  1. Thanks for the great pics... When I yanked on the white part, I broke the switch though.. doah! Anyone have a general idea on replacement price?
  2. This is the cluster I bought with the nice cracked glass. How hard would it be to move the glass off my old cluster or find a sutible replacement? Maybe I am better off removing the volt / oil pressure of the new cluster and shove the components in the old one?
  3. It just came in and it seems to work well!! (I only have the Single switch for the OBC hack so I can't do everything yet) I don't have any pictures as of yet. 1. I need to figure out how to neatly file down my current surround to fit in the two extra gauges. (I am still trying to figure out how to remove the darn connector for the hazard light switch) 2. I am going to put my silver 986S gauges on the new cluster.. That should be easy. (Hopefully it won't look dumb with the two black out gauges) 3. Add the second switch for the OBC hack. 4. Get the dealer to program the gauge. Is there a charge for this typically?
  4. Without breaking a tab or two, I can't see how to remove the harness to the hazard switch. Does anyone have any advice or pictures? Thanks!
  5. Yeah I understand that physically moving the gauge would not have the computer on the same page, but it might be enough of an indicator..... I have the switch method of the OBC hack done so I should be able to scroll something atleast... I might just add a 2nd switch (instead of the stalk) if it works because I have enough money tied into this **** thing as it is... :) Should be here tomorrow... I will try it as soon as I get it and report back.
  6. Sorry I didn't see that.... Do you know if that is true of the new clusters too or just the old style? There is probably something obvious I am missing but, if it is a problem, couldn't I drive with my original 986 cluster until I am almost out of gas, swap clusters and physcially move the need so it says E and then fill up and see what happens? Just a thought... (hopefully that will be the least of my problems)
  7. Ok what I am asking is when I put the TT gauge cluster on my 02 MT 986S how will the fuel gauge respond? Report high, Report low, not work at all. I guess I am not sure what I failed to mention.
  8. Mine is a stick so I am ok with the lack of gear indicators. What's the problem with the fuel gauge? I wouldn't mind if it showed lower than it should.. The other way could be problematic... Do you know of a cheap place to pick up a surround? Thanks
  9. Ok I bought a cluster with part number 996 641 213 20 70c for my 02 986s. I should have it on Friday. I will let you know how it turns out. Wish me luck!
  10. The (2) current displays that I have for my 02 986 have 32 pin connectors. (the change to the CAN bus happened in 01 for the 986) From what I have read in the past, no one has tried to replace the non-dot display with the one that has the dot due to cost factor. I would be suprised if the wiring harnesses were different for an OBC and non-OBC equipped car, but this is Porsche we are dealing with so anything is possible.
  11. Would I be better off trying to find a regular 996 cluster with the Dot matrix or am I in the same boat where I should just stick to the 986 display?
  12. So it would have the dot matrix display then? My understanding 996 Turbos have always had it.... What is the likelyhood that it would work in an 02 Boxster? Thanks again.
  13. Would the part number 996 641 213 20 70c have the dot matrix display? Thanks again... :)
  14. I am looking for the part number of the Guage cluster for a 2002 S, Tip with the factory on board computer option. Thanks!
