Do ECU upgrades void warranty?
John
-
Wartooth,
Let us all know when you do the ECU upgrade . We'll be anxious to hear if it does make a big diff. congrats on the new car. I just got my 2008 base boxter with pasm and it is fantastic. know how you feel :D

Phunder,
Try Mantis in Oakville, Speers road area. They do Porsche repairs and are highlighted in the PCA UCR magazine and many members use them. Worth a try. They use original Porsche parts.

Here are some pics.

BE-AUTI-FUL!
When you start driving it with the top down, you're going to have a hard time wiping that Permagrin off your face!
Enjoy and drive it in good health!
Regards, Maurice.
Maurice,
Can't wait for the warmer weather to do exactly that. The grin has already started :)

Took it on some winding roads today and was reminded of why I bought it :) Haven't tried the PASM yet but that will come.

I have waited 7 months so maybe another 2 weeks won't kill me. :D
Or will it??? lol jk Congrats! What options did you pick?
PASM
Wind deflector
Sound Plus
18" Boxster S wheels
Bixenon Lights
Heated seats and Climate control are standard in Canada, probably due to the much higher price we pay
Sport Steering wheel
Coloured wheel crest
Electronic adjustable seats
I think that is it.

Just got a call that my new 2008 Boxster has arrived at the dealer. I can hardly sit still untill it is ready for pickup. Only problem is the salt on the roads from the ton of snow we got in the Toronto, CAN area. Will have to leave it at the dealer until the salt is washed away, bummer. I have waited 7 months so maybe another 2 weeks won't kill me. :D

Thanks for the info guys.

Anyone know if the 911 C4S can be taken onto a track in stock form without a bolt in roll bar?
thanks,
John

My Boxster is to be ready on the 19th of Feb. Does anyone know how long it takes for a Boxster to go from beginning to end on the line?
As you might have gussed, I can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D
John
John:
Congratulations!
The wait can be made a little easier if you can get a heads up from your salesman when your car gets loaded onto a ship. You can then follow its voyage and learn the arrival date at the U.S. port.
Regards, Maurice.
My brother lives in NY state and he ordered his 911 from a Pennsylvania dealer. It took 5 weeks from build date to delivery. Just wondered if this was your experience. Because I live in the Toronto area, the port of entry is Halifax, NS. Haven't heard if we can track the progress across the ocean but I will be asking. Thanks for all the high fives. Will try to figure how to upload pics when it comes.

Since RFM is from Belguim I wonder if the numbers he is quoting are Euro specs or US. I don't know if they are different... Anyone???
Regards,
Alan
I have checked these numbers with ones I saw in a book by Paul Frere on the Boxster. Here is what he stated as the numbers for the 2005 model.
Boxter
spring rate (N/mm) Front 27 Rear 30
Anti roll bar Front 23.6 x 3.4 Rear 19.0 x 2.5
Boxter S
spring rate (N/mm) Front 27 Rear 33
Anti roll bar Front 24 x 3.8 Rear 19.6 x 2.6
Boxter S PASM
spring rate (N/mm) Front 33 Rear 40
Anti roll bar Front 24.5 x 3.8 Rear 19.6 x 2.6
It seems RFMs numbers were close but look off when looking at the rear stabalizer bar. Why would it be less than the 05 models? When looking at the Parts manual for the MY07, the front of the Boxster PASM and the Boxster S PASM have the same part number but the rears are diff. probably due the extra weight in the S model. Bottom line, the PASM on the Boxster improves the suspension a fair bit and for that I am happy. Any confirmation of exact specs would be appreciated.

987 PASM
Front 33 N/mm Stabiliser bar: 24.0 x 3.8 mm
Rear 40 N/mm Stabiliser bar: 18.5 x 2.5 mm
987S PASM
Front 33 N/mm Stabiliser bar: 24.5 x 3.8 mm
Rear 40 N/mm Stabiliser bar: 18.5 x 2.5 mm

RFM,
Thanks for the quick response.

Only the front springs have the same characteristics.
987 S front without PASM 27N/mm stabiliser bar: 24,0 x 3,8mm
rear without PASM 33N/mm stabiliser bar: 19,6 x 2,6mm
987 C S front without PASM 27N/mm stabiliser bar: 24,5 x 3,8mm
rear without PASM 40N/mm stabiliser bar: 19,0 x 2,7mm
Hope it help.
RFM,
would you know the specs for the Boxster with PASM. I can't seem to find this anywhere.
thanks,
John
-
That is the part number for the PASM option - for both cars.
Thanks Loren
-
The front springs are the same part number. The rear springs are different part numbers.
I do not know how the rears are different - but is is likely related to rear weight ratio in the Cayman.
Loren,
is that "same part number as the Boxter S and diff for the rear given the diff in wt. for the Boxter S"?

Wondered if anyone knew what the Boxter 2.7 spring rates are with pasm. Can't seem to find whether they are the same as Boxter S with PASM or not. Take possession of my Boxter mid March and "birthday" is Feb. 19. Can't wait :jump: Read in a book the spring rates and antisway bar dimensions but not for the Boxter 2.7 since when book was written it wasn't an option on the 2.7.
thanks,
John

You can calculate the approx ground speed at fuel cut off for all gears as follows:
5 sp. forward gears (std 17" tyres)
("current engine rpm"/1000)*5*("transmission gear#")= "x" mpg
i.e. for 3rd gear at redline (7200/1000)*5*(3)=108 mpg
I've noticed that interesting relationship before while driving; the gears are almost exactly evenly separated so you can approx groundspeed knowing only rpm and gear. This is for the 5sp only on the Boxster std.
ATLD
the final ratio for the boxter is 3.75 and for Boxter S, 3.84. This is why the RPMs in 5th in the Boxter are very close to that of the 6sp. So much for fuel savings with the 6sp. Just google rpm calculator and you can figure out speeds at various rpms knowing a few specs for each boxter.

Well I seem to have finally solved this intermittent but annoying problem. I sprayed the wide triangular flap shown above with pure silicone on both sides quite liberally as well as the plastic parts that surrond the window where they join each other and where they come in contact with the edge of the top. No more clicking sound even in cold weather now. My theory is that the flap was catching on the protruson from the bar it is attached to. It showed signs of wear on that side. The dealer had previously fixed the problem on the other side by lubricating something so I think it may be the flap. Might be the plastic trim as well.
Where is the picture? Any chance they actually fix these things in later models?
Oil LEAK
in 987-1 Boxster Convertible Top Issues and Solutions

Had an oil leak shortly after picking up my 08 Boxster. First was told it was 2 valve cover bolts that were defective. Now they told me the Variocam solenoid cover was the leak location. Parts are ordered and should be here tomorrow. Hope this does it.
