Very easy to replace. Open engine lid and then unbolt and slide out. But lights are not cheap.

For the last couple of weeks I have had recurrent idle problems on my 99. I get no CELs. I have run techron through the car twice. I have removed and cleaned the idle control valve which was covered inside with carbon build up, the MAF and throttle body. Provided only temporary relief for a day or two. Will there be codes to read eventhough I am not getting a CEL. Is it worth just replacing the ICV and seeing if that does the trick. It was really caked and though I soaked it with carb cleaner and let it sit and then cleaned it two more times there was still some carbon deposits left.

Mystery solved. its now two seperate parts. 996-541-541-01 and an outer rubber seal 996-541-531-01
-
996.541.541.01 is for MY01 and older
996.541.541.02 is for MY02 and newer
996.541.541.00 does not exist in the parts list or any of the old price lists I have (back to 2003).
I have a MY99 coupe and mine is about 1/2 inch wide. How wide is your trim piece?
The one on the car about 1/2 inch the replacement part labeled on the part 996.541.541.01 about 1/4 inch The part # on the existing one is 996.799.541.00

Looking for correct current part # for '99 996 coupe windshield trim. Dealers all say 996-541-541-01 however, that part is much narrower. The existing trim say 996-799-541-00, which I believe has been replaced by a different part.

Yup its a scraper. Have it om my 99 and I still can't get out of my driveway wthout scrapiny a little.

How involved is replacing the front windshield trim is this DIY?

I have the fabspeed mufflers on my '99 996. While I am very happy with the sound, there is some occassional resonance around 2300-2600 rpm which is around 60-65mph in 6th gear.

I don't believe the aerokit II will fit your car. If its the same bumper as for the 996 it is for the facelifted 02 and on 996s. You need the Aerkit I bumber for 99-01 996s
-
I agree the OEM kit is the way to go just had it installed on my '99 996 front bumper and skirts only. Just beware of Departstop on E-bay and LA Porsche Dismantellers. I would try sunset, suncoast and brandywine.

That sucks. 3.6 is not any easy fit, different electronics etc. I believe a remanufactured motor from porsche is between 8-10k not including installation.
I have a '99 996 Cab with under 50k miles and suspect a blown head gasket or worse. The car has never overheated or run more than a couple of ounces low on coolant. The other day within less than a mile of driving, engine running rough, CEL flashing, coolant dripping out exhaust and muffler to Cat connection. Called dealer and they said probably head gasket or slipped sleeve. I thought the sleeves were cast in and couldnt slip. Does anyone know for sure? Or have any ideas? I have no warrenty and am the second owner and may want to fix it myself. Or I thought about a low mileage 3.6 and am wondering if anyone knows if it would fit? What does Poesche typically charge for a remanufactured motor? Thanks for any help or related info. -
I like the sylvania bulbs I think they are ultra white, don't use that blue tinted crap.
Hello,I was wondering if anyone might know what the best (easiest) way to align the headlights on a 99 -996. These are not Litronics..just good old standard lights.
Also, if I have to remove the module I was thinking about switching to whiter/brighter lights. What bulbs are the best performers without spending the $1,500+ on litronics?
Thanks,

Anyone have the part # for the aero Mk1 front bumper cover for a '99 996

Do a search on the web there are companies that specialize in tinting lights. My tailights are also tinted on my 996 ocean blue and look great IMHO. I believe it is an exterior applied paint and clear coat, not applied to the inside of the lights.

If you only hear it for 2 seconds when the car is started cold I wouldn't think that's is from an over rev. It was probably always there your just hearing it now 'cause your looking for something.

Steam cleaner worked in wife's lexus. Sprayed steam in vents and through intakes untill steam came out all vents. Should kill all bacteria for a while.

Go with 18s even the top tuners say not to use 19s on the 996.
Hello everyone,I am just wandering what after market size rims are the most desired for the 996.
Do you guys prefer 18" or 19"?
I have a 99 C4 and am considering SSR or BBS rims - 18"x8.5" Offset 47 (Front) and 18"x11.5" Offset 35 (Rear) with 225/40/18 (front) and 295/30/18 (Rear). What do you think? Are the 295s too much for the rears of a C4?

Sounds like the stocks shocks aren't up to the task.
