  1. My windshield is broken and needs to be replaced. I checked with the dealer and they use an outside glass company to do the install work with Porsche parts. Two questions:

    1. Is the antenna for the radio in the windscreen? I have an '02 C2 coupe. Any reason not to use an aftermarket piece of glass?

    2. Has anyone had the replacement done by an indy glass co? I've had repairs from Safelite and am not sure the kids they send out for that work are competent for the whole windshield in my Porsche.

  2. The spoiler light has never come on before since the spoiler is not the mechanical moving type. When I reconnected the wires, I had one for the 3rd brake light in the wing, one for the fan and another for the light. There is an unused plug sitting on the passenger side that seems to be included with the other wires going to the decklid. Should that be plugged somewhere? I don't see a home for it and don't recall having to unplug it when removing the deck/spoiler.

  3. I had to take off my rear decklid. I have a fixed rear spolier, factory installed. Now that it is back on, the car seems to think I've got the standard moveable spoiler. I'm getting the SPOILER ACTIVATION FAILURE warning when I exceed 60 mph and again when I slow down. It seems that I have everything hooked up as it was originally. What did I do wrong and how do I fix it?

  4. CA is a very protectionist state when it comes to vehicle warranties. They make it nearly impossible for most aftermarket extended warranty companies to sell there by requiring them to only be sold through a dealership.

    The plan offered by InsurancePoliciesOnline.com is available in CA. The reason is that it is an actual insurance policy and not simply an extended service contract. This is an important distinction. The policy is issued by Virginia Sureity Insurance Company, which is duly licensed in CA, and carries an A rating from AM Best.

  5. I agree that it wouldn't be an ideal option, but I also don't think it would be horrible. Assuming you have the proper size tires - match the outside diameter and rev's per mile as close as you can - it should handle decently. If you do this, start with changing the front's to 17's.

    You know, another option is to sell the spare 17's on ebay and use the money to buy new 18" tires. In all honesty, the prices of the tires is not that bad in either size.

    You won't have any problem with insurance once you wreck. There is no exclusion for supidity.... j/k

  6. Be sure you match, or exceed, the OE speed and load index. There are MANY quality tires available at reasonable prices other than Pirelli, B/S, Conti, Michelin, etc. Kumho, Nexen, Falken, Hankook, Toyo, etc are all good options. Many of these will also last longer than the OE, but not give quite the same performance at the extremes. I've driven on (and sold) just about all of them and think you'd do fine with any for a daily driver.
