kind fits perfect, an inch more it will not go. It's for 30 to 80lbs I believe 3 to 10 yrs old. I searched for a long time and saw the dimensions of this seat but I could not find anything around that stocks em on a shelf to try it, but with the dimensions and measurement of the porsche 03 996 c2 back seat measures up. So I went and ordered it through target.com (ebay has it also) and I'm Glad I did. It does not only fit, but it really looks good and goes with the car and looks very safe . I have a 3 year old and my 8yr old nephew who doesnt use one anymore wants me to buy him one too....I took shots on every angle possible, room from top, space behind the child seat, leg room (the front passenger seat moved all the way forward), side view, and front view . Sorry for the quality I just used a celll phone, hope i attached this pictures right if not please let me know. The best part also It's only $109 shipped with the color I have the others like gray/black are $10 cheaper. Enjoy!

  11. I did the mk11 mod on a 3.6 can, paid $80 to a muffler shop.(Those suckers are huge and heavy)it's not as loud as i thought it would be on idle, but it does sounds really good on high rpm's. I installed the ebay headers that's going for $150 total including shipping. And did the mod for the $10 intake mod also "Air box modification found in DIY Mods by Blueline". All this mods For $240, I am very pleased with the result. The car just goes with a deep sound like a race car. It's amazing, the car is so much more fun to drive now. And it did not cost me a fortune. I highly recommend it.

heres the picture i showed the muffler shop.

    Hey Miks,

Do you have any sound bites of this set-up? I'd love to hear it!

    :D

I'll try and record it soon and upload it! It sounds really cool in the car!

  12. Hi,

Wanted to ask if 996 Porsches 1999 are a good buy. I heard these early 996s have some engine problems compared to the 3.6 liters found on 996 2002 going up. Prices on the 1999 996s, 3.4 litres are inviting and way cheaper compared to the 3.6 litre. If money is not an issue off course i'll buy the 3.6 liters. Question is does the 3.4 engine have lots of problem? how much will it cost if engine fails? is it better to just wait and save more money to go with the 3.6 liter 996s. My brother drives a 3.6 liter 996 and his car is a blast. planning of buying a porsche in the next 6 months or earlier.

    thanks, please advise.
