  1. Perhaps try disconnecting the battery (or the power supply to the unit) if there is no reset switch. The downside of disconnecting the battery of course is that it will also reset other electrically dependant memory such as clock and you will need to provide your radio code for the Unit.

I gave it a try, but it didn't change anything. I have an email in to Becker along with a price request on the telephone and aux cables, which I plan to use to hack together an iPhone interface. We'll see what they say.

I finally heard back from Becker. They said I'd have to send in the unit, and it will be a $120 flat fee plus part costs to repair it. I think I'll just keep listening to my ipod.

If I get brave and tear the unit apart I'll post photos.

I had a similar problem where I keep getting an error everytime I inserted a CD. I bought a refurbished unit form Becker for about $220 and bought an interface cable for my Ipod for another $15 from them. Everyting has worked fine for over a year now. I like the sound quality of the CD's over the Ipod is why I got the refurbished unit.

Does the cable charge the iPod battery ot it works only for speakers (through the AUX port of the radio, I suppose) ?

    Thanks

  2. Are you the first owner?

Could be a tracking device...like LoJack...for theft recovery.

No, I'm the third owner. I contacted the previous one, but I don't know nothing about that; I'm not able to contact the first owner.

I showed it to the Porsche Center that sold the new car and have done regular maintenance. They don't have fitted it, but they are quite sure that it is an anti-theft GPS tracker.

I'll try to undestand which model is it and if I can resume it.

  3. There is a company called Solisto, who make an Ipod interface which works with Becker / CDR units - ive put one into my 996 with a becker 4720 (almost the same as a CDR22) which works excellently - price was about £100 uk - delivered complete with leads. it replaces the Cd changer unit and supplies digital input and charge to the ipod - totally recommend

    web site was www.solisto.de

What is the difference beetween the Solisto's interface and a few $ cable connected on the CD changer port at the rear of the receiver with, on the other side, a connector (stereo 3,5 mm or other) fitting with your player ?

  4. I'm concerned by this problem and I founded that "Blue Smoke from the Engine" is dealed in TSB n°1716 1/02 of May 10th, 2002.

Unluckily, this is one of the few TSBs missing in our forum. Do anyone knows where can I find it?

    Thanks a lot!
