  1. My 2005 Cayenne turbo (81000km) uses about 2 liters in 5000km

Roughly the same rate of consumption on my 04 turbo (51k mi) for oil. It was kinda scary at first, until you realize you have a LONG time until your next oil change. I'm beginning to like this approach - I just ordered a small box of oil wholesale, and keep a bottle of Mobil1 5w30 in the back (next to CDC) for my own convenience.

Factory fill is 0W40 why would you use 5W30?

Because I live in Florida, and I've only seen temperatures here dip below 32F twice in the last 14 years.

  2. I just spent about $1,500 to replace my main display in my Cayenne Turbo. OUCH! The halogen backlight went out in the digital screen. No way to repair it..only replace the entire gauge cluster. Since then the display always returns to Average Speed when I shut the car off. I always used to keep it at Range and never remember having to cycle through to it every time I would drive it. Now, It always goes back to Average Speed and I have to cycle to range....obviously unless I just want to keep it at Average Speed. I already selected Reset to Factory Settings to see if that fixed it (it fixed other problems before) but I'm still coming up with Average Speed when I start the car even after I shut it off with Range selected. Any suggestions? Anyone have this happen before?

Mine does this, I assumed it was normal.

  3. Hi guys I'm currently in the process of modifying my Cayenne Turbo S and wondered if any of you had any tips or ideas. I have already planned a bodykit but was wondering which is the best exhaust to go for? Im also on the hunt for more power so any help there would also be apprieciated. On the subject of bodykits does anyone know where the best place to purchase a Techart Magnum bodykit would be.

    Any help would be apprieciated.

    thanks

More power? I'd guess chipping the ECM would improve what you're looking for; I'd expect exhaust and intake to be fairly free-flowing already. Either way, I'd suggest you get the intake/exhaust swapped before you get the computer modifications.

Personally? I'm going with bigger brakes. I already can outperform anything crazy enough to consider me a challenge.

  4. Also be aware that the mObridge doesnt support the latest Ipod generations, i.e. no ipod nano 3rd gen, no ipod classic 5th and 6th gen, no ipod touch at all. Not sure about the Dension. But from what i know the Dension unit works with the newer ipods with some limitations.

    Hi Chriz,

mObridge does support the latest iPod generations. We have the 3rd Gen Nano, Classic and Touch all working just fine and many customers with this working fine also. I suggest you upgrade to the latest iPod software that was released about 1 week ago if you are having any problems.

    Kind regards,

    mObridge Support Team

Don't suppose your update fixes the "this device was not made for iPhone. Would you like to enable Airplane Mode?" notice? It would be a really nice feature....

  5. I have the mObridge unit installed since a few days. Works perfect.

One (IMHO big) advantage of the Dension unit is that it comes with a USB port. You can play back music files from a USB memory stick or even a USB hard disk.

The mObridge unit does have a SD card slot, but its for firmware updates only. You cant playback any .mp3 files stored on a SD card with the mObridge.

If i knewed before that the SD slot of the mObridge is for update purposes only i would have bought the Dension Gateway 500, since its more flexible.

I have the Dension Gateway 500 and both Ipod Touch and the Iphone work very well with no problems.

    Randy

I get the "want to turn on airplane mode?" prompt from my iphone with the m0bridge. You do not get that with the Denison?

  6. If I get the bluetoon that integrates my iphone with the steering wheel, is it possible to watch movies that on either my iphone/ipod through the nav screen?

No. Mobridge will have a "m0bridge Video" module scheduled for late 2008 release that will allow that.

Copy of my email from m0bridge:

    Hi Justin,

mObridge Video is yet another product that is designed with loose plans for production late this year. Though I agree it will be an exciting product when/if it does come along.

Just FYI - the PCMs in Cayenne will generally support video (because they were built with backup-cam in mind) whereas those in the 996/997/Boxster/Caymans do not, to the best of our knowledge, although we are always researching new ways to do things.

You'll see more info on our website as things evolve.

Thanks for your business, as always.

    Best,

    Scott

  7. Cayenne mObridge installation (w/images)

I recently installed my mObridge Audio device in my Cayenne Turbo, and wanted to share a bit of experience for anyone considering the same path. I opted to do the install up front in case I needed to access the device for firmware updates. The rest of the options for the device are easily relocated, but to use the SD card access for music or for flashing the firmware requires physical access. The best location I found was the panel directly behind the glove box. There is a s

  8. Does any one knows how to remove the speakers from a 2004 Cayenne?

    Thank you

All of them? or a specific location? And why would you remove them? They're not THAT bad heh.

The rear door sounds blown and since I am there would like to replace all of them.

    I don`t have the Bose

Should be an easy thing for any speaker shop; We took most of my panels off last week, but did not do the door. I would definitely take it to someone insured who does it for a profit. Each panel you break will make you cry; trust me.

  9. Hi !

Can Anyone tell me can I put a US 2006 PCM unit + US DVD navigation unit to my Europe 2003 Cayenne Turbo which has only CD navigation?

Is It going to work without any error(radio frequency can be all ex.:FM 90.1MHz and 90.2MHz can be seen also?)?

Thanks and best regards for All !!!

Hello, Can you let me know if it did work ? I have the same issue and it says Error .

You have a DVD based PCM to be put into a CD based Cayenne? I'm going to say you can safely expect multiple errors, if it works at all. If you're adding the DVD nav unit also, I'd love to see how you mount yours; I looked into it and I would have to replace the entire seat it was to be mounted under.

  10. Hi folks,

I will be mounting my XM Airware on the console, and need to run my modulator wiring up the passenger side of the console to plug into the antenna connection of the CDR23.

I have no issues with sliding out the CDR23. I already did it to do a dry run of the modulator to ensure it worked properly.

Now I want to do a permanent mount. How do i get my modulator cables up into the cavity in the back of the CDR23?

I have seen posts referring to shining a flashlight from the passenger footwell to see where the cable should run into the back.

Do I remove the passenger footwell, black plastic piece? Do you run something akin to a fish tape in through the CDR23 opening and down into the passenger foot well in order to pull the modulator cables up?

    thanks for the help........

There is a single black plastic panel behind/below your glovebox. ONE screw removes the entire panel, and you can access the entirety of the dash space with relative ease from there. I will be posting pictures of my ipod adapter setup (which was stored behind that panel) tomorrow, which includes pictures of that panel removed for your reference.

  11. Is this group purchase still active?

Not sure. Could always check and ask. I installed my mobridge friday, and it sounds good. I'm a bit irritated about the input method; either i'm retarded or you can't easily skip around songs inside playlists. I can skip songs easily from the "all songs" settings, but it's like pulling teeth to figure out how when you're playing the song list. I'll post pictures tomorrow.

  12. any idea how this work. From the site it said some thing CAN? VAG? What is that and what does Porsche require

    thanks

PST2 is the previous generation Porsche Certified diagnostic device, now replaced by the PIWIS tester mentioned in the auction. The PIWIS tester is expensive (last I saw it was a $20,000 lease, and only to certified Porsche repair shops/dealers), and is a self-contained computer system. This looks identical to my Durametric tool (www.durametric.com) which does some useful things, but nowhere near as complete as a PIWIS. I'll be real suprised if this isn't just a total ripoff covered by a blatant lie about the uses.

    CAN Bus (Controller Area Network)

    VAG (Volkswagen Audi Group)

As far as what does Porsche require... I'm not sure what you're asking in regards to.

  13. Ok, so how much is the PCM upgrade going to set you back? I'm thinking it might be significantly cheaper and better overall to get access to the AV button/video display mode of the PCM and broadcast from an external GPS like a tomtom or handheld PC. The updates would then be consistent and far cheaper.. If you mounted it right you could surf the web on it too..

    Just my .02,

    - Andrew

As an update, the PCM upgrade cost is insane. I have estimated closer to $4500 including the DVD mount under the seat, the swapping and reprogramming of PCMs, and the work involved. However, I'll end up with a perfectly working used CD based PCM, which could easily be resold for $1000.

Needless to say, I'm just going to wait for this summer to see how the Mobridge Video comes out. I already have a Mobridge Audio installed now, but I'd easily buy the video if the price is low enough to do a VGA output (or even RCA).
