  1. cool!!! I found some thread that you just leave the coolant cap off overnight and this should let the air bubbles out..is this true???the other thing I did too is, before I did it, I asked the dealership what kind of coolant I can use. He said that I could use any coolant as long as it is 50/50...so, I used prestone to top it off(this was before I located the leak)...now, i read on one of the thread that i shouldn't mix it and should stay with porsche coolant...and if mixed, it will form a jelly like coolant..can I just flush it with distilled water before I added the porsche coolant with 50%distilled water??
  2. thanks Kabel..found the thread..still waiting for the seal and the hose I ordered from porsche....
  3. thanks tool pants...i feel like an idiot asking that question about how much to tighten the tension...i dont know what I was thinking... ...but find out today too that I need a new belt drive...man, this just keeps getting better and better...i'll probably replace the thermostat since i already drained my coolant...what are your thoughts??? again, this has been a great website for DIY on boxsters....and a lot of good people :renntech:
  4. thanks..it was funny though, I came across a water pump online for Boxster and decided to buy it; this was 4 months ago...I had it sitting in my garage since then, and now I needed it....All I need to purchase is the sealant as well...I found the procedure for filling and bleeding...will be working on the car this weekend... Thank God for Renntech...Porsche dealership's labor charge per hour is now $96.00!!!! Other fees= tax, shop towels, disposal fee, and of course you have to buy the parts from them, and if they breakl something, they'll tell you that it was broken and it needs to be replaced! All in all, I will be saving around $800.00 for this... :renntech:
  5. cool! this is what I was looking for..I found a leak and it looks like it was coming from the water pump(coolant pump)...the leak was coming from where you connect the filler hose....I just need to know if I loosen the tension, how much do I need to tighten it????thanks
  6. ok, I guess coolant pump and water pump are the same...so, I'm thinking about replacing my water pump(or coolant pump) since it is common on boxsters...man, this will take me awhile.. :(
  7. Ok, so I thought I figured it out and went ahead and cut the old hose where it is connected to the (hold on I have to look at my manual to see what’s it called) ahhh filler hose clamp...a T-shaped hose...I will have it this Thursday. Anyway, I looked and noticed at the bottom where the filler hose is connected to(red arrow) it seems that the leak was coming from the coolant pump(or I’m not really sure if its leaking from there). I checked the old hose and it seems to be intact(before I cut it and drained my coolant) Now, I need to figure out how to refill it correctly! I need some advice on : 1. How do I replace coolant pump or just the seal? Any special tools? 2. How to properly fill the coolant (bought the coolant from Porsche dealership) but I need to mix it with distilled water (this probably is a stupid question but here goes: where do I get the distilled water?; chemistry lab?? Heheheh I don’t know that is why I asked.. 3. And lastly, is the leak from the coolant pump common on boxsters? :renntech:
  8. porsche spoiler control Here is the link where you buy the switch to lower and raise your spoiler..I was thinking about getting one but I'm not sure if I can install it myself... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/PORSCHE-986-996-Rear-Spoiler-Switch-Kit-Matte-or-Gloss_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1713Q2em153Q2el1262QQcategoryZ40017QQihZ024QQit emZ370021789865QQtcZphoto

  10. Thank you! That is exactly I was looking for. I don't know why the dealership can't find the part number for it. THey keep on insisting that it comes with the roll bar pads...Thanks again!! :) :renntech:
  11. I went to the dealership because I am attempting to replace the windstop clips on my boxster 1998. They told me that I had to buy the whole roll bar pads. Does anyone know if the clips/ bushing that holds the roll bar pads in place can be purchased separately or if you know the part number so I can take it to the dealership...Thank you
