  1. Has anyone been able to remove the cd based system and install a DVd based system from an 06? What would be involved in this? I may consider upgrading to a Pioneer AVIC unit. About $2700 to $4000 depending on your current setup, if done by the dealership.
  2. Interesting. How much would you say you saved with the DIY? I'm not bad, but I move slowly (especially when I'm scared about breaking things that cost WAY too much to fix).
  3. Might I ask what you are trying to do? $5 says he's going for a turbo dash in an S :)
  4. http://www.ortonperformance.com/porsche/e1tengine.html PSI 650 - Jump from 450hp to an incredible 650hp! PSI 510 - Instantly go from 450hp to 510hp! From $2000 to $27000. I'm quite sure I've seen a $600 chip deal somewhere, I just can't remember. I was planning on doing it and lost the link.
  5. Roughly the same rate of consumption on my 04 turbo (51k mi) for oil. It was kinda scary at first, until you realize you have a LONG time until your next oil change. I'm beginning to like this approach - I just ordered a small box of oil wholesale, and keep a bottle of Mobil1 5w30 in the back (next to CDC) for my own convenience. Factory fill is 0W40 why would you use 5W30? Because I live in Florida, and I've only seen temperatures here dip below 32F twice in the last 14 years.
  6. More power? I'd guess chipping the ECM would improve what you're looking for; I'd expect exhaust and intake to be fairly free-flowing already. Either way, I'd suggest you get the intake/exhaust swapped before you get the computer modifications. Personally? I'm going with bigger brakes. I already can outperform anything crazy enough to consider me a challenge.
  7. Hi Chriz, mObridge does support the latest iPod generations. We have the 3rd Gen Nano, Classic and Touch all working just fine and many customers with this working fine also. I suggest you upgrade to the latest iPod software that was released about 1 week ago if you are having any problems. Kind regards, mObridge Support Team Don't suppose your update fixes the "this device was not made for iPhone. Would you like to enable Airplane Mode?" notice? It would be a really nice feature....
  8. What kind of updates? Specifically, CD or DVD, and what year/month? (can be obtained by the part number)
  9. I have the Dension Gateway 500 and both Ipod Touch and the Iphone work very well with no problems. Randy I get the "want to turn on airplane mode?" prompt from my iphone with the m0bridge. You do not get that with the Denison?
  10. Those are all very common replacement items (most collisions include these locations). The $3200 for the parts really isn't that far off. You might be able to get it for dealer price somewhere, but it won't be a significant difference (I'd guess $500 cheaper).
  11. I got an answer from Navteq pretty easy: "no, will never be any further updates for CD based maps for Porsche."
  12. No. Mobridge will have a "m0bridge Video" module scheduled for late 2008 release that will allow that. Copy of my email from m0bridge:
  13. Cayenne mObridge installation (w/images) I recently installed my mObridge Audio device in my Cayenne Turbo, and wanted to share a bit of experience for anyone considering the same path. I opted to do the install up front in case I needed to access the device for firmware updates. The rest of the options for the device are easily relocated, but to use the SD card access for music or for flashing the firmware requires physical access. The best location I found was the panel directly behind the glove box. There is a s Author 3ball Category Cayenne (9PA, 9PA1) - Mods Submitted 04/28/2008 10:11 AM Updated 03/14/2017 07:06 AM

I opted to do the install up front in case I needed to access the device for firmware updates. The rest of the options for the device are easily relocated, but to use the SD card access for music or for flashing the firmware requires physical access. The best location I found was the panel directly behind the glove box. There is a single black screw holding the black body panel on, and once removed the entire panel drops down with easy access to the power as well as the rear to the PCM. The wiring was easy EXCEPT the part required to bypass the CDC. There is a loopback device that sends the MOST channel from the CDC to the mObridge box that requires the CDC be dismounted. To remove the CDC is a nightmare, since the body panel in front of it appears to be necessary to remove. I don't have a picture of that, but you can easily imagine how ugly it gets to remove all that. Overall, I'm not real pleased. I expected much better controls and response. You cannot skip songs on a playlist under the current revision of firmware. You can skip around under the "all songs" playlist, but if I want to hear YYZ, I'm screwed on a 160gb iPod. I fully expect it to be resolved in a firmware update, but I'm still a bit pissed off. At least it makes a decent OEM looking install! I'm working on a custom insert for my center dash piece, where the drink holders go. The insert is currently removeable, and created a perfect location to store an ipod (fat chance of actually drinking a soda when riding with me, that's for sure).
  15. All of them? or a specific location? And why would you remove them? They're not THAT bad heh. The rear door sounds blown and since I am there would like to replace all of them. I don`t have the Bose Should be an easy thing for any speaker shop; We took most of my panels off last week, but did not do the door. I would definitely take it to someone insured who does it for a profit. Each panel you break will make you cry; trust me.
  16. Hello, Can you let me know if it did work ? I have the same issue and it says Error . You have a DVD based PCM to be put into a CD based Cayenne? I'm going to say you can safely expect multiple errors, if it works at all. If you're adding the DVD nav unit also, I'd love to see how you mount yours; I looked into it and I would have to replace the entire seat it was to be mounted under.

  18. There is a single black plastic panel behind/below your glovebox. ONE screw removes the entire panel, and you can access the entirety of the dash space with relative ease from there. I will be posting pictures of my ipod adapter setup (which was stored behind that panel) tomorrow, which includes pictures of that panel removed for your reference.
  19. Not sure. Could always check and ask. I installed my mobridge friday, and it sounds good. I'm a bit irritated about the input method; either i'm retarded or you can't easily skip around songs inside playlists. I can skip songs easily from the "all songs" settings, but it's like pulling teeth to figure out how when you're playing the song list. I'll post pictures tomorrow.
  20. Could also help to post this in the Boxster forums instead of the Cayenne forums :)
  21. Don't give up just yet; I see he's sold several on ebay recently, all with positive feedback. That's odd, if none of them work. I'd contact the seller in reference to the "software" needed to use with the cable. Using the most current durametric software with a counterfeit cable is probably not going to work in any case.
  22. PST2 is the previous generation Porsche Certified diagnostic device, now replaced by the PIWIS tester mentioned in the auction. The PIWIS tester is expensive (last I saw it was a $20,000 lease, and only to certified Porsche repair shops/dealers), and is a self-contained computer system. This looks identical to my Durametric tool (www.durametric.com) which does some useful things, but nowhere near as complete as a PIWIS. I'll be real suprised if this isn't just a total ripoff covered by a blatant lie about the uses. CAN Bus (Controller Area Network) VAG (Volkswagen Audi Group) As far as what does Porsche require... I'm not sure what you're asking in regards to.
  23. Looks identical to my Durametric tool. I'd pass on buying it, since Durametric tools have a maximum of 3 different vehicles ever to read (unless you buy the more expensive PRO edition). Means even a working tool would still be useless to you if it has been used on 3 different cars so far.
