  1. I don't think Porsche makes any, but I bought a set from VividRacing.
  2. Some 06 Caymans have had what is called a "trunk thump" which is a noise made by the rear hatch when you go over bumps (mine doesn't have the problem, so I am going by other's descriptions). It is related to the weight that is mounted inside the hatch door itself, and there is an official Porsche fix for it if it occurs (it is not a recall campaign). It is not related to the engine. For an aftermarket part or modification to void your warranty, the factory service dept. has to be able to prove that the modification caused the problem that you bring it in for, and it would only void the warranty for that part or system. The GIAC software may be detectable by the PIWIS computer (I don't know for sure), but just having it wouldn't necessarily void your whole warranty.
  3. Congrats! Similar story with me - I wanted a Porsche since about the time I started driving - only took about 35 years in my case, to finally realize that dream. I bought a used 06 Cayman S also. You should also check out www.caymanclub.net (if you haven't already) and introduce yourself there - for Cayman owners it's the most informative (and entertaining) web site on the internet.
  4. Well, the problem is, I don't think there is a consensus on any one system, since some of the measures are pretty close or subjective: 1 & 4 - a lot of debate on this on Cayman Club and you should review some of the Dyno results on the Cayman Club Dyno forum. My gestalt is that the best one can hope for is maybe 5-15 WHP increase with a more free flowing (i.e. delete 2nd Cat) system. PSE apparently doesn't add any significant power. 2 - Highly subjective - what is "least irritating" to you may annoy the hell out of me :) . You can find some sound sample files on YouTube or some of the manufacturers websites. At least with the PSE exhaust, you can switch it from loud to stock when you want. 3 - Again, a rather subjective measure - some of the more popular exhausts are also the most expensive, e.g. Capristo, Borla; but, it may depend on what you are looking for: sound, performance, styling, reputation, etc. I'm afraid there is no clear winner . . .
  5. Here's the info on 18 and 19": Cayman wheel options I believe the 17" are: Front 6.5" and 55, Rear 8" and 40 offset, but you might want to double check that - however, 17" may not fit on the Cayman S (larger brakes).
  6. If you are interested in the possibility of getting a Quaife ATB Differential built for the 987 Tiptronic, hop over to this link on Cayman Club and let them know: LSD for Tiptronic, Interest Only
  7. Greetings all: I've been prowling this site for a few weeks and thought it was about time I introduce myself. I decided to join/donate to take advantage of the extras, like the TSBs. I bought a used 2006 CS in August - my first Porsche. I hope to track my car about 8 weekend/year, with an occasional AX. I have been hanging out on Cayman Club regularly, and planning to do some limited mods. I look forward to interacting with everyone on the forums here whenever I can.
