'01 996 coupe 82k. Rear glass panel will rattle. Any quick fixes or does it need to be re-glued or whatever way its attached?

I did a search in this website and I found the instructions to re-teach the sunroof switch on my '01 996 coupe. Once the sunroof goes through the motions of opening and closing, it operates like normal. The problem is that after five minutes, the switch needs to be retaught again. I went to my local Porsche dealer late last night before they closed and they downloaded the same instructions from their computer. They said that the sunroof might need to be lubed and perhaps even removed and all tracks cleaned etc. Is it possible do lube myself with silicon spray? Is there anything else that can be done?

Any reccomendations as to where to lube the rear spoiler's movable parts and with what kind of lube? I've had the rear spoiler's "engine" replaced under warranty a couple of years ago and I noticed that it was making weird noises when opened manually for washing. Out of warranty now. The noises sounded like lube was needed

I had the PSE installed at the dealer last month. I just noticed yesterday that both oval tips are rotated up on the inside aspect. They are the larger oem tips that came with one the the packages etc. Could somebody post the factory picture and instructions on the alignment of these oval tips. Mine is an '01 996. I want to measure the distance of the tips to the rear valance and perhaps do it myself if its simple enough. If not, I will take it back to the dealer, but I would hate to do this trip just for that.

I know it has been beaten to death here, but I have seen references elsewhere that if the car has no PSM, then the speed cut-out hack can be done in a simpler manner. Yes or no and if yes, how? My '01 996 is at the dealer as we speak being fitted with the PSE and electronics.

I think you are referring to the city lights. It is just that the one in your other (opposite) headlamp is blown. They should both turn on when parking lights are turned on and when headlights are on also.

I have a '01 996 coupe with 15k miles. Its idle has been a little irregular since new. Dealer told me early on that it is normal for a boxer engine. It is getting its 15k mile service and I got a loaner Boxster '03. That idle rpm is rock solid on the boxster. Its a boxer engine, what gives?

My '01 996 C2 which I got new in '02 is now due its 15k service. The dealer is reccomending that the brakes be flushed since it is needed at 2 years, even if the car has only been used for 1 year and 15k. Yeah or nay?

I am getting that doncapecod bug. I ordered the trim piece (that looks like a bat) that fits in the lowermost portion of the middle dash and I am wondering if its an easy DIY thing and perhaps some step-by-step instructions. I ordered from UK prestige parts, and it has the PORSCHE logo on it. I think it will look cool. Thanks a lot!

It looks like a great set of dvd's. I would be interested in one, obviously, the one with the steering wheel swap. I don't see a need for all the other ones since my 996 has most of what you are showing (litronics, obc, etc.). I hope the purchase of one dvd is doable for you.

Where do I get your DVD?

I am about to replace my steering wheel with a OE 3 spoke steering wheel. My question is should I use Loctite on the airbag screws and also on the main center screw? Any other tips? I have seen the OBC hack page which describes in detail how to do it but it doesn't mention anything on this. I would add that it helps to unlock and move the steering wheel (using the telescoping feature) all the way out to get further space for the airbag screws. I also did a trial run to see if I could do it (before my new one arrived) and I noticed that those screws are really locked-in, and I am guessing because of Loctite. I also noticed that in reconnecting the battery, it took a little while before the car knew what to do with the automatic lowering of the side windshield when you open & close the doors. I almost broke the window before I realized what happened. So anyone doing this, watch out for that windshield-make sure it lowers.
