  1. Recently I did pinning of coolant lines. Shortly after, the CEL came on and Durametric is showing the attached fault: secondary air injection system insufficient flow bank 1 value below lower limit. It's also intermittent. I have cleared it twice and it won't return for a few drives then gets tripped again all of the sudden. Anybody have any insight? I have checked everything I disconnected for the pinning, but all looks ok.

  2. I have been searching for the part number for the plastic intake pieces that snap into the 997 GT3 or aerokit bumper cover at the side radiator air ducts. Specifically the black plastic pieces that mate with the rubber seal at the side radiators. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Model and year of your car please?

    Thanks Loren,

    It's MY 06 997 Carrera S with aerokit.

  3. Just to let you guys know that a loud squeaking noise that sounded as though it was coming from the rear cabin of the car was actually coming from the rear spoiler assembly. If I pushed down on the very top left of the spoiler on the rear deck lid, no sqeak, when I let it go, squeak. So, I just wanted to let folks know who would swear that the noise is coming from INSIDE the cabin that it may, in fact, not be, and that they may want to check the rear spoiler however unlikely it may seem given on where the sound seems to be coming from. Oh, and the noise is not there if the spoiler is raised.

[Note: I edited this post to delete my question. While the source is definitely the rear spoiler, the dealer has yet to diagnose the specific part]

Hmmm...interesting to know. Are you talking about the creaking noise when going up inclines?

  4. So I have had my '06 997 S for about 4 months now and have done mostly short drives here and there not spending too much time doing highway driving. I always noticed that there was some road noise when transitioning from asphalt to concrete (grooved) stretches of highway and when going over speed bumps and uneven road, but did not pay too much attention to it. I recently did an hour of highway driving and could barely stand the cabin road noise. It seemed to be much worse on the concrete stretches and over expansion joints. I also noticed that more of the noise came from the rear tires rather than the front. I have also noticed more noise coming from the rear when going over speed bumps or rough road. I have brand new PS2's, but did notice the noise with the Pirelli's I had previously. Is this normal? I was told it could be bad wheel bearing, but the car has 14,5k miles so I question this being the cause. Any insight would be appreciated.

In addition to road noise caused by the surface or tires I experienced a resonance at highway speeds in 6th gear that I found more irritating than the normal road noise. I found changing the headers made this noise go away. First the e-bay headers than the AWE headers. Both did the job.

Good to know. I have been aware of the resonance from the exhaust. That along with the cabin noise / road noise as well as the bass from the Bose add up to plethora of noise :D

  5. I recently added the XM satellite radio receiver and a navigation system to my 08 C2 coupe. They both work great.

What, if any, are the disadvantages of not having the PCM programmed by a dealer after installing? It does show that the 2 new items aren't stored in memory.

FWIW, I bought the XM unit new from Sunset. I bought the DVD and Nav unit used on ebay, buying the remaining nav bits from Sunset.

I ended up not having to buy the GPS antenna since the XM unit came with the combo antenna. The TSB for installing NAV was invaluable as it told me what parts and part #s I needed for my car

Total cost of the NAV was $750.

I was surprised everything worked but it did.

    Thanks,

    Gene

How hard was the install for the XM?

  6. [

Those numbers are for full load. Meaning several passengers and trunk full. For standard load, it is 33 / 39. I just looked at the Porsche TSBs related to tire pressure available on this website. Same pressures for C2 and C4, S and non-S.

I believe if you look closely, the door jam says Full Load. The manual says something different.

I haven't checked the sticker to see if it says those numbers are for full load or not, but I have searched the forums and it seems as if there is a lot of variance in the pressures people run.

  7. Tire pressure is correct front and rear?

Unless my gauge is incorrect. I am running 37 front 42 rear. I am going to double check with another gauge though just to be sure.

I adjusted my tires (cold) with my digital tire gauge last weekend to the recommended 37 and 44 psi. I found the TPMS was reading about 2-4 psi lower than my measured pressures.

That is not the recommended tire pressure. At least it wasn't when I had my 07 C2S. I believe the recomm tire pressure is 33/39 cold.

My MY 06 door sticker say front 37 rear 42. However, I do now have 315's at the rear and wonder if the pressure should be the same as the 295's.
