  1. Is there a way to reset or reboot the computer on a '99 Boxster ? I've got a Volvo that had some weird electrical issues and the computer can be reset by turning the key in door 2 times to the right and then 2 times to the left. Is there any built-in reset procedures on a Boxster? :lightbulb:

Some of the problems I am having all of the sudden is that the remote key lock wont work, but the trunk works fine (and I can sometimes open/lock the doors if I push both the trunk and door lock at the same time  ), flashing temp light, airbag light came on. All these issues pretty much started at the same time, and MAY be the result of eeprom computer issues or similar. :cursing:

    Any help us mucho appreciated!

  2. Just called http://www.autopartsperformance.com as well.......... they're main site is actually http://www.thepartsbin.com

    Talked to "Bill" @ #206 - very helpful. B)

Was able to find the exact part for my MAF (using Porsche's part #) @ $189 :clapping: (free shipping as noted above). Will get it Friday and report back with my experiance......as well as pics and details of my existing MAF once removed as well as the "new one". He said "Bosch" retail price was about $345....dealer's retail is usually higher (as is the case).

Air Filters by the way are $23.56 (my dealer $39.32!) Pollen Filters $36.84 vs. $59.09. Price's look very good !

    (with fingers crossed)

  3. Wow....thanks for the great reply!

Mine looked identical to the pictures....even with the dust!

So far so good as the Check engine light has not come on again (been about 40 miles so far). I still feel some hesitation at times...so I'm not real optimistic....but ya never know till ya try! I'm temped to buy a new one and just swap it out to see if there is it solves some of this issue.

    Thanks again!

  4. I have the classic problems related to a failing MAF (99' 2.5L Boxster - MAF Part # 996 606 123 00). I want to replace the unit myself, but is it neccessary to recalibrate the MAF and ECU after a new one is installed?

(My dealer wants $375 for the unit and 1.5 hours labor, when I can buy it for $235 and install it myself in about 15 mins.) :soapbox: I cleaned it today and will see if this helps, but I'm pretty sure it needs to be replaced.

Only issue I have is whether I need to have the ECU recalibrated.......and if so, how much should I expect to pay the dealer for this?

    Thanks mucho
