  1. All this terminology to remember!!! My current cap is vinyl or something... What year did the have vinyl caps? Anyway, it is not thrilling to say the least. :) Thanks for the part numbers guys.
  2. Does anyone have the part number for a 996 Black Instrument Leather Surround piece? (Or if you are selling one of any color drop me a line) Thanks!
  3. How much are they charging you to reprogram the mileage?
  4. Pinouts of the Output would be great. I already the 996 amp connected in my 986. With the default wiring it allows me to fade from the front speakers to the door speakers. (Which actually allows for a little more bass punch) Anyway, I ordered one of the rear speaker kits and I want to use the extra 2 channels to power the them instead of going to the head unit.
  5. The term Permagrin has been nullified... Check the archives of the links provided.
  6. I would assume we could start with the cluster diagrams. How many pounds are we talking there? :P
  7. Thanks for the help. Where can I obtain the schematics for the two different models? The sender could be on any part of the car not even near the engine. It may ground a terminal on the cluster if the car is level (which would be ideal) All somewhat educated guess on how it 'could' work.
  8. Do you know if the oil sender on the TT has an extra terminal?(that could possible tell if the car is level) It would seem like it would have to have something extra....
  9. I have a TT cluster in my 986. I have tried everything to get an oil reading The menu says 4 criteria must be met. 1. Verhicle is running 2. Vehicle is heated up 3. Vehicle is stopped 4. Vehicle is level. I have met all 4 conditions but I think nothing is telling the cluster that the vehicle is level so it won't display the oil reading. I have let the car idle for 10 minutes with the same result: "Vehicle must be level before measurement is taken" From what I believe Jeff said is that the TTs have some sort of level sensor other than the one for the litronics (which I do have)
  10. I am looking for the part number for the 996TT Car Level Sender that tells the cluster that the car is infact level and to go ahead and check the oil. Thanks
  11. Almost all is well after a couple of weeks. I have the Oil Pressure send on order from Suncoast. It should be here tomorrow. The fuel gauge seems accurate but I am really afraid to let it get below 1/4. I am still dealing with the problem of the Oil Check on the cluster complaining about not being level. :(
  12. I went with using the 996 surround and trimming the 986 glass to work with the extra gauges while my other set is getting a new piece of plastic to replace the broken one.
  13. Excellent.. Thank you!! Do you have part number? If I choose to go the other route of cutting the 986 surround down, what is the best way to do it?
  14. Here is the 996 surround with the 986 switch in the console.
  15. I bought a 996 cap and surround to use with my TT gauges. I put back the voltage and OP gauge in the cluster. I need to fit the cluster with all 5 gauges in a surround. What configuration of the pieces I have would work best I want to fit A: the 996TT Cluster in either 1. the 996 cap and surround (which would requre getting a different em switch) or 2. the 986 cap and surround cutout to fit the extra gauges. I promise you the switch cut out is different for the two clusters.
  16. Maybe I am better off just slicing down my 986 cluster to accomodate the extra gauges. Jeff or anyone do you have pictures of where to cut? Thanks
  17. The switch I have with my 986 is much smaller than the cut out for the 996 cluster I have.
  18. I bought a 996 surround (used) to use with my TT gauge cluster on my 02 986. It must be a 99 or 2000, because the Emergency switch is different. What is my best course of action? Should I just buy the emergency switch for a 99, or is the plug for the switch different? thanks
  19. Mmmm Coffee.... The plug was .90 per and the connectors were .26 per. Not too bad I guess...
