  1. Just got mine back from repair... I tried everything that was suggested but nothing worked so I brought it to Porsche dealership and they could not tell me what it was... They said they would start by replacing the alarm module... but they were not sure it would fix the pb...

Given the price of the repair I wanted another diagnostic so I went to an import shop who said it was the key... they ordered it, reprogrammed it and it works... cost me 350$ though (The new key is 150 + 110 reprogram + manpower) but they fixed the pb and repaired the gas lock that was stuck the other day...

It is expensive for a key but compared to what Porsche was suggesting it is way less...

    Good luck with yours.

  2. Have you tried to disconnect the battery; place the key 30 feet or more far from the car; and then plug the battery and try the remote? This has worked for me.

No luck for me... just tried but did not get any result...

Both keys are flashing when I press the button but it does not do anything... When you talk about reprogramming the key, what does it do? the dealer told me there was no need to do that because it was emitting a signal... I am wondering if they really know and I don't want them to tear the car appart (and my wallet) to finally say, it was just the key that needed to be reprogrammed...

    Thanks for your help!

  3. Well I just took my 2002 C4S out of storage and similar issue.

I went for service at the dealer and they checked that issue but were not able to fix it for sure. They tested both keys and they seem to be communicating. they told me keys don't need to be reprogrammed. They found the following error message 60 Central locking limit position - Lock not reach.

They told me it could be the alarm module... but I doubt as the alarm seems to be working...

    Would anyone have an idea?

I would like to know for sure because module is something like 450 + install... maybe a good DYI, has anyone done it?

    Thanks

Have you tried locking and unlocking the door using the metal key?

That should reset the remote functions.

Yes I tried... that is the only way to open... then if I wait too long before I put the key in the ignition, the alarm goes off (might be embarrassing!)...

I need to do some test with both key, maybe change the battery or at least remove them and put them back...

    Thanks

  5. Hello,

What kit would you recommend to replace pad and rotors on my 2002 C4S.

It has 30000 miles but I used it on track about 7 times. I have an upcoming event (2 days at Gingerman track and after that I think it will be time...). The rotors and pads are not dead yet but I always prefer to have some thread left as when I am on the track I do not want to worry about worn brakes...

Anyway I found different options on FVD or ebay but really I do not know what to get...and where to get the best deal... your help will be appreciated!

I think the OEM brakes are fine for the use I have...

    Thanks

  6. Well I saw smoke for a couple of seconds... I would say white but with the dark windows maybe I am wrong...

I checked coolant level, no pb.

I checked oil level, no pb.

I checked the oil tube, no "marmelade/mayo" inside...

Could it be "just" because of the fact it has been pushed to its limit for half hour (well I should take that back... the pilot was pushed to his limit... the car was just pushed a little!!!) ???

  7. Yesterday, I went to a track event at Autobahn in Joliet, Il with the PCA (that was excellent!)...

After each run (30 minutes) we had about 1 hour break... when I started the car again there was white smoke for a couple of seconds...

Then I drove back home (about 2 hours) and this morning it was back to normal (no smoke) when I started it...

It did that to me some time ago after intensive use but then back to normal the next day...

My car is a 2002 carrera 4S with 27000 miles. The only thing I have is a KN filter...

Any idea about this issue???? is this "normal"???

    Thanks

  8. I installed the following cable in my 2002 C4S : http://www.discountcarstereo.com/detail.aspx?ID=1010

It works fine and it does charge the ipod.

First I removed the cd changer.

This cable replaces the cd changer cable in the back of the radio.

Remove the blue plug and replace it with the cable

    post-28663-1211027215.jpg

In order to charge the ipod, you need to plug it on 12v... (marron for ground and orange for +12v so it does not stay on when you turn it off)

    post-28663-1211027223.jpg

Then remove the cd holder to have space and install the cable properly

One nice thing about this cable is that it has a jack so you can plug a garmin that has bluetooth and then your car has bluetooth...

In order to avoid noise (which is really minimal but you may hear it between two tracks) I added a noise filter (12$ from cruchtfield).

One very important thing : when you unplug the cd changer, you may loose (I did) the AUX on the radio... no need to go to Porsche... press the TP button for 8 seconds, then you will access the program menu of the radio, turn on the AUX and you are good to go!
