  1. Hi there! This is for a 2002 carrera.... I have my yellow seat belts coming soon and I need to know if there's a trick to remove that plastic part (you know the one that sits on the "B" pillar that you press to move the seat belt anchor point up and down) I need it to expose the screw/bolt so I can take out the old belt...

    Thanks!

    joel

No, it's clipped in there, just pull it off.

Here are a few pics I sent to a guy. Hope they help out.

    Here are the pics:

  2. Just wondering, I will probably put the switch/button in the center console. Where is a good place to feed the line up into the cabin and what is a good source to get power from a negative and positive from?

I'll be updating with pics, basically I'm having these valves custom welded to the bypass pipes with slip fits to clamp over the existing pipe which comes from the cat. This will give me control of the exhaust output. This way I can keep it quieter around the neighborhood/passing cops/etc.

  4. Well the dust shield I had to trim off a little it was rubbing the brake rotor. I also found some sort of electronic condenser or something that melted through the plastic in the wheel well. It appeared that the tire had been rubbing on that. I relocated it up a little so it wouldn't be near the tire but still safe from the elements. However when I took it for a spin the noise was still there.

  5. I have not heard anything on this one.

Did you get the 99' C4? That is a sweet ride with a TON of mods (the right ones also)!!! It came on sale two weeks too late for me. (I had just bought and shipped one from TX to Boston) Not sure if you have previous pcar experience, but as a new pcar owner myself......you'll love her.

Yeah I got the 99 C4. It is my first pcar.

  6. I think it's blown a little out of proportion. Probably just because of how much money a 911 costs. I don't see them having any more issues that your typical sports car. There will always be a few duds or someone not following manufacture recommendations. I've seen a few 996s with over 100K still original engines in them. The RMS issue isn't that big of a deal. The horror stories are most likely people who don't know anything about the car and neglect to see it happening. If an engine seal is leaking a good amount of oil, probably should get it fixed not continue to drive on it, loose oil, and have none left for the engine. Engine seals are sort of temperamental, leaving the car sitting for long periods of time isn't a great idea from my experience with any car. I'd try to find a good one that has been serviced, and also get a pre-purchase inspection on it. Just price out in your head, worst case scenario, if _______ happened what would I do.

  7. hey porsche3...how long have you used your K&N Air Filter? I've heard so much crp about them, but i've been fine since i've installed it over 6000 miles. But I always get nervous with rain storms, because of the warning on the KN box (not to be used during inclement weather, if so, return to stock during these conditions). Being my 1999 996 is a daily driver that isnt' possible. LMK what you think. Thanks

    bmohr

I've used it now for 1yr+ and about 8k miles. No issues at all, love it as much now as the day I installed it.

I can see the point of not using in inclement weather since the filter is open directly below the engine lid vents, so there is potential for water to enter... but it would probably have to be a lot of water since the oiled filter should displace things like drips.

what would be ideal is to design a top shield for the filter, maybe out of CF. i'm going to talk to my buddy who makes custom-fabricated race car parts (does a lot of CF work, hand-made my 996 console lid out of CF and it looks SICK!) - Let you know if that turns out. I think with a small cover it would resolve any potential inclement weather issues.

Doesn't K&N supply a water repelling cover that goes over the filter now? I don't know what they call it, I always called it the water boot, I have one on my RX8. I've seen them on 996s before.
